Domestic football - spam version

After a year of frustration with Moyes and a bad start to the season in the previous 4 games, seeing the new look United perform well is a welcome sight. Given the 'bantz' that comes our way when we lose/draw, I'd say we're entitled to be happy with how our team performed:shrug:

The way the media's going on you'd think you beat barcelona 100-0

Di Maria was a good watch and our possession and use of the ball were generally very good.

The defending side of things still has a big question mark over it and against more attacking teams we will be under more scrutiny in that area of the field. Today was a good confidence booster (4 different scorers, clean sheet, nearly 70% possession) but there are some much sterner tests ahead and a top 4 finish is far more realistic than a sustained title charge. So while I won't get carried away, I will enjoy MOTD2.

QPR had Clint Hill, a player that is thirty five and has played about 500 games in the second and third tier of English football, playing at left back. It's not surprising Man United spanked them, Spurs did too and they lost to Hull at home.

It's obviously a positive result, but United's obvious problems are in defence, and given that QPR's front 3 had scored 16 Premier League goals between them in their entire career, today was never the day that would be tested.

Poor you and your one bad year.

It was a pretty steep decline though, punctuated by all sorts of wrong records (for us) being set. Given how much of a points cushion we had when we won the league the previous season, to then be 20+ points off the eventual winners was unbelievable.

The Fergie effect did cover up a lot of cracks and possibly stopped him from re-investing in the team in needed areas over the last couple of seasons.

Moyes' and Woodward's performances last summer were pretty horrific too.

When I said needed areas, I was thinking more of defense and central midfield. No complaints about the RVP signing, even if he was a bit off the boil last year as he wasn't alone.

Liverpool showed they have not been in European competition in a while and it almost cost them. Did not get used to the continental referee, giving away silly free kicks and still had their fullbacks bombing forward in injury time even when winning.

Sure, a fullback bombing forward at 1-1 got the penalty but there was a lot of naïveté out there and Ludogorets were no slouchs. They played the kind of pressing counterattack that we did so well last season.

When he first came to Newcastle I got Spider-man 18 on the back of my top. I bumped into him when I worked in Currys and I told him I had that on my top, he said "that's made my day" gave me an autograph, shook my hand and went off.

I just found out we've scored 16 league goals in 2014. 13 of them across 4 games.

That's shocking.

I'd have him, I think he has something to prove.

Half expecting Brucey though.

I don't expect Pardew to go, Ashley would drive the club into the ground before he paid off the remaining 6 years of his contract.
Having said that, Bruce would have to be mental to give up stability in Hull to join the NUFC clusterfuck and Moyes seems too much like common sense. My bet for the next Newcastle manager is Dennis Wise.

What a comeback from Leicester. Though that first penalty was BS. Rafael was pushed first.

Horrible defending by Man U though. Everybody switched off after they regained a two goal lead. Even I thought the game was over at 3-1 too.

Cracking game, shame about the result but Leicester thoroughly deserved it. Vardy was a constant pest and it was a good idea for him to target Rafael in the second half given that Blackett had initially stood up well to him.

There's going to be a lot more of these types of games in store for Man U; some will go this way and others will go for us.

Nice of you to be a good sport about it. Most fans would be livid at throwing away a game like that.
