Does Chris Jericho constantly putting over talent hurt his credibility?

do you remember when he was defeated by Heath Slater?? the moment the bell rang I was left with an open mouth. Of course I know it is scripted and all but when you see that and you see the other guy as a solid wrestler with great future, then Jerichos job is done.
so no, not at all, no a bit. maybe little kids that watch that kind of thing they say "oh he cant wrestle" but we know that aint true he is really good, he is the besta at what he does....as many said before me, he can have an awesome match/feud ala HBK at Mania XIX or put over a guy like Slater. as I said before I look since then SLater as a good wrestler.

Some very good responses here, i just want to clear up something

Although jericho obviously has credibility, i feel because he puts much talent over, it does not seem like a surprise or shock, someone just beat jericho, whereas when someone like a taker or cena, it is a big thing, therefore, putting that talent really over, it makes jericho seem like a beatable wrestler, all the time, which is bad since his motto is,''he is the best in the world at what he does'', that's what i mean.

I think it's very much due to the fact that Undertaker and John Cena was always pushed as some of the unstoppable people, and they're not working versatile matches with mid-carders and main eventers, holding titles at both places.

Jericho on the other hand, was never made out to be an unstoppable guy, in my eyes he was made out to be the normal guy who found a way to win when he did, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he lost.

Jericho keeps himself credible through great matches, being a guy who, while he's "easy to beat" he is still a tough opponent, someone who can pop a victory out of nowhere with the Codebreaker.

Plus Jericho has the whole "after match" revenge / punishment of putting his opponents in a Walls of Jericho, or hitting a Codebreaker on a celebrating opponent, while it comes off like he's a "coward" it still builds him as credible cause he can lay out his opponent like that.

Jericho is like Kane in that they're both A- or B+ characters. Not quite the penthouse wrestlers but not quite mid-card either. As long as Jericho wants to be there he'll always have a vital role in being able to keep a headliner busy between feuds (without them dropping down to fight someone who's not ready) or being used to help move an up-and-comer towards higher card matches.

Watching Jericho it's quite clear he's happy where he's at in his career and, for that, I say good on him. He's got a great attitude towards jobs and his place in the scheme of things

Simple answer: NO! Jericho doesn’t lose credibility by losing ton younger talents and putting them over. He's lost to R-Truth, JTG and Kofi (multiple times) over the past year and he still managed to be in one of the big four matches at WrestleMania and hold the world title going into the event. Jericho has reached a point where he can lose multiple times and still retain credibility because you know he's going to be in that main event scene sooner rather than later. Triple H and the Undertaker are also at this level and so is Cena. These men don't have to win every single match because they already have that main event credibility.

Chris Jericho is at a point in his career where he doesn't need a title belt or a manager or anything like that to stay over. He's been established for almost 10 years now and is a bona fide legend. The fact that he wants to put over new and younger guys is a credit to his professionalism.

Nope.

Jericho has never been who he is for dominating guys and winning match after match. No sir, thats your average Brock Lesnar, Goldberg, Undertaker, etc. Jericho is an upper mid carder who is highly respected for his mic work, and ability to play his gimmick to perfection. And I dont think it ever hurts Jericho's credibility when he loses a match because every now and than hes eventually back on the top. Yeah he jobbed to JTG, but months later he main evented Wrestlemania 26. Besides Jericho said so himself, before he retires he wants to put over the younger talent.

He is simply the best in the world, at what he does. And that is being an upper mid card guy. Still he is my favourite wrestler.
