Daniel Bryan was the 1000th World Heavyweight Champion in Professional Wrestling

Mid-Card Championship Winner
As some of you have read in a previous post of mine, I've been scouring the Earth making a record of all the professional wrestling world heavyweight champions. I think I have a pretty definitive list with the 35 titles included here.

Now, when I noticed that there were 1012 reigns on that list, I decided I wanted to find out who #1000 was.

Counting down from 1012:

• 1012- Yuji Nagata (Feb 8, GHC)
• 1011- Takeshi Morishima (Jan 5, GHC)
• 1010- Satoshi Kojima (Jan 4, NWA)
• 1009- Randy Orton (Dec 15, WHC)
• 1008- Magnus (Dec 3, TNA)
• 1007- Randy Orton (Oct 27, WWE)
• 1006- John Cena (Oct 27, WHC)
• 1005- Akebono (Oct 27, AJPW)
• 1004- AJ Styles (Oct 20, TNA)
• 1003- Adam Cole (Sep 20, ROH)
• 1002- Daniel Bryan (Sep 15, WWE)
• 1001- Randy Orton (Aug 18, WWE)
• 1000- Daniel Bryan (Aug 18, WWE)

If we count all those 35 titles as World titles, then Daniel Bryan is officially the 1000th World Champion of the world.

That's a pretty amazing feat if you ask me.

Of course, his position might change if I ever add another title to that list. The only other ones I've considered are the SMW and UWF heavyweight titles. But I actually haven't found any record that they were called "world" titles, so the list will probably stay as it is, and Daniel Bryan will stay as the official 1000th Champion!

Fairly cool fact.

Have we hit 100 WWF/E Champions yet in history or is that number still really low?

Orton's current reign is the 116th different reign.

Daniel Bryan was the 44th different champion.

So there's been 116 total reigns but only 44 different Champions?

Huh. Feedback got banned?

Interesting fact either way. I guess not recognising other promotions champions has its drawbacks, eh? Cool For DB, someone should hit him up on twitter if they think he'd read it. Maybe Hallmark do a card for that?

Some of these are stretches to say the least.

World Wrestling All-Stars?
IWA (Australia), meaning a title only active in Australia in the 60s/70s?
Pro Wrestling Guerilla?

Those are on the same level as the NWA or WWE Titles? Really?
