I was just thinking do we know to much about wrestling.. do you think that because of things like tough enough, documentrys and certain DVDs that some of the magic has gone
For instance like a good magician everyone finds the tricks cool but once we know how to do them we ourselves we lose intrest in them tricks
Do you think that has happened to wrestling?
Cos we know how certain things work like when the wrestlers blade themselves to bleed making it look like that it was a big chair shot?
Back before all these DVDs and documentrys came around maybe we apprieciated the product more?
As the saying goes " ignorrance is bliss "
Does this apply to wrestling?
Whats your thoughts?

Maybe But I No That Im Happier Noing These Things Im Enlightened I Understand How It Works And That Gives Me A Greater Appresiation 4 It

i def. agree with that, like you said once you know all the tricks you lose interest. i was thinking about when i first started watching wrestling i never new any websites, never new any spoilers, ect.. but now i thinik i have kinda ruined it for my self because i know to much

I kno all the tricks and I havnt lost intrest... Personally I like knowing more about wrestling then anyone I kno..

but dont it seem strange when the likes of shawn micheals will blatantly put their hand up wile recieving a chair shot.. but still manage to bleed???

dude when i watch wrestling my mom ask what are we watching i tell her wrestling and than she changed the channel and than changed it back and asked me what happend what going on and i am like just watch it

Well yes they do that a lot... But they also sometimes take the shots... Like when Triple H took the sledge hammer shot... And HBK took the camera shot... Ive seen many times that they cut themselves.. It really doesnt bother me... Wrestling is kind of like a soap opera... you can always tell whats coming..

While there is nothing inherently wrong with knowing “too much” about professional wrestling, it could potentially take away some enjoyment of watching wrestling. I personally know a lot about wrestling in terms of its history and how it has evolved over time, but it has never taken away from my enjoyment of wrestling. Some people, on the other hand, are obsessed with knowing everything about wrestlers’ personal lives as well as keeping up on all the rumors/spoilers. I don’t know if these people actually enjoy wrestling, but I personally am not interested in knowing too much about those kinds of things. I also don’t really read too much spoilers unless I knew I wasn’t going to be able to watch a certain show or whatnot. I used to be more obsessed with these information when I was younger, but now I’m older (in my 30’s) I find myself just having casual interests in wrestling and watching it as a fan than rather an overly-analytical critic.

I was just about to say something like that... I realized that a lot of the people on these forums dont watch wrestling as fans anymore... More like critics... Then I could see you saying "we know to much"

I try to keep myself away from critisizing it... But theres somethings I like and dislike... But i'll always just be a wrestling fan...

I do think that the wrestling fans being "smarter" these days in terms of how things work..and what's goin on backstage and crap is bad for the business. Sites like Wrestlezone, Rajah, and the other news sites are bad for the wrestling business as a whole. For people that were wrestling fans back in the WWF's glory days(The 80's and early 90's), they'll tell you that it was so much better to watch back then. Not that we don't like what we're seeing now...but we do know too much. I was watching MSG Classics today on the MSG network(I live in NY) and it showed an event from the Garden in 1988 shortly after Wrestlemania 4. Particularly in the matches between Bret Hart and Bad News Brown or the WWF World Title match between Macho Man Randy Savage and Ted Dibiase, you could clearly notice the difference. It was more of a slow-paced kinda product....sure but they sold everything to hell. During the match, there was a point in it where Randy Savage just simply took Dibiase's arm and hit it on the top rope, and Dibiase sold the move like hell. The moves that we'd consider to be probably the least effective moves now were sold in such a way that it looked like they really hurt.

And also a big difference between them and now is that EVERYTHING got a response. Every single time that Randy Savage or Bret Hart hit a move during their matches or even threw a punch, the fans were cheering. The second that the WWF started bringing kayfabe into the business, everything changed...and I believe it changed for the worse. I'm still a fan and all....but I don't think there's enough mystery in the game anymore.

I think it really depends on how you look at it. If you know the moves, and the history of wrestling, and how it works- it doesn't necessairly take away from the enjoyment of the matches. It might make you criticise the matches more than you normally would- but I generally don't find that as a bad thing. Stuff like spoilers and other things- like rumors, which are also wrestling information can ruin the enjoyment of a show. Just like when I read spoilers about SD, I don't enjoy the show as much. I think it makes you a better wrestling fan to be knowlagbel (sp?) about wrestling- about knowing things like what kayfabe is. A lot of people say that smarks and the such take away from the show but, I disagree.
