Could we be seeing the start of the tag division revival?

I've always like the idea of Borne and Gabriel, but I just don't see how they would ever team up especially any time soon cause Nexus recently jumped Bourne.

I don't think anything will really come from it.. the tag division just isn't the same anymore.. compared to 10 years ago.. Santino and Kozlov are again 2 guys put together!! and yes i agree they are a good team and santino can really get the crowd going.. but as for revival of the tag division.. NOPE... thats just my opinion!

I don't understand why everyone uses the term "2 guys put together". Isn't that how a tag team works? Rated RKO-2 guys put together, Jericho & Edge-2 guys put together, London & Kendrick-2 guys put together, Miz & Morrison...need I go on? Just because a tag team doesn't debut together doesn't mean they are shit or unworthy of being a tag team. Everyone complains that there's no tag teams in WWE, then when the WWE finally puts 2 guys together (ie. Santimir Kozella) they get chewed to shit for putting them together! Everyone bitches about the Hart Dynasty splitting but they weren't getting big enough pops. It's better that the WWE split them while they still get pops rather then let them both sink down to a level where they can't be brought back to popularity. The WWE does things for a reason obviously...Barretta and Hawkins kept their jobs because they were the better of their teams. It's business...

@nbieclkl91 I completely agree. By the replies, most people only think a true tag team have to be life long pals, walked the path together. Not how it works. Dre & Cody is a great example. Worked tremendously in the ring, completely irrelevant to eachother. I don't always want to see a team with the same damn gimmick and persona, that gets boring. To me, the WWE just stepped it up, something we've never seen so I gotta say bravo.

The reason most people prefer tag teams that debut together is because historically these are the more successful teams. The New Age Outlaws and Miz & Morrison are two rare examples of “two guys put together” having success as a team. When a team debuts together we believe they actually want to compete in the tag division and become tag team champions. We need to believe they want to compete together in order for us to care about them. When guys like Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre or Mark Henry and Yoshi Tatsu are thrown together it’s obvious that it is because their singles careers are floundering and creative doesn’t have anything better for them. It’s like a demotion. Another problem is these new thrown together teams pretty much immediately get a title shot. It would be ok if there was some sort of story where Rhodes and McIntyre decided to join forces to take over the tag division and worked their way up. Instead they were just seemingly randomly put together and their first match together was against the champs. Like a lot of these teams as soon as they dropped the titles the team was split up. Why should we care about another thrown together team when it’s likely they’ll be broken up within a couple months?

A lot of people say tag team wrestling is dead because it doesn’t draw. Tag team wrestling can be a very exciting part of the show. When Hulk Hogan was drawing the houses in the 80s it was The Hart Foundation, British Bulldogs, Rockers, Brain Busters, Rougeau Brothers, and other great teams putting on the best matches of the night and getting some big reactions from the crowd. I realize it’s a different era, but if creative cared about the tag division the fans would too. I highly doubt Santino and Kozlov will revive the division but I have hopes we will see an important tag division again someday. I just won’t get those hopes up too high.

Funny. The same thing was expected when the feud between The Colons and Miz/Morrison developed. It was expected again with Chris Jericho/Big Show, The Legacy and DX in fold. It was expected again when the Hart Dynasty got their push. It was expected yet again when The Usos showed up. What's the difference this time? None. WWE didn't give a damn yesterday, they aren't gonna give a damn today. Regardless of who's champion. If DX didn't bring it up when they had them why today with a comedy tag team?
