Does Smackdown Need Batista?

Nascarman

Occasional Pre-Show
I know Smack down has most of there star power out of action, but do they need Batista? I say no. I was really enjoying watching the mid carders step up. Morison, M Hardy, Ziggler, Finley, and Punk have been putting on a good show. I am sad to see it end. Now instead of these guys getting a chance at a ME spot the ME will most likely revolve around Batista and Undertaker all the way until Wrestle-Mania. Witch sucks
so anyone have an option on this?

IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW NOW YOU KNOW.

Yea Mate for the first time in a few years Smackdown was exciting to watch!. I dunno if people dislike Punk but I don't.Hes excellent no the mic ,can get the crowd hot and is awesome in the ring.
You now have Ziggler who is uprising and brings some innovative wrestling to his matches..and you now have Morrison who is finally given a push which is well deserved.

My look on Batista working on Smackdown now is these guys wont get that big push to main eventing a PPV for a while..
And when Jeff Hardy leftI thought the door was now fully wide open for Matt.. This now looks like a setback for him too.
Batista is a great face..kids and teens love him..I dont

Yea simply put man that puts it all into perspective.
The door that was finally possibly open for Matt Hardy/Morrison is shut half way for the Animal.. Stink yea?
Batista is a respected athlete..but people rip on cenas work ethic and "4 moves" ,when Batista is not that special. Smackdown is possibly my choice of a wwe show I wont miss now.. With Batista that excitement has been sucked out like a deflating balloon.

They didn't necessarily need him sent to Smackdown but I don't think it will hurt. I just hope he doesn't get shoved into the World Title scene while Punk and Taker are going at it. I think creative is pretty happy with Punk/Taker at the moment so I don't expect Batista to do anything near them, hopefully he'll just enter a good personal feud or something.

He can be boring as fuck in the ring and on the mic but he is a huge draw and pretty popular so it's logical for WWE to send him over to Smackdown who are lacking big main event talent at the moment, still hopefully they don't shove him down our throats and they continue with the building of Morrison, Ziggler and Punk.

Funny this is a thread, I just commented on this on another thread in the RAW section. I personally don't think any show needs Batista, as I don't really like him. I was saying on the other thread that I feel Batista will pull the overall feel of the show down. Smackdown has been continuously good because it's been relying mostly on good wrestling from good wrestlers. Bringing Batista back on Smackdown is good for RAW because it lightens their stacked roster. I think they brought him back for C.M. Punk to feud with after his program with the Undertaker. Personally, I think Batista is due for a heel turn. Think about it.. A feud with Morrison would build Morrison higher into the main event scene. A feud with Rey Mysterio I think would just be entertaining. Who knows when Edge comes back down the line, they could form a tag team like Rated RKO.

You know what, at first I would have said absolutely not. Smackdown has been the show most of 2009 in my opinion, and you will find very few that would be able to top it. It has all the wrestling you'd ever want, and solid programmes at every level, from WHC feuds to Women's title feuds. It has some of the best wrestlers in Punk, Morrison, Edge and Mysterio, and constantly produces many great matches and moments. Why would you possibly want to move a wrestler who is at the end of their tether to a show where everything seems to be running fine?

But then I got to thinking. I thought that this wasn't such a bad idea at all. Smackdown, while great, has used up a lot of it's available combinations. With Jeff Hardy gone and Mysterio suspended, Edge being on the shelf until early next year, things are starting to dip quite a bit. Smackdown NEED some big time stars to tide them over. Bringing back Taker was a good way to alleviate some of this, but Batista is a big star. I mean a BIG star. Whether you hate him or love him, whether you like his matches or not, the fact is that he gets a good reaction every single time he walks out. Plus he has a kick ass entrance.

I always thought that Batista faired better when working on Smackdown. He isn't as good as Cena, and I don't think he can work as well on Raw. But on Smackdown he seems to be more in his element, and the blue show has always treated him well. So all in all, a pretty good move.

Smackdown needed an over babyface to challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight title. This is the problem of having to many pay per views, I'm certain that Undertaker will get a rematch for the title at Hell In Cell. If they want to build Punk more they should put him over. And if Punk won, who else is there to face? Jeff Hardy is gone and Rey Mysterio got suspended, so the only other main eventer was The Undertaker. I think it was a good idea to bring in Batista so that when Punk is feuding with him they can build other guys like Matt Hardy and John Morrison as potential challengers for his title.

WWE reall hasn't had Batista on WWE TV for awhile and it hasn't really changed the ratings prior or now his injury happened. Batista has been known as an injury prone worker. But at the same time, having Batista draws on his ability to promote and sell tickets (which is a good success rate when he competes I guess) and having him onscreen also sells his merchandise. Sending him to Smackdown might work but they already have a pretty big Babyface to heel ration.

Lets be real about this, Professional Wrestling does not need Batista. The WWE Universe does not need Batista. He could be fired on a Friday, and forgotten by Monday like that one guy, ugh the one who said his name twice......he got injured a lot much like Batista, you know the one I'm talking about, shitty hair cut, bad tattoos? anyone? ANYONE?

From a ratings and story line stand point Raw was fine without him, Smackdown has been fine without him. He wont bring anything to the show that isn't already there. Sure they lost a mega face when Hardy left, and Undertaker is only part time and from the sounds of it his work rate has decreased, but it was still better than anything involving Batista.

The only void he'll fill, is the shitty over rated wrestler void Smackdown currently doesn't have filled

The way I see it, Batista joining Smackdown is the best move right now. Yes, the Blue Mid – Carders are doing well, but those Stars could use Batista to elevate themselves and the show in general. Imagine what a storyline with Batista could do for Morrison, Ziggler, Punk and Jericho when he drops the Tag Straps. Imagine what Batista could do when Rey come back and when Edge returns as a Face. Batista and the Great Khali vs. the Brothers of Destruction inside the Punjabi Prison would be a dream. #@#@!!

What about a PPV with all Punjabi Prison Matches!? #@#@#@#@!!

As much as I like Batista, it sucks he is going to SD. There are so many guys on SD that are just itching to break into the mainevent. Morrison is probably top of that ladder. But, as doubtful as this is, what if they use Batista to help put some of these guys over and into mainevent consideration? Think about it..Batista vs Morrison or Batista vs Hardy. I think those would be great matches.

As for Batista and Taker, thats done and over with...I hope. Those were some of the worst matches I have ever seen. But I think I know what is going to happen. Batista is going to come in and take the strap from Punk. At least, that is the logical move, given that most people still dont think Punk is a believable champion.

I'm of the opinion that at any time, you need 6 people that could legitimately challenge for the World Title on the two main brands, in order to keep things fresh. With Edge and Khali's injuries and Jeff's retirement, we're left with Jericho, Undertaker, Morrison, Punk and maybe Mysterio, which is 5. Over on Raw they had Big Show, Batista, Cena, Orton, HHH, Shawn Michaels, Mark Henry and maybe even MVP, which is 8. Therefore, the movde makes a lot of sense. Not to mention that of the 4 absolute bankers where one should be in every main event: Cena, HHH, Orton and Batista, all 4 were on Raw. With Hardy gone, this move definitely makes sense.

what makes smackdown better than raw is the wrestling and the push of young stars like ziggler and morrison and punk for that matter batista will ruin it for us all if he becomes world champion and feuding with jericho is a huge mistake jericho will put people over have him do it batista doesnt need it he should be doing the same we all know he doesnt have long left

SmackDown! needed the star power and Batista was a good pick just because he was so dominant on the brand before. There are a ton of guys though on the brand that are close to breaking out and I see how Batista coming on may hurt that, but those guys that could feud with him may just help them out. He's a big name and any kind of win would surely benefit them. We'll see where it goes but yes I think SmackDown! needed Batitsa!

SmackDown! needs Batista in the sense that they do need a top face along side with Undertaker back and Jeff out. Batista's best time in WWE was on the blue brand. Sure his best feud was with Triple on Raw, but his most dominant tenure was with SmackDown! In a way, yes SmackDown! needs Batista, but not as much as you would think. SmackDown! is doing a great job of getting guys like Morrison, Ziggler and Knox exposed and known. Batista has done a great job on SmackDown! before, so we'll see what he does this time around.

I personally don't think the WWE needs Batista, period. They did fine without him and I don't see how he will do anything to change it. He is still the same old boring wrestler he has always been to me.

I am really hoping they don't start taking anything away from the feuds they have going on right now. I love SD and what they have been doing and I would hate to see guys like Taker and Punk get screwed over just because Batista is back.
