Domestic football - spam version

Who wants to bet on Stevie G getting loaned back to an English club a la Lampard then?

Also, both Liverpool penalties were very fortunate today and Harry Kane should not be touted as the next anybody or great English hope, for his own good. Let the boy be a boy without any ******ed media pressure being heaped on his shoulders then wondering why he can't fulfil his early promise.

Oh aye and the Dons did good. Top of the league and as long as Delia manages Celtic, the Dons and Tangarines could have a gripping fight for the title.

The Lampard situation has me totally confused, as four out of five situations in football do. Supposedly New York City didn't actually have him under contract - or have I been misreading the story?

In other news, I am currently ruing leaving Chadli on the bench in fantasy football. What would was a good week could have been a great one. If I'd captained Kane, which I honestly didn't really consider, it could have been a historic one.

Edit: Some poor goalkeeping aside, what a bloody finish from Sadio Mane against Arsenal: http://gfycat.com/HappygoluckyRevolvingBengaltiger

New York do but Man City own New York. Basically it's a loophole round the Financial fair play.

He's under contract to NY city who are owned by the same people who own Man City, so it makes more sense for his contract to be extended at the team who have a better chance of winning silverware than a burgeoning franchise, who I think also have David Villa signed for their debut season.

TLDR; Man City opted to extend his contract, fuck the MLS.

Edit - Lee said it better.

Given ManCity's striker troubles...couldn't they also get David Villa on loan also? (I'm not entirely up to date with all this stuff with MCFC and NYFC)

I think he's been on loan with an Australian team and they won't be extending his loan, or rather, his loan won't be allowed to be extended. Jovetic is already back and I don't think Dzeko and Aguero are far off returning so it's a bit of stretch for Villa to be considered a short term solution, especially given that the transfer window is now open for City to actually buy in a new striker.

I'd love for City to buy Marco Reus. Would be a quality addition, though he seems a bit injury prone. Maybe him and Aguero can do a swap appearances gig? "I get injured, you get fit, you get injured, I get fit" :p

COSTAAAAAAAAAA........ oh wait.

Where are the plastic Aussie Chelsea fans now?

What's wrong with Aussies supporting English teams anyways. It's like slagging me off for following Rangers who are Scottish, the San Fransisco 49ers who are American and Toronto FC who are shit.

You don't like people who support teams other than the one geographically closest to where they were born, we get it, it gets very tiresome and you come across as a massive prick.

Now onto something that is actually new conversation - Stevie G is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.

Again, I never said that, you just twist my words to suit your point because it includes you.

I don't like people who support massive clubs who aren't from the area as your intentions for supporting them are very clear.

Again - Lee - I answered your question. Nothing wrong with supporting a club, no matter where you are, it's the reasoning that is so false. This guy who always posts about Costa in here - blatantly admitted, like so many other Chelsea fans in Aus, that he only supports them because they're massively successful. It's so fake.

People have stupid reasons for supporting clubs. I know loads of people who went to uni in Newcastle because they started supporting newcastle in 95ish and have stuck to being life long fans.

If chelsea bombed in a few years and they stuck by them that would be fine. Though it may explain why so many fans are turning against Wenger.

But Newcastle aren't like Chelsea/United/Arsenal/Liverpool/City. They've got something else you can't put your finger on. Character. Wish more people supported clubs for that reason.

Spot on about Arsenal.

The golden days of football.

Also, 5-3. Cool beans. My proper team sacked their manager but I know none of you actually care about that.

Actually no, I don't support them because their successful, though that is certainly an upside. I mean fuck, do you KNOW how many seasons I had to watch my team play with arguably one of the worst 1st team strikers in Torres, that was more painful than watching a relegation side.

On that note, despite the loss.... COSTA SCORED AGAIN FUCKER.

What do you actually mean?

Do you mean local players who grew up supporting the team? Because 4 of them have that - City don't.

Do you mean having the most local support in their area - because Liverpool and Arsenal definitely have that, the Manchester clubs depend on where in Manchester you are.

Do you mean passionate fans, because they all have that in abundance. Almost every single chant appropriated by clubs for their own players were originally sung in the Stretford End or The Kop.

It seems to me you are confusing 'absence of recent success' with 'character'.

You'll never get a logical argument from him. I've forked out the cash to get my ass to the other side of the world to watch United play at old trafford, still wouldnt make me committed in this muppet's eyes

Glad to see the BBC celebrating having the FA Cup back again by showing no fucking games until Sunday evening.

This is almost as shit as an International weekend.

You're using Torres as an excuse for you being a glory hunter. Yep. You're so full of shit, lol. You posted the other month you only support them because they're a big club. Like every other fake Chelsea fan in Australia.

Downs and AlloftheTards - you're both glory hunters. Deep down you know it.

You think because you've been to a game, it makes you loyal - YOU ONLY SUPPORT THEM BECAUSE THEY'RE THE BIGGEST CLUB IN THE WORLD.

Too many fake fans trying to defend themselves. I'm out.

Thank you for proving my point. I said committed not loyal. However I am I have supported Maanchester United for at least 12 years now when I got my first FIFA and had no idea who to choose so i asked my father(who had even less of a clue) and told me that United were the red devils and the local AFL club were also nicknamed the devils so it goes from there. Then i got massively into football when Australia made the 06 WC(I stopped watching AFL all together for 3-4 years) got an a-league membership with Melbourne(who i'd identify as my first team) and then decided i couldnt change premier league sides because I'd become attatched to United and so had a few mates through association. Them being the biggest team in the world had nothing to do with it

As some of you know, I'm moving to Dubai in the summer. Once I move there, I will obviously give up my life long support of Liverpool and switch allegiance to the geographically closer Al Ahli.

Before I go, I've been doing something I have intended to do for years and that is go to as many rounds of the FA Cup as I can get a ticket for. I missed all the bullshit preliminaries and started at round 1.

The odyssey so far (bold team is who's fans I sat with)

Round One
Barnet 1 - 2 Wycombe Wanderers

Round Two
Wycombe Wanderers 0 - 1 AFC Wimbledon

Round Three
Millwall 3 - 3 Bradford City
