I see in the Daily Mail today, fucking SVEN GORAN ERICSSON is putting his name out there for both the Chelsea job and the England job, saying he would love to do them, but doesn't believe he will be asked.

That man is an absolute parasite. He just WILL NOT fuck off. Why do people still pay him?

To be fair, if you're looking for someone to come in, do a shit job, then get a massive payoff, there's none better than Sven, and that appears to be how Chelsea roll.

Hahahaha very true!

He just keeps getting given decent jobs, fucking up and getting sacked with a huge payoff. To be fair, can't blame the guy for taking the money if someone is stupid enough to pay him

He took a whole series of low to mid ranking European clubs to top domestic and international honours before creating "England¿s golden generation" from the ashes of Euro2000 and setting several all time records for England; including most international points won, fastest rise up FIFA's rankings and a unique 3 consecutive top qualifying places and all time record of losing ONLY 5 competitive games 2001 - 2006 leading TheFA to list Eriksson as England's second most successful head coach after Sir Alf. (Anyone seriously doubting the value of the "Eriksson effect" may ponder the "golden generation" crashing out of qualifying for Euro2008 WITHOUT him?) Eriksson went on to engineer Manchester City's best season in 3 decades equalling the clubs all time record for the most Premier League points and beating Man U twice along the way. (He would have set a new record if his loyal team hadn't "gone on strike" on the pitch at the tail end of that season in protest at his treatment?) In spite of his few (very vocal) detractors and the bile he attracts from certain media quarters, His ex-players and club chairmen almost universally praise and admire Eriksson, the England team threatened to strike in his support and both the England and Man City official fan organisations launched mass "Save Our Sven" campaigns in an effort to keep him. Not too bad for a quiet, dignified guy who has clearly devoted his whole life to the benefit of football but is mysteriously dubbed a "fraud" or "looser" by some?

Something I found, might've even been on here, I tend to agree as well.

Not to mention that (and I say this as an England pessimist) in 2002 England were the second best team in the whole tournament, being knocked out by Brazil (the eventual winners) in a really close game, Brazil went on to steamroll everyone in their path, including eventuall finalists the Germans. Going out to Portugal on penalties twice isnt too bad considering one was a red card incident and the players the Portuguese had were really, really fucking good. Too many people only see quarter final, as opposed to the teams themselves.

England did get shitter in his later years though and I'd say he ran out of ideas. On the other hand, in breaking news England are still fucking shit, no one can help that (please not Harry Redknapp though, I dont want to see a defensive partnership of Ledley King and Rio Ferdinand and an attacking partnership of Emile Heskey and Bobby Zamora.) I'd argue that Sven is probably a spent force now, especially in this country, but he wasnt really shit.

Also he's not dignified.

Also, I want Klinnsman (sp?) as England manager, the guys an Anglophile and he knows what he's doing.

So close, yet so far. We really missed Ox and Walcott in the final 10 minutes. I'm very proud of the team, we really need to take the confidence of beating AC Milan 3-0 and pull for the third spot in the league.

Good game.

Every time I watch Zlatan play, he looks absolutely dog shit. He obviously isn't, given the fees he's commanded and the trophies he's won, but it's such a weird coincidence that he has a mare every time I watch one of his games. His career would be over if I got ESPN and started watching Serie A.

He's quite a cunt that Zlatan. In an interview over the weekend he said he had a chance to sign for Arsenal when he was 18 but he didn't because they had the cheek to ask him to come have a trial for a week. He even said at the time "No way, Zlatan doesn't do auditions".
I might just get you ESPN Tasty.

On Sven - I'm with you that he did a good job at England and City. Everywhere since then - Mexico, Cote d'Ivoire, Leicester - he's been embarrassing and got a huge payoff.

On Klinsmann - I think the general senitment in Germany was that he was the figurehead and Loew was the brains of the operation. He did a pretty bad job at Bayern. I think it's worth seeing how he does in America before making any judgements. Also, the press would have a fucking field day if England appointed a German over Harry.

Rather strangely, I have exactly the same viewing experience with Zlatan. I must have seen him play 30 times for club and country and he has always played like total shite. Think I have maybe seen him score twice - once for Sweden and once for Barca.

His play, together with his arrogance, reminds me of a more expensive and high profile Nicklas Bendtner
