Daniel Bryan/CM Punk

So, after last night's Raw, it is obvious that CM Punk is going to feud with Daniel Bryan for The US Title.

My question is this...

Is that a step backward for CM Punk?

Being the fact that he has already held numerous "Mid-Card" titles and has been a multiple time World Heavyweight Champion. Punk has defeated in high profile matches, the likes of The Undertaker, Jeff Hardy, Edge, just to name a few.

Not to say Daniel Bryan won't be a big name one day. He is on the fast track to do exactly that. But, his name is nowhere near the guys I mentioned before, including CM Punk himself.

I see the WWE Title picture is pretty cloudy at the moment. You have Orton as Champ, Sheamus had just tried to regain the title he lost to him. Now, Barrett is feuding with Orton, and looks like he will probably dethrone "The Viper". Plus, Cena is hovering around and right in the middle of that situation. Then you also have The Miz, laying in the weeds, waiting to pounce and cash in his briefcase.

I personally like the idea of a feud with Punk and Bryan. I think there will be some great matches that come from the pairing of those 2. But, I am kind of torn in my decision for this one, because a part of me thinks they should both be receiving a push and not at the expense of one another.

While I do believe it will be an awesome feud, I think I would like to see Punk feud with Morrison to figure out who would be one of the next challengers to the WWE title, against whoever is champion in a couple months.

I also believe that Bryan would be interesting and relevant by just defending the US title against all comers. No matter who they throw at him, whether it be a Heel or a Face. Instead of Bryan having the same competition with different match styles over the next couple months. It would be cool to just see him face different opponents and not be focused into one exact storyline.

I think in a sense, this could bring even more of the needed credibility to the US Title. Bryan defending often against many different opponents, and holding it for a significant amount of time. If WWE does this right, The US Title could be the belt that Bryan "Re" built!!
