Arry gets results more often than not. Redknapp's overspending Spurs were a better team and more entertaining than AVB's overspending Spurs. 4th place twice yo!!!

Meh, fuck em, succeeding in half a season with QPR would've been a miracle, nearly every manager has one Southampton-esque failure, and the financial shortsightedness was on everybody at Portsmouth, but yes, I find the gumption he has with chucking money about endearing, the same as I do with Diwhatsit and Jol, except I can think of some success that he's had, at least.

Sometimes I wished England should have just given Redknapp the job and watch him crash and burn so the media love in can stop.

England's group could have been worse but only slightly - replace Costa Rica with someone like USA or Australia. In terms of location, it is awful and having a whipping boy could work against them, although not playing them first is probably the best of a bad job.

Suarez to ruin them though.

Uruguay needed a play-off to qualify and their defence isn't all that. Suarez and Cavani are indeed brilliant but England could outscore them. Italy is difficult but it isn't impossible for England to beat them.

Group B and Group G are tough as hell.

Group E and Group F are a joke.

Conspiracy theories of Fifa favouring France and Messi begins. :)

England dont beat big teams competitively outside of Wembley; Nil points

Might scrape a draw with Costa Coffee Del Rio Rica

Welbeck and Rooney to score more goals then Cavani and Suarez?

England beat Italy not long after Euro 2012 and I can't see old-man Pirlo running the game in the Amazon heat after a huge flight. As for Uruguay, they're hit and miss.

Regarding everything else.

A - Brazil Vs Mexico? Interesting
B - Spain Vs Holland? Aha, get the shinpads. Australia are fucked.
C - Ivory Coast might finally get out the group
E - Lucky lucky France. I totally called Switzerland Vs France this morning, Blatter Vs Platini
F - Piece of piss for Argentina, Bosnia will probably join them
G - Klinsmann is a good manager but the USA are pretty stuffed.
H - Easy pass for Belgium

So roughly the draw lays out like this

Last 16
1.A1 Vs B2 (Brazil Vs Netherlands)
2.C1 Vs D2 (Colombia Vs England)
3.B1 Vs A2 (Spain Vs Mexico)
4.D1 Vs C2 (Uruguay Vs Ivory Coast)
5.E1 Vs F2 (Switzerland Vs Bosnia)
6.G1 Vs H2 (Germany Vs Russia)
7.F1 Vs E2 (Argentina Vs France)
8.H1 Vs G2 (Belgium Vs Portugal)

Quarters
Q1 - 1 Vs 2 (Brazil Vs England)
Q2 - 5 Vs 6 (Switzerland Vs Germany)
Q3 - 3 Vs 4 (Spain Vs Uruguay)
Q4 - 7 Vs 8 (Argentina Vs Portugal)

Semis
Q1 Vs Q2 (Brazil Vs Germany)
Q3 Vs Q4 (Spain Vs Argentina)

Germany seem to have the cleanest run through to the semi's.

This is the same Italy that made the finals of Euro 2012, if they played England soon after it was in a friendly where they would have rested players. Write them off at your peril.

What kind of team Costa Rica turn out to be could have real bearing on the group.

I could easily see them end up like North Korea were in the last World Cup - have a good, battling performance in their first game only to be annihilated in their second game because they try to play the same way and get found out/tired. Then in the last game they shut up shop to try to save some face.

In that scenario it would essentially come down to how many each of Italy, England and Uruguay actually score against them as they are quite capable of sharing the points between them and all have 5 or 6 points.

England could indeed face having to beat Costa Rica by 3 or 4, perhaps more to qualify.

It's not just the draw that's bad, it's the order they play in too. I think that 2nd game against Uruguay is a complete write-off after travelling 3500 miles in the previous 5 days. Uruguay will take the group, 2nd place will likely be decided in that first game.

Take it with a pinch of salt but there are rumours RVP has put in an transfer request away from Old Trafford. I would die laughing if true.

It was Mark Lawrenson in an interview with the Irish Mirror apparently.

Sounds legit...

What he said was there were various sources from Old Trafford saying the same thing since Wednesday. Then Rio has come out this morning and said Moyes is driving players mad, or words to that effect, which seems a bit odd.

It's unlikely, but if it is true, I don't have a facepalm that's facepalm-ey enough for this occasion.

Id love it mainly because it would piss of the Irish armchair united fans i have to listen to on facebook. After the Everton loss some of them took to going on about how Suarez will be going to madrid simply because they have nothing else to slag other teams about.
Hell this thread is one of the few reasons i log into this forum.
