that falls more into killing people for the sake of killing them. if they are held mentally competent (which who knows what that war did to people) then they should be executed. senseless killing with malicious intent is unacceptable, accidental collateral damage is something else.

Yeah, capital punishment is lame. Have him rot in jail. Of course, you'll have to actually set reasonable jail times for the petty thieves and marijuana dealers to make room for the life in jail guys, but it comes out cheaper in the end.

It goes with the whole "...uhhh...our country shouldn't be killing its citizens..." thing.

Obviously, none of you have had anyone close to you murdered, I have.

That is one of the lamest arguments you can make. For a number of reasons:

1) I have had a uncle killed by a drug dealer. Maliciously killed. Like he was beaten, tied up, and left to die in his home. Then he was stabbed and left. Then he was shot and left. Then he was finally burned alive in the home. I still don't support capital punishment for that drug dealer.

2) The only other person I've seen make an argument like "You've obviously never been affected (by heinous crime)..or you'd see it my way" was also slammed by me when I told him exactly how I was affected by said heinous crime, and still didn't sponsor his outrageous form of punishment.

3) You're assuming that you're correct, and anyone else who disagrees simply isn't as smart as you, or simply doesn't know what they're talking about. We're speaking of morals here, there are no definitive rights or wrongs.

Well, with a jury it's a case by case scenario. If the jury, who are just like you guys making judgements right now, if they decide that you deserve life in prison then thats what you get. If they decide otherwise you get otherwise.

I think it truly depends on the case one is discussing as to what the proper punishment is. You have to take many things into consideration.

I lean towards capital punishment now and again, but there are too many moral contradictions for my liking.
