Does WM28 Require A 'Celebrity Match?'

Does WM28 Require A 'Celebrity Match'?

No.

I think the Rock is all the hype they need. But a better question, do celebrity matches increases ratings? Did having Snooki wrestle make more people buy the PPV? I'd assume probably not. I do think Big Show vs. Shaq would be alright but I don't see the match ending well.

I think celebrities should be involved, but not in a wrestling capacity, not even involved in any matches. Having them as guest ring announcers, involved in vignettes backstage, performing the wrestlers themes live, singing the national anthem, things of that nature.

If Shaq were to start a feud with Big Show, I'd say book Show against an underdog opponent and have Shaq cost Show the win at the end. The less wrestling celebrities have to do, the better.

well said, @richunclescrooge.

I guess that might be the reason why WWE isn't asking Rock to appear on the shows little more often. It may be just to preserve that celebrity feel of Rock. For a lot of casual fans, who have not been watching WWE since or before attitude era, Rock would be seen as an outsider. They would still be viewing Rock as someone who did a hit-n-run on not only Cena but on entire Rooster. He makes statements from outside, but doesn't come in the ring to wrestle/perform.

A celebrity doing a match on wrestle-mania is not required. Especially with such a potent feuds on the card already. Having said this, i am sure when main event Rock vs Cena will come, every one (And the Rock says Everyyyyyyone :) ), will forget who else is in the arena.

Wrestling purists, whatever the fuck that means, will always shit on the idea of having celebrity matches because they always suck from an in ring standpoint. But coming from someone who just wants to be entertained, I'm fine with it.

Everyone shits on Snooki being at Wrestlemania this year and I just don't get it. Sure the match sucked, but it would have sucked just as hard if it were any other Diva in that match. In fact, Snooki showing that she was a little more athletically gifted than anyone thought she would be made the match way more entertaining than anything else would have. Besides, she knew 2 moves and she did them okay, so she's just as good as pretty much any other Diva on the fucking roster.

Anyway, back on topic, I'd be fine with them adding another celebrity type to the card. Sure, Rock/Cena will probably draw a cool million, but it's not like they have a limit to how many buys they can draw. Some people won't care that Rock is getting back in the ring because a lot of folks just want to hear him work the mic. But if they were to convince someone like Shaq to work a match with Show, that has to be a bit of an attraction. Shaq is gifted enough of an athlete to work a match, Show has a history of working with non wrestling personalities, and they have a bit of history to boot.

So no, I guess they don't need one, but I'm not going to act like it would be a bad thing if they added a celebrity match. So what if it takes a spot that someone on the roster could be using? Apparently they aren't working hard enough if they're not worth putting on over a celebrity. Fuck 'em.

You're very out of touch. Jersey Shore is a pop phenomenon, Rock is "that shitty actor that used to be a wrestler". Rourke is an academy award winner, Mayweather is the best boxer on the planet. As an actor, Rock is a supporting guy in shitty action movies or the lead in shitty disney movies. Like I said, he was nominated for a Razzie, you know what a Razzie is right? It's the official academy awards for WORST everything.

Rock won't get that many non wrestling fans to like him. Shit most of his movie fans were his wrestling fans first. Seeing Rock go back to wrestling will get old wrestling fans back into it. It won't get other involvment.

Don't give the other celebrities a match, but they do need to be on the card.

Did you know Halle Berry was also voted for one? So was John Travolta I believe. All actors make bad movies.

The Rock has had a successful Movie Career and his Films have made alot of money. They might not be to your taste but calling him shitty is a little unfair. Are you one of them bitter idiots that was upset he left WWE?
