Gorilla:Good evening everybody, and welcome to the World's Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden, where tonight Crosstime Wrestling International presents its incredible debut event, Grand Opening! I'm Gorilla Monsoon and I'll be calling the blow-by-blow with the help of my color man here, Jerry "The King" Lawler...
King: I don't know about you, Gorilla, but the match I'm looking forward to the most is the evening gown bout with Trish Stratus and Wendi Richter!(cackles)
Gorilla: For me, King, the feature attraction of the night is our main event-- the 'crazy eights' elimination match which will determine our first world heavyweight champion. With the likes of Frank Gotch, Antonio Inoki, and "The Animal" Dave Batista involved, it promises to be a showdown for the ages...
King: You can say that again!
Gorilla: Right now, however, let's head to the ring for our opening bout-- the 'Battle of the Olympians' match between Kurt Angle and Ken Patera.
CUT TO: Ring announcer Gary Michael Capetta standing in the center of the ring.
Capetta: The following contest is our opening match, the 'Battle Of The Olympians' bout, scheduled for one fall!(Camera fades to the aisle leading from the backstage area to the ring as "Olympic Hero" starts blasting over the Garden PA)Introducing first, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, weighing at 221 pounds, Kurt Angle!
King(off-camera as red, white,& blue pyrotechnics go off behind Angle): I wouldn't want to be in Ken Patera's shoes right now...the Olympic Hero looks like he could win this bout just by glaring at him!
Gorilla(off-camera): Don't be too quick to award Kurt the victory, King... he still has to contend with Patera's devastating full nelson!
Capetta(standing to Angle's left inside the ring): And his opponent...(John Williams' "Olympic Fanfare" starts playing as Ken Patera walks out from behind the curtain)....from Portland, Oregon, weighing in at 275 pounds, Ken Patera!
Gorilla(off-camera): The crowd on its feet for Ken Patera as he steps into the ring....and Angle nails him with a roundhouse right to start the match!
King(off-camera): You don't get to be an Olympic gold medalist by wasting time, Gorilla...
Gorilla(off-camera): No indeed.... and Patera isn't wasting much time either-- Irish-whips Angle into the ropes....and a wicked clothesline!
King(off-camera): C'mon, Kurt, get up! Show this crowd what you're made off!
Gorilla(off-camera): Patera with the armbar on Kurt Angle, and the 1996 Olympic gold medalist in a tight spot trying to reach the ropes to break the hold...and he makes it! Patera arguing with referee Nick Patrick-- big mistake, turning your back on your opponent. And Angle makes him pay for it with a forearm shot to the chest!
King(off-camera): That's it, Kurt, kick his butt and let everyone here see what a real Olympic hero looks like!
Gorilla(off-camera): Give me a break! Scoop slam by Angle, and the fans here at MSG are not too thrilled about the way this match is going...most of them are solidly behind Ken Patera...
King(off-camera): How could that be, Gorilla? Patera never even made it to-- WHOA! Did you see that dropkick?!!
Gorilla(off-camera): I not only saw it, King, I felt it...Angle now setting Patera up for his patented Angle Slam! If he connects with it, this match is over....Down goes Patera! Angle with the cover--1...2...Patera kicks out, and Angle can't believe it!
King(off-camera): Neither can I! I thought for sure the Olympic Hero had this match won!
Gorilla(off-camera): Let that be a lesson to you, King: Never count your chickens before they're hatched. Patera nails Angle with a German suplex, and it could be just a matter of time before we see his patented full nelson in action...
King(off-camera): I can't look!
Gorilla(off-camera): Patera setting up Angle--there's the full nelson! He's got it locked in airtight, and Kurt can't shake him loose! Nick Patrick calling for the bell, and the first match of Grand Opening is officially in the books!
CUT TO: Patera playing to the crowd and Angle stumbling out of the ring in a daze as Gary Michael Cappetta gets ready to officially announce the outcome of the bout.
Cappetta: Your winner, as the result of a submission, Ken Patera!
Gorilla(off-camera): Ken Patera wins our opening bout, and the crowd at the Garden's happy about it, even if my broadcast partner isn't...
King(off-camera, irate): Kurt was robbed, Gorilla!
