I know that it might be early but since that there is another thread on here claiming that TNA needs another Royal Rumble to determine the no.1 contender for the World Title at BFG, bearing the fact the we know it is impossible for TNA to copy the same exact concept of the match, I question you what would be TNA's best way to determine the no.1 contender, put in mind that Sting booked his way to the mainevents of the last two BFGs without facing any other wrestler to determine the no.1 contender.
Obviously there are two choices, the first is a Battle Royal type match, with most of the stars in the ring and the winner goes to BFG, the problem is that a PPV depending mainly on a Battle Royal would fail miserably for TNA, because lets face it they don't have the star power nor the roster depth like WWE, thus putting most of the upper card and the mainevent in one match would make other matches seem uninteresting, even if they used the Gauntlet for the Gold, people would start moaning about how it is a cheap Rumble ripoff while if they did a normal battle royal with more than one ring people would moan about how TNA is nothing more than WCW ripoff with low budget plus it is distracting and outdated as well.
On the other hand there is the choice that I believe is the better of the two, which is doing a tournament, two months before BFG at early to mid August to give them time to promote the mainevent just like the Rumble make it 8 men tournament , or 16 men tournament, preferrably 8, they can use the ranks they put on Before the Bell and then can book pre qualifying matches with 10 minute time limit on iMPACT!, they can start with wrestlers who are low ranked from 17-24 then the winners will face wrestlers ranked from 9-16 and then the winners will face those ranked from 1-8, the 8 finalists will complete the tournament matches however this time on PPV, with the first round matches being 10 minute time limit , the second round being 20 minute time limit matches and the final round being a 30 minute time limit match, this will also help build feuds to start after this PPV and lead to BFG, this can also build new stars since the winner will have passed many obstacles in his way, also this provides more entertainment and action and guarntees interest in the undercard matches, add a title defense, a tag team match, an X-Division match and if time allows a knockout match and this PPV which should be given a proper name is something fans defenitly will be interested in.
I guess they should test the waters for a tournament type PPV this sunday at AAO and if it worked , then why not try this and give us a proper no.1 contender with a beliveable way for why he is maineventing the company's supposedly biggest show of the year.
