Conan's Last Stand LD

DA-DA Da Da Da Bah Da Da DADADA
Tonight is the end of an era as Conan O'Brien gets forced out of NBC. I didn't even think he'd make it to tonight, and I'm shocked NBC is letting him go on.

So, let's remember the good times. Post your favorite Conan clips here and let's reminisce about how great he was. Let's also talk about how much we're going to miss him, and let's watch his last night hosting his dream job in unison.

I'll kick it off with Conan at FAO Schwartz:

I'm just stunned by the whole situation. Not surprised, because I always knew that Conan sucked and wouldn't be the right guy to take over for Leno, but still stunned that it happened like THIS.

someone please summarize the leno-conan feud for me.

Basically, Leno announced his retirement and handed the Tonight Show over to Conan. Then he kept delaying it a year at a time and finally last Spring he retired. That lasted a few weeks and NBC more or less gave up an hour of prime time a night to Leno to save money, hoping he would get decent ratings. It BOMBED. So they more or less say "well Conan, thanks for uprooting your family and staff and moving 3000 miles, but we're giving it back to Jay because 6 monhs in your ratings are down and even though Jay got his ass handed to him for two years, we have zero confidence in you so we're moving you back to midnight so Jay can be the spotlight again since he won't just go away like he said he would." In essence, Leno bombed but NBC is too in love with him to blame him at all so they're saying Conan didn't deliver in 6 months, despite NBC being fucking clueless. So more or less Conan was told we're putting Jay back on and you acn deal with it. Conan said he wasn't going to do that and he's done.

I just watched that Youtube video that was posted from his show in 2004, and he said he would step aside in 2009.

Which was last year, which means there wouldn't have been any delays.

Hmm. It might have changed in between there because I distinctly remember it being delayed time and time again.

Exactly. His comedy is better suited for there anyway. People need to let go of this love of Leno and his tired act.

Did anyone else see the segment the other night where Conan played "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" for no reason other than making NBC pay $1.5 in royalties?

He did the same thing last night by showing an NFL game without getting the expressed written permission of the NFL.
