Did Nigel McGuinness really retire due to Hep C?

I keep reading everywhere that he retired due to Hep C.. but in this interview with Bill Apter he states that he retired on his own accord and that there is more he will reveal later.

What could this be???

I really loved his in ring work and thought he would be a really big star at one point, and I can't help but feel sorry for the guy due to Hep C. But if he doesn't have Hep C would a return be in his future?

I didn't even know he had retired. Wow this is news to me. This sucks I thought the guy had a bright future in the wrestling world. I hope Hep C isn't the case...

He has some sort of neck injury, one that made the WWE pass on him. That may have been what made him retire.

That's weird. Coulda sworn I just saw him work a show here in Hamilton just a few weeks ago, for HWA (his REAL home promotion, btw). Must've been another Nigel MCGuinness with an iron and coming to the ring using "Roll On" by The Living End....

The rumor was he had Hepetitis C, he never said anything on the matter and sources were constantly saying that is what he had. Than people just put two-and-two together, because WWE didn't allow him to sign due to "health issues", however legally nobody can disclose they have Hep C other than the person themselves.

Also, he was out of retirement. Wrestled a few matches before Christmas, but he has said he won't return to somewhere such as Ring of Honor as a performer until he feels 100%. Because he doesn't wish to tarnish his image. And his outing after his return didn't get very positive reviews from wrestling critics such as PWI etc.

Plus he could be enjoying commentating.
