Daniel Bryan's "Release" - The Spam Version

Punk had to work very hard to get the stink of Paul Heyman and the minor leagues off of him in the eyes of many. I don't see them bringing in the far blander and shorter Danielson and it being a different story (sans Heyman).

The IWC's been mentioned a show that only hardcore, can't-get-enough wrestling fans watch. I don't think it's that big of a deal.

The last point is a good one, but after years of Vince's BS, I don't have the faith.

I want to believe. So badly. Really.

Think of this then.

Vince doesn't care what the IWC thinks according to you right? If he believes that the people are only going to believe what they see on WWE.com, then he believes the masses think Danielson has been released. What better way to SHOCK them than by having Danielson show up soon after his release while getting in a tiny jab at us by having us go on a wild goose chase like we've been doing, looking at every word like it will solve the mystery?

You think the average fan found that tiny link tucked away on the main page of WWE.com? I might buy it if it was splashed all over the main page, but it isn't even close to standing out.

He's looking for indy bookings and his friends on the indy scene are being told it's legit. Maybe it's time to give up, Remix. I don't like paying for the DVDs either, but we'll just have to live with it.

On a balance of probability, it's legit. No question about it. However, I like a court of law am awaiting proof beyond all reasonable doubt. If it does turn out to be legit, so be it and good luck to Bryan Danielson in the indies. If not, then McMahon is probably *********ing over all of our reactions right now.

For the record, for me to take it as proven beyond all reasonable doubt, it'd have to be news straight from the horses mouth. i.e. Danielson either publicly states words to the effect of 'I have been released from my WWE contract...' or he is silently written out of the NXT Invasion storyline. Until then work until proven shoot (which it is as close to being proven as the OJ Simpson murders).

EDIT: And KB, you're reading too much into this. Look at how many people here were completely unable to find the article on the website. And that's members of the IWC, WHO WERE FUCKING LOOKING FOR THE ARTICLE. There won't be a significant number of people who'll read into it and be intregued by it.

You think the average fan doesn't check the website like they're constantly told to? Like they're told to buy the PPVs and watch the TV shows? Do you think kids aren't checking every single thing they see on there so they can be "smart?"

The reasonable doubt thing. There's still reasonable doubt. How amazing is it that we've gone this insane in a day and a half? Any chance this could be what VInce wanted? How many of you are going to watch Raw to find out what you can about it?

If I'm 12, I'm not getting past the spashes divas and links to diva photos. And if I am, I'm certainly not scrolling down, clicking over to the "WWE News" section, and then not ignoring everything else in favor of the Power 25.

Remix, why exactly isn't the burden of proof on those accusing WWE of pulling something suspicious?

Me, but imagine how that number will drop if he doesn't show up...

I let WWE get away with everything, but this has even annoyed me.

I could never stop watching, but this is as close as I've ever been to that

On this: half the kids posting on the forums about this couldn't even find that news link. It took both Dave and I to post screencaps pointing out the section they never checked to get them to see, and there are still people who miss it. And these are supposed IWC fans who, in your given possible explanation, are supposed to find this stuff and lap it up.

^^

This...if it was a work I'd expect it to have been on the main site, or even an on air firing

Problem KB, the IWC does NOT make up a significant proportion of Vince's audience, and most of the people tuning into Raw would have done so anyway.

I've thought of this and concluded that I treat news with differing levels of trust. If the highest public source is from the person who it's about, it's shoot until proven work (ala John Morrison's ankle injury earlier this year), if the highest source is WWE.com, it's work until proven shoot (like now), if it's a dirtsheet, it's taken with a pinch of salt and a shot of tequila. If it's a nonsourced forum post, it's bullshit until proven otherwise.

I'm playing devils advocate, if there is an argument daniel can raise numbers with this possible work, then he can sure as hell lower them as well.
Is there really such an argument?

I love how everyone thinks that an IWC work involving Daniel Bryan would be worth using to build anticipation for the most heavily anticipated Raw in ages. Come on, guys...

Nobody sane believes that Danielson will raise the numbers on his own. If he could, don't you think ROH would be bigger than it is?

Come on, KB. I did account for Vince logic like "Ain't no headliner like a homegrown headliner" and so on. That's gotta count for something.

KB, that is a terrible, terrible arguement. Vince is many things, however an illogical madman is not one of them. He has an inordinate amount of faith in his ideas (evidenced by his belief in the XFL and his other disasterous ventures), but that doesn't give him a warped mind. It makes him an egomaniac, sure. But an egomaniac does not a raving loony make.

Yeah, it kind of does. Vince is crazy. He always has been and always will be.

Think about this though: Most of the stuff on WWE.com is in Kayfabe. If it's mentioned on WWE Corporate then its legit. Also, Vince is probably thinking to himself (as I've said many, many times) YEA! I have the "Internet" in the palm of my hands! They think Bryan Danielson has been released for real and yet, this is the exact same thing I've done with Matt Hardy. WE GOT EM AGAIN!

Most of the stuff on WWE.com is kayfabe, but released posts with the FE stamp have never been fake.

Plus the only releases put on the Corporate website are drug related ones.
