Just a reminder: I have decided to rename this thread so that we can just use it for all the coming attractions for next year too. Or rather, Mitch can use it then too...
Still, I guess I should talk about something.
Last night, I watched the trailer I posted in this here thread for Grave Encounters. Apparently, it has been given an official release date for the 25th of August 2011. Now, it has been shown at other film festivals and has received mostly good press reviews in that time. Personally, I think it is the only film of 2011 that I am actually chomping at the bit to witness with my own eyes. Yes, there is The Inbetweeners Movie and Paranormal Activity 3 to look forward to as well.
But really, when I think about the movies that I actually cannot do without seeing, Grave Encounters sits alone at the top of that list and that's the way it will stay for the foreseeable future. For those of you who have not seen the trailer, I strongly advise looking back through this thread and finding the trailer, If you are into shaky camera horror flicks like [REC], then I doubt you will be disappointed.
Great! A lot of people should already know about the teaser trailers for The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises, but there will be some more trailers in the future, and I can't wait to see them. Also, I'm looking forward to seeing the other trailers for some of the big name films in 2012.
A Lonely Place To Die
Release Date: September 9, 2011 (UK Only)

"follows a group of five mountaineers hiking and climbing in the Scottish Highlands. When they discover a young girl buried alive in a small chamber in the wilderness they become caught up in a terrifying game of cat and mouse with the kidnappers as they try to get the girl to safety."
A US release date hasn't been set yet, and this film will probably go straight to DVD/Blu-Ray, when it hits the US.
A Lonely Place To Die could be a nice action-thriller flick, but the trailer doesn't excite me at all. The majority of this trailer looks dull, but there could be some good moments of suspense here and there. I don't expect too much from this film, but this could be worth watching on DVD.
Twixt

A writer with a declining career arrives in a small town as part of his book tour and gets caught up in a murder mystery involving a young girl. That night in a dream, he is approached by a mysterious young ghost named V. He's unsure of her connection to the murder in the town, but is grateful for the story being handed to him. Ultimately he is led to the truth of the story, surprised to find that the ending has more to do with his own life than he could ever have anticipated.
As far as the release date goes, one hasn't been set yet, but this film will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Francis Ford Coppola's name should draw a good amount of people to this film. This is HIS movie, because he is the writer, director, and producer for this one.
I like Val Kilmer. He's a solid actor, but he does have a bad habit of picking shitty films, but Twixt could be the spark he needs. The story for this film sounds intriguing, and this trailer does look very creepy. This could be a good horror flick, and I really want to watch this film. I have been waiting for another film from Coppola, and I can only watch Tetro so many times.
The Rift

Since a few decades they were watching us. Studying us. What are they? Nobody knows. Nobody but Ivan Petrenko Karkarov. The Russian physicist started to study a phenomenon which was occurring since several decades. In 1982 he found an answer to the strange phenomenon but before he could tell anyone he mysteriously vanished. 30 years later, in Newell Iowa, Dean Hollister seems to be a normal guy until strange radar anomalies appear throughout the world. All of a sudden something starts to happen at the sky, black rifts appear. Behind those rifts something is moving. It's watching us.
This film will hit theaters in 2012, but The Rift doesn't have an official release date yet.
The story for this film doesn't excite me, but I love alien invasion films, so I will watch this one, when it hits theaters next year. This is just the teaser, but this little bit of footage does look good. The Rift is a very low budget film ($50,000 estimated) so I don't expect to see any flashy explosions and large-scale battle scenes. Still, The Rift could spooky, and there could be some nice moments of tension here.
