Perfect Liverpool gameplan. Tire Cardiff out for 120 mins and then win on pens... have the Liverpool fan in the Cardiff team miss a penalty.

Fixed.

Was a good game, Cardiff defended well. Kuyt should have been on earlier as Andy C's positioning was terrible.

That has been the LFC plan since we beat Birmingham in 2001.

Dirk Kuyt is one of the few Liverpool players I like. Henderson and Carroll were both horrible today. How do they add up to a combined Fernando Torres?

I know what you're saying, and Lord knows that 50% of the text messages I send are lamenting Jordan Henderson, but Carroll has scored 8 goals in 40 games between them, and Torres has scored 5 in 48. It's shit, but not as shit as Torres.

There's just something off with Carroll. One game it's his movement, the other it's his finishing, the next he just fouls everything that moves. He usually gets the service, he had a couple of good crosses today but mistimed his headers quite badly.

I want to like Henderson (and Carroll too) and I think he will end up great (not sure on Carroll) but he is played out of position. I'm very surprised he has started so many games ahead of Maxi and Kuyt. I'm glad Kenny got that change spot on today.

We've got a major summer ahead. We wont get in the CL though which is a shame.

I think I put Liverpool down to finish second this year, although thats mostly because I had an outside bet on them to do well and had to at least try to show some support. Guess they repaid my trust a little by winning something at least, even if I did want Cardiff to win.

Have to laugh at all my friends who are Utd fans talking about how Liverpool needed penalties to beat a Championship side.

These are the same Utd fans whose team were beaten at home by a worse Championship side in this very competition and who will harp on about winning when you do not play well... seemingly, that argument only applies to Utd themselves

The United fans I know are talking about how the Carling Cup is a worthless trophy. I pointed out that the only thing they'll win this season is the Charity Shield.

This is seemingly the most random question I;'ve asked:

Is Macheda black or severly tanned? I have a reason for asking.

Macheda? Black? Frederico Macheda? He's like white.

He's like Obertan in that he looks white sometimes and sometimes he looks black.

Anyways my point is he, Nile Ranger and Manny Smith have been done for homophobic remarks on Twitter. Ranger and Smith (being black) made me realise how much double standards the media have. If the player in question had have tweeted about Ranger/Smith's colour there would be hell on.

I watched Wales for a bit and England for a bit. Both games were absolutely dire. In the England game, Scotty P was atrocious, in the main and how Daniel "I'm going to run into a corner and then get tackled instead of ever passing or having a shot" Sturridge got man of the match, I'll never know. If Pearce's masterplan to get the job is to play 4 wingers at the same time and have Gary Cahill standing offside, I don't think Harry has much to worry about.

Yeah, two decent blocks does not make up for 90 mins running around like a headless chicken -the story of Scott Parker really. However, I do not think that Pearce did him any favours by selecting him alongside Gareth Barry. Having two players that would barely cross the halfway line in the centre of the midfield left a massive gap between the midfield and the attack; a gap was only to get bigger once Gerrard went off, who should never have been playing. It definitely showed that he had played 2+ hours on Sunday.

I do think that there were some positive signs for England. When the likes of Johnson, Downing and Sturridge got the ball down and committed their full backs, England were dangerous going forward. Also, given the presence of Barry and Parker, they were solid at the back.

However, of those positives, concentration was not one of them. All three Dutch goals should have been avoided. One run across the defence took three players out of the game for Robben to run in unopposed; Kujt's cross should have been dealt with at source and Robben should not have been allowed to get a shot away in injury time.

Swear I watched a different game from you lot, I am not a Parker defender by any means but he had a good solid game, he gave the ball away once which was still less that most of his team-mates, made some solid tackles and blocks and generally kept possession well, not sure what else he could've done really, if that was atrocious I'd say that he must have some pretty high standards, his perfomance against Spain cant be replicated everytime. Not really a headless chicken, he was tracking and tackling people and always available for a pass, not dynamic, but solid.

First half was good, pretty even, second half was a bit error prone but a lot of fun to watch for the most part. I still think Jagielka should be first choice CB by now, dont think Holland would've had quite an easy time against him that they did against Smalling and later Jones and Richards. Fun game, for a friendly.

England need to take some tips from the Gills in how to come back from two goals behind and not lose though.

Anyone tried the new Fifa Street demo? If not, don't bother. It's about as awkward and disjointed as The Great Khali's wrestling style.
