do you like Puroresu

Wrestlingfan100

Pre-Show Stalwart
I became a fan of puroresu aka Japanese wrestling in 2009. An exciting year where the likes of KENTA{ Inovator of the GTS}, Kota Ibushi, Masato Yoshino etc were at their primes. Now you may only be aware of KENTA or none of them. Puroresu is for the purist wrestling fan, if you aren't such a big fan of the in ring stuff you probably won't enjoy 40-60 minute matches but if you are a wrestling nerd like myself which I understand few of you are and nothing is wrong with that in any way, shape or form. I just wanted to ask before I become tottally jaded, overly critical and generalizing of this forum. I like in ring stuff, a little bit more than promos{ I LOVE promos, I'm a very linguistic kind of guy and a creative writer, I really enjoy studying conversation and I love debates but that's another topic for another time.} I'm a big mark for catch-hand/ chain grappling and stiff striking attacks as well as creative combinations and epic sequences akin to kungfu/action films.

I found my favorite finisher from
watching Puro and found out many wrestlers in WWE use the puro style
such as Evan Bourne/Matt Sydal, CM Punk, Kofi Kingston{ VERY much}, Rey Mysterio, Tyson Kidd/TJ Wilson, Yoshi Tatsu.

I'm sorry if this topic is annoying to any hardcore WWE fan, I just like to debate about the world of professional wrestling and it's not my fault that there is world outside mainstream wrestling that I and many others enjoy. PEACE :D!

oh man another thread that tries to portray itself as a a "Discussion" when its main purpose was to let the OP let out some of his self righteous arrogance and basically tell the whole of WZ forums why he likes a certain style. There is no discussion here what so ever. The final sentence is enough evidence of that.

As for the topic....

Puro is great and i actually find it kind of funny that you say sydal, kingston, mysterio, kidd and tatsu use the puro style...are you mad? How did you even come to that conclusion? because they use kicks and one of them is asian? There style is nothing like puro in the slightest. It's pretty much the opposite.

Puro is great for some and boring for others, is that a bad thing? no! everyone likes different things and you are taking many sly shots at people who may not like puro in this.

This thread has really annoyed me if im honest. You didnt want a discussion, you wanted people to bow at your feet and call you the greatest fan ever because you like a obscure irrelevant japanese wrestling style. Try Again.

Definiately not dude sorry you got taht type of thing out of it. Kofi, Evan Bourne, Yoshi Tatsu and Tyson KIdd do use the asian styles.
Evan Bourne trained in Japan as well, he uses the shooting star press created by a Japanese legend and his mix of strikes and his focus on chain wrestling prove this. Kofi's moveset is chock full of puro moves his SOS is a Japanese wrestling move called a ranhei and he does the tornado kick/ jumping corkscrew roundhouse and Tyson Kidd uses the Lightning Spiral. I don't think I'm the greatest fan ever but I am the wrestling fan and if it's obscure why does it has millions of fans on youtube, you try again you fucking WWE mark.

It's not just him. I was going to respond to your post too but it jast came off as you being an obnoxious arse so I didn't. As for the wrestlers you listed, I'd agree about Tyson and Tatsu. Bourne has some aspects of puro in his moveset, but he doesn't do the mega stiff strikes, no selling or needlessly flashy moves. Kofi's a sloppy guy who knows how to jump. Unless that became the puro style recently, he's not a a puroresur. Moves to not make the wrestler.

And Danshoku uses a Canadian Destroyer, popularised by a small canadian wrestler and has an emphasis on comedy, so clearly he wrestles like Santino Marella. Oh wait...

And Wade Barrett's Wasteland is a commonly used move in Lucha Libre. Clearly he wrestles like a Mexican.

and he does the tornado kick/ jumping corkscrew roundhouse

And Richie Steamboat throws a lot of stiff looking kicks and chops around too. Does that make him a puro style wrestler too?

and Tyson Kidd uses the Lightning Spiral.

You mean the moss covered three handled family credenza as used by Perry Saturn, or the Golden Gate Swing as used by Alex Shelley, or the Final Destinatin as used by Leo Kruger? It's a fucking Fisherman's Neckbreaker. The move's origin has fuck all to do with whether that wrestler wrestles like a japanese guy or not.

And Let me put it this way: A-Train, MVP, Lance Archer and STRONGMAN all work in Japan. Do you REALLY want to sugest that it's a superior style when those shitheads have jobs out there?

I don't think I'm the greatest fan ever

And yet you're being increadably arrogant about the style of wrestling that has matches like this take place.

You know who else has millions more fans on Youtube? Natalie "Community Channel" Tran. Are you going to call her famous or even well known in the real world? Puro's a form of wrestling watched by the minority in the USA. Accept it and move on.

I know it's watched by a minority in the US, I was just asking if there are any other puro fans here because it gets boring just talking about WWE and tNA. I never said Puro is the best form of wrestling, NEVER.
There can't be a best style just like I can't believe there is a best wrestler. Evan Bourne has worked stiff in some matches, watch his matches with Matt Striker and Chris Jericho, alright peace, sorry if I came off as smug, sometimes I do that. I'm honestly pretentious behind
a meek and mild mannered-non confrontational personality.

I think it's alright, and I enjoy it when I watch it. However, I don't like it as much as I like lucha Libre, and I barely have the time to watch one obscure international wrestling product online, let alone two, so it doesn't hold much of my attention. I'm not a huge fan of the stiffer wrestlers though, as I don't really see the point when I can watch an actual competitive sport elsewhere where they are stiffer because it is real. The flashier little guys are more my cup of tea, but like I say I don't really go looking for it.
