Coming Attractions Thread

Grave Encounters - Welp, looks like another found footage horror movie trying to capitalize on the success of all the other found footage horror movies. Granted, I do like the idea of it being a film crew trying to find ghosts as opposed to having the misfortune of being haunted in their home or in the woods or wherever, which is kind of a cool spin on things. I'd see it.

Melancholia

Premiering next month at the Cannes Film Festival

Two sisters find their relationship challenged as a nearby planet threatens to collide into the Earth.

I just had to post this one despite the fact it won't be in theatres for awhile because it's generating a lot of attention and because it's fucking Lars von Trier. This trailer has got me pretty excited. Besides the concept being really intriguing, I think the gorgeous cinematography is what did me in. The phenomenal line up of actors they've got on board doesn't hurt either. I cannot wait to see this.

Our Idiot Brother

Release Date: August 26, 2011

Ned (Rudd) is a well-meaning idealist who has just been released from prison for dealing cannabis. In succession, he disrupts the lives and homes of his three sisters: career-driven Miranda (Banks), who is about to get her big break in journalism; bisexual hipster Natalie (Deschanel), whose lies are preventing her from moving forward with her responsible girlfriend Cindy (Rashida Jones); and Liz (Mortimer), who is too concerned with being the perfect mother to notice that her marriage is falling apart.

This could be funny. The story here doesn't sound that great, but this film seems like it has a nice set of interesting characters. Paul Rudd's films can be hit and miss as far as quality goes. I might give this one a chance, because Rudd's free spirited hippie character does look hilarious.

I don't really know what to say about that movie, other than it looks like every other Paul Rudd movie ever created.

That being said, I have seen almost all of them haven't felt cheated or let down just yet. I do feel as though he is working far too much these days and although he clearly has some comedic talent, he is squandering it in movies that are never going to anything more than B-Class movies. He is certainly not a name that I think anyone would go out of their way to see and this movie looks like more of the same from the same cast of people. Elizabeth Banks and Paul Rudd seem to be inseparable in these kinds of movies.

The again, this one does have Zooey Deschanel included, so maybe it wont be the flick that I am sure it will be. Having watched the trailer, I have mixed emotions about it. I mean, it looks like some fun but is it any better than what we have been seeing from Paul Rudd? Is this better than the 40 Year Old Virgin? I say probably not but this might be worth a look when it is available to rent.

I'm going to give this a shot, seeing how I saw a preview for this earlier and no one else has gotten to it yet, maybe with good reason.

Bridesmaids
Release Date" May 13, 2011

The story is of two best friends, Lillian (Maya Rudolph) and Annie (Kristen Wiig). When Annie finds out about Lilian being engaged, she is asked to be the maid of honor. She accepts and is happy until she finds out about all the things the maid of honor has to do and all hell breaks loose when they travel to Vegas for the party that none of them will forget in their lifetime.

... I don't know. It's from Apatow and normally I like most of his projects and the story does have some promise, but the trailer left me largely uninterested. I didn't see anything funny at all except for the big girl from Gilmore Girls and Mike & Molly who seems to have a couple of funny lines as the most manly of the women on the show. Overall, until I hear some reviews of the movie, I'm waiting for it to come to the Red Box. I'm certainly not going to see it in theaters based on the trailer.

That movie actually looks pretty interesting. What I think is really interesting is how it is an all-women cast. There is not too many movies around that circle around women being the desperate and awkward ones and that goes doubly for the Apatow movies. It looks pretty interesting and I bet that the premise is enough for a lot of people to go and see it. As it is though, I am thinking that this will be a rental DVD for me.

As you said, the big girl in it looks to be pretty funny but this just reeks or The Hangover with women. Now, that might not be a bad thing but there is definitely similarities there. Tell me someone else saw that? The big girl is basically Alan from The Hangover! Nevertheless, I think this will be exactly what it is meant to be, an hour and a half of poorly written comedy that will get people into seats at the cinema for a couple of laughs.

Not me though, Apatow. Not this time.

30 Minutes Or Less

Release Date: August 12, 2011

Warning! This is the uncensored trailer!!!!

After hiring an assassin to murder his father for his insurance money, meaty antagonist Dwayne and moronic partner in crime Travis kidnap a pizza delivery driver and force him to rob a bank with a bomb vest attached to his chest with a 9-hour timer in order to pay for the job to be done.

Danny McBride and Jesse Eisenberg are together! Sign me up!

Eisenberg has been on the rise for the past couple of years, and his performance in The Social Network helped boost his popularity. McBride can always be hilarious, and Aziz Ansari can have his funny moments. 30 Minutes Or Less should be a fun adventure, and I can't wait for this film to hit theaters.

CARS 2

Release Date: June 24, 2011

Star racecar Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) and the incomparable tow truck Mater (voice of Larry the Cable Guy) take their friendship to exciting new places in "Cars 2" when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world's fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own: international espionage. Torn between assisting Lightning McQueen in the high-profile race and towing the line in a top-secret spy mission, Mater’s action-packed journey leads him on an explosive chase through the streets of Japan and Europe, trailed by his friends and watched by the whole world. Adding to the fast-paced fun is a colorful new all-car cast that includes secret agents, menacing villains and international racing competitors.

I know people are going to see this and be like, really? I am a role model for a bunch of kids and I'm not going to lie when I say that they have sorta gotten me into animated movies. When the first one came out, I was assaulted with a bunch of children all talking about it and it was easy to say that they absolutely loved it. I ended up seeing it later on, and I really liked it. Owen Wilson does a great job of McQueen and it looks like they're bringing in some more firepower in terms of new characters. They're going to have to match the popularity of the first one which might be hard, but I'll be right there in the theater watching on June twenty fourth. Anyone else even remotely interested in the Cars franchise? Or am I alone here?

The Change-Up

Release Date: August 5, 2011

Red Band Trailer

A comedy in which a married guy switches bodies with his best friend in order to woo his co-worker.

This could be a fun and wacky comedy, but I'm not too crazy about the story here. Two guys piss in a fountain, they make a wish, and then they trade bodies? It just seems kind of corny to me. Ryan Reynolds can always play the cocky jerk character pretty well, and Jason Bateman's usual uptight workaholic persona does make laugh every now and then. Although, Bateman and Reynolds will be trading characters here, so they will have to switch personas. I hope both men can execute their different roles, and I hope they can do a good job, because Bateman and Reynolds will have to step outside of their comfort zones. This could be a solid film, and I am anxious to see it.

The Help

Release Date: August 12, 2011

Aibileen Clark (Viola Davis) is a middle-aged African-American maid who has spent her life raising white children and has recently lost her only son; Minny Jackson (Octavia Spencer) is an African-American maid who has often offended her employers despite her family's struggles with money and her desperate need for jobs; and Eugenia "Skeeter" Phelan (Emma Stone) is a young white woman who has recently moved back home after graduating from college to find out her childhood maid has mysteriously disappeared. These three stories intertwine to explain how life in Jackson, Mississippi revolves around "the help"; yet they are always kept at a certain distance because of racial lines.

Emma Stone usually does more cheery and upbeat films, but she's taking on a serious role here. The Help could be an emotional and uplifting film, but my expectations aren't that high for this one. I don't think this will be a bad film, but as far as the story goes, It's not hard to predict how this one will unfold. You will see a lot of racial tension in this film, and Emma Stone's character will be the driving force behind the group of people who "want to do the right thing." Still, I really want to see this film, because I like Emma Stone, and I am anxious to see her performance here.

On a side note, I noticed the trailer for "Our Idiot Brother" has been taken down. I was able to find another one, and here it his:

Something Borrowed

Release Date: May 6, 2011

Rachel White (Ginnifer Goodwin) is an unhappy, single, talented attorney working in a New York law firm. Rachel drinks too much on her 30th birthday and wakes up to find herself in bed with Dex (Colin Egglesfield), the man whom she has had a crush on since law school. The problem is that he is also her best friend Darcy's (Kate Hudson) fiance. Relationships are tested while a long-time trusted friend, Ethan (John Krasinski), stands by Rachel with a secret of his own.

Oh joy, another shitty manufactured chick flick to be fed to the masses. She loves this guy who is getting married to this guy and he might love her too but her father is a CIA Agent and the fiance is a bat shit crazy bitch. Oh what fun! /sarcasm

I don't know how this movie will be and while I'm sure that my girl will beg me to go, I won't be viewing this until it comes out on DVD. Even then it's still a maybe.

Grave Encounters
2011

So, yes. As I shopped around on Youtube this morning, I came across this little beauty. Truth be told, I was looking for the trailer to Insidious, which I was going to see earlier on. The trailer looked awesome and expect a full review within the next couple of hours. Still, the best find was this movie which has all the trademarks which give me the heebie-jeebies. Yes, it may have shaky-camera syndrome but this is the type of movie that really gets me excited. I watched it early in the morning with no lights on and the headphones in and almost dropped a deuce right there.

Honestly, this movie could go either way but I, for one, am hoping that it will be worth the wait. With no scheduled release date just yet, I am assuming it will be a Halloween release for this one.

Any thoughts?

Hmmm, this could be scary, because this trailer does look very creepy. Grave Encounters looks like an episode of Ghost Hunters that went horribly wrong, and I like how they're involving the crew here. They're going to be caught in the middle of a bizarre and dangerous situation, and this could add some extra suspense to the film. This could be a nice Halloween film, and I do plan on watching this.

I just had to post this one despite the fact it won't be in theatres for awhile because it's generating a lot of attention and because it's fucking Lars von Trier. This trailer has got me pretty excited. Besides the concept being really intriguing, I think the gorgeous cinematography is what did me in. The phenomenal line up of actors they've got on board doesn't hurt either. I cannot wait to see this.

Wow. You're right about the cinematography, Cookie. It does look gorgeous. Melancholia has a nice cast, and the story really does catch my attention. The world might end, and you can see how truly sad and depressed some of the characters are. Then again, there are some characters who are trying to be positive about the deadly situation. Melancholia is definitely on my must see list for 2011.

Another Earth

Release Date: July 22, 2011

Rhoda Williams (Marling), an astrophysics student at MIT, is driving when she sees a planet and leans out for a closer look. She hits a minivan and kills a family. She is imprisoned for four years, and upon release seeks out the widower of the family, composer John Burroughs (Mapother). The planet she saw is a mirror planet of Earth, and an essay contest is held where the winner can ride a space shuttle to visit it. Williams considers the possibility of visiting it to find out what kind of life her mirror self would have led.

I don't know about this one. Another Earth seems like it could be a nice drama/science fiction film, but I'm not too sure about the story here. The story does sound pretty emotional and gut wrenching, but this one could become VERY predictable and sappy as time goes on. Still, I'm curious about Another Earth, and I do want to see this film.

Transformers: Dark Of The Moon

Release Date: July 1, 2011

The Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft on the Moon and must race against the Decepticons to find it and learn its secrets, which could turn the tide in the Transformers' final battle.

This is the most recent trailer for Transformers: Dark Of The Moon

Wow. More explosions and flashy clusterfuck style fight scenes. Michael Bay looks like he might top everything he's everyone done for this film.

You know something, I'll defend the first Transformers film, because I did think it was a nice popcorn flick, and it did have it's entertaining moments, but Revenge Of The Fallen was one of the biggest pieces of shit I've ever seen. I really, really hated that film, and to tell you the truth, Transformers 2 has kind of killed my desire to watch this film. I will not be watching this one in 3D, but there is a chance I might go to theaters to see this. I'm still on the fence about watching Dark Moon in theaters, because I am not too exctied about this film.

Michael Bay has said this Transformers film will be more "mature" when it comes to the story, but as I watched this trailer, I didn't have that feeling. I just saw a shitload of explosions, and flashy fight scenes. You can check out the article here, if you want to read more of what Bay has to say about the new Transformers film: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1662082/transformers-dark-of-the-moon-michael-bay.jhtml

A lot of us probably hated Revenge Of The Fallen, and you probably thought about giving up on the Transformers franchise. But you can be sure this film WILL make a lot of money, and Dark Of The Moon will be a HUGE box office success. Oh, and if wondering who Shia LaBeouf's new love interest is...... it's Rosie Huntington-Whiteley! Never heard of her? Whitley is known as Victoria's Secret model, so of course she will be replacing Megan Fox as the eye candy in this film. I couldn't stop laughing as I watched this trailer, because Whitley NEVER SAYS ONE WORD!!! She just has this dumbfounded look on her face the entire time. I really don't care about Whitley replacing Fox, because Megan Fox is not a good actress. In fact, she can be horrible most of the times. Whitley will be something to drool over in Dark Of The Moon, but I have zero expectations for her acting ability.

Super 8

Release Date: June 10, 2011

In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth - something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.

Super 8 could be entertaining, and the story here does seem mysterious. Although, Super 8 looks like one of those films that will rely on "the shock of the big secret" at the end. If the secret is something truly shocking, then this film could be good, because your long wait will be rewarded with a tremendous payoff. On the other hand, this method could be a recipe for a huge failure. If the shock is underwhelming, then I'm sure plenty of people will be pissed. Still, I'm curious about Super 8, and I will be watching this film when it hits theaters.

Passion Play

Release Date: May 6, 2011(Limited Release)

Nate (Mickey Rourke), a small-time jazz musician, is clearly a hard-luck case. Stumbling into a circus pitched amidst the vast expanses of the southwest desert, Nate finds himself drawn to the exotic beauty of Lily (Megan Fox), the Bird Woman. Lily is cold and dismissive. But it dawns on her that this gentle giant may well be her way out of this life. Nate is protective and understanding, and to him her beauty makes her unique. As their bond deepens, Nate finds that his dreams are about to be thwarted by Happy Shannon (Bill Murray), a heartless businessman with deep pockets and an eye for the bizarre.

This film has already premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival, and the reviews for this one aren't good at all. In fact, the critics pretty much tore this one to shreds, and they showed no mercy. Still, this film will have a limited release on May 6, and it will begin in New York and Los Angeles.

As far as this film goes, I'm not too sure about it. I usually enjoy Bill Murray and Mickey Rourke, but Megan Fox can ALWAYS be a big problem for me. Fox is nice eye candy, but her acting is usually fucking terrible. The story here does sound bizarre, and Passion Play does look like an eccentric film. This could be a train wreck, or this could be something unique, because I don't think this film will have any middle ground.

One Day

Release Date: August 19, 2011

After spending the night together on the night of their college graduation Dexter and Em are revisited each year on the same date to see where they are in their lives. They are sometimes together, sometimes not, on that day.

Anne Hathaway has grown on me recently, so I do want to see this film. The story for One Day does seem kind of predictable. I wouldn't be surprised if Jim Sturgess delivered the "big speech" to win the girl back at the end of this film. Still, One Day should be worth watching, but I'm sure this love story will have it's cheesy moments.

Intruders

Release Date: October 7, 2011

This is just the teaser trailer, but this little bit of footage does look spooky. Although, Clive Owen's films usually don't excite me that much. I think the majority of his films are boring and dull, but Intruders could be a nice little horror flick. I'll be looking for this once Halloween season rolls around.

Conan The Barbarian

Release Date: August 19, 2011

After his father is murdered and village destroyed, Conan ventures into an unforgiving world where he survives as a thief, pirate, and warrior. On his path of wanton adventure and women, Conan chances upon the warlord responsible for his tribe’s destruction. As he tracks Khalar Zym, Conan battles monsters, Zym's henchmen, and Marique, a powerful witch.

It's been a long time since I've seen the 1982 version of Conan starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, but I'll have to watch it again before I see this film.

The 2011 version of Conan The Barbarian will be in 3D, and this film should make a nice little splash at the box office. I don't expect too much from this one. There should be some nice action scenes here, and the special effects do look solid. Again, I'm not overly excited to see this film, but Conan should deliver, and I hope this one can be entertaining.

Colombiana

Release Date: September 2, 2011

Zoe Saldana will play a young woman who, after witnessing her parents’ murder as a child in Bogota, grows up to be a stone-cold assassin. She works for her uncle as a hitman by day, but her personal time is spent engaging in vigilante murders that she hopes will lead her to her ultimate target: the mobster responsible for her parents' death.

Zoe Saldana is a favorite of mine. She's absolutely gorgeous, and I do think she's a damn solid actress. Although, the story here doesn't excite me too much. It's been done to death so many times...."you killed my parents! Now my only goal in life is hunting you for revenge!" This type of story can be so painfully predictable. I'm sure Saldana's character will get her revenge, but I still hope this film will be entertaining. Colombiana could be a solid thriller, or this one could be a real disappointment.

Final Destination 5

Release Date: August 12, 2011

Twelve years after the explosion of Flight 180, Sam Lawton (Nicholas D'Agosto) has a premonition about the bridge he is on collapsing, killing him and many around him. As the vision becomes reality, Sam manages to save himself and a few others. However, Sam and his girlfriend Molly Harper (Emma Bell), discover that Death is still after them and the ones who survived the gruesome accident.

Meh. I can't say I care about the Final Destination film series anymore. I thought The Final Destination was shit. I only enjoyed the cool 3D effects in that film. Seeing people die in gruesome and creative ways can become tiresome after a while, and the story ALWAYS follows the same pattern. Still, I think I'll give this one a chance. I've seen every film in The Final Destination series, so giving this one a try shouldn't hurt too bad.

The Skin I Live In

Based on Thierry Jonquet's novel Tarantula, The Skin I Live In tells the story of a surgeon who tries to save the life of his wife by creating a new skin. Almodóvar describes the film as "a horror story without screams or frights"

This film will be premiering at the Cannes Film Festival. The Skin I Live In has a release date of August 26 for the UK, and as far as the US goes, this film should hit theaters in November.

This short teaser trailer does look kind of weird, but I definitely want to see more. The story does sound unique, and this is one those films that could surprise you. I hope they release the full trailer soon, because I really want to see more.

Horrible Bosses

Release Date: July 8, 2011

Three friends (Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis) conspire to murder their awful bosses (Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell, and Kevin Spacey) when they realize they are standing in the way of their happiness.

I'm actually looking forward to this. Horrible Bosses has a nice cast, and the story here does sound hilarious. Also, this story should help draw a good amount of people to theaters, because I'm sure everyone has had to deal with a dreadful boss, so in a way, people should be able to relate to this story.

What's Your Number?

September 30, 2011

Ally Darling (Anna Faris) looks back at the past twenty men that she has had relationships with in her life and wonders if one of them might be her true love.

Anna Faris usually has a clumsy and ditzy character. She's always the clueless hot blonde, but it seems as if her character is going to be a little bit different here. Although, the story here doesn't excite me too much. I think this is going to be another generic and shitty romantic comedy. I'm sure this one will be filled with cheesy moments, and I wouldn't be surprised if Ana Faris and Chris Evans fell in love at the end of this one...ugh...

The trailer I posted for 30 Minutes Or Less has been taken down, but I found another one:

Troll Hunter

Release Date: June 10, 2011

A group of students investigate a series of mysterious bear killings, but learns that there are much more dangerous things going on. They start to follow a mysterious hunter, learning that he is actually a troll hunter.

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

WOW. I couldn't stop laughing as I watched this trailer over and over again. The production values look terrible here, and as far as the Trolls go....well, they just look completely ridiculous. Oh, and if you're wondering, this is NOT one those films that you aren't suppose to take seriously. This could be a fun monster flick, but the trailer just makes me laugh too hard.

Life In A Day

Release Date: July 24, 2011

A documentary shot by filmmakers all over the world that serves as a time capsule to show future generations what it was like to be alive on the 24th of July, 2010.

This seems like one of those movies that will help people appreciate the art of film making, and I am looking forward to this. Life In A Day could be a very heart warming film, and this could be one of the better documentaries this year.

http://www.thewrap.com/movies/article/transformers-dark-moon-release-date-moved-june-27592

I guess Paramount is real anxious for this one to hit theaters. The change of the release date shouldn't affect this film at all. Dark Of The Moon will still make a ton of money (the 3D releases should help boost profits), and people will flock to see this one. A lot of people (myself included) trashed Revenge Of The Fallen to no end, but like it or not, this franchise is VERY popular, and it does have a large fan base.

Shark Night 3D

Release Date: September 2, 2011

The story revolves around seven male and female college friends who spend a weekend at a lake house in Louisiana’s Gulf area. When their vacation quickly becomes a nightmare of hellish shark attacks, unheard of in freshwater lakes, they soon discover that the sharks are part of a sick, greedy plan on the part of several locals.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for these type of films. The story will be mediocre, there's a good chance the acting will suck, and it looks like there's going to be a good amount of nudity and sex in this one, but I can't wait for this one to hit theaters. Shark Night 3D should be a a bloody and gory adventure, and I hope this one can feature some good spook moments. Shark Night 3D could be a huge piece of garbage, but I will watch this film, because I don't have enough will power to resist this one.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

Release Date: December 21, 2011

A discredited journalist (Daniel Craig) and a mysterious computer hacker discover that even the wealthiest families have skeletons in their closets while working to solve the mystery of a 40-year-old murder in this David Fincher-directed remake of the 2009 Swedish thriller of the same name. Inspired by late author Stieg Larsson's successful trilogy of books, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo gets under way as the two leads (Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara) are briefed in the disappearance of Harriet Vanger, whose uncle suspects she may have been killed by a member of their own family. The deeper they dig for the truth, however, the greater the risk of being buried alive by members of the family, who will go to great lengths to keep their secrets tightly sealed.

I've never seen the original Swedish version of this film, but I'll have to watch it before I see this version.

Fincher is one of my favorite directors, and I wouldn't be surprised if he receives an Oscar nomination for this one. This film will hit theaters during Oscar season, and Fincher is one of the more notable directors, so he has to receive some attention for this one.

I haven't read the book that this film is based on, and I haven't seen the original, so I know don't know too much about The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Still, I can't wait for this film. This film should be dark, and the story sounds very bizarre and twisted. I'm kind of skeptical about Daniel Craig as the lead man. There were rumors of Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt showing interest in the role a while back, and I would've loved to see either man headline this film, but I hope Craig can pull this one off. Were in for a long wait with this one. December 21 is marked on my calendar, because I can't wait to see this movie.

Fright Night

Release Date: August 19, 2011

Teenager Charley Brewster (Yelchin) guesses that his new neighbor Jerry Dandrige (Farrell) is a vampire responsible for a string of recent deaths. When no one he knows believes him, he enlists Peter Vincent (Tennant), the opportunistic host of his favorite TV show, to help him take down Jerry and his guardian.

Why the fuck would they release this in 3D??? I know I haven't seen the entire film yet, but it doesn't look like this film was shot for a 3D release. The studios are really starting to go overboard with this 3D stuff.

Anyway, this could be a solid remake. I think Colin Farrell is one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood, and he does look good in the trailer, so I hope he can deliver as the charismatic and murderous vampire. Fright Night 2011 might have a generic Hollywood feel, and I really don't understand the 3D here, but I'll give this a chance. Although, I will have to watch the original first, because Fright Night (1985) is one of those films that has received tons of praise.

Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark

Release Date: August 26, 2011

A young girl sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend discovers creatures in her new home who want to claim her as one of their own.

Wow. I didn't know Katie Holmes was still alive......

This could be a good ghost story, and this trailer does have it's creepy moments. Guillermo del Toro directed my favorite Blade film, so I always try to watch anything he's involved in. I haven't seen the original version yet, but Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark 2011 looks like it could a nice remake.

The Guard

Release Date: July 29, 2011

An unorthodox Irish policeman with a confrontational personality is teamed up with an uptight FBI agent to investigate an international drug-smuggling ring.

This could be worth watching. The Guard seems like it could be a decent film. Don Cheadle and Brendan Gleeson will be the odd couple who try to bring down a drug-smuggling ring, and I'm sure this story will have it's whacky moments. Don Cheadle usually involves himself in watchable in films. All of his films aren't that great, and some of them are overrated (Traffic and Crash), but I can't remember too many stinkers with Cheadle, so The Guard shouldn't be terrible.

Moneyball

Release Date: September 23, 2011

The story of Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane's successful attempt to put together a baseball club on a budget by employing computer-generated analysis to draft his players.

I'm sure sports fans will take a chance on this one, and Brad Pitt will surely draw some nice size crowds to theaters, so this film should be a success at the box office. Although, Jonah Hill seems out of place in this film. He doesn't seem to fit in, when I look at this trailer. I always think of him as a comedy guy, but this film has a serious tone. There's a chance he could pull this off, but he just looks so awkward here.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Release Date: December 16, 2011

When a terrorist bombing destroys the Kremlin, the United States government activates "Ghost Protocol" and disavows the entire Impossible Mission Force. Ethan Hunt and his team are blamed for the attack, but are allowed to escape as part of a plan to enable them to operate outside their agency. Hunt is warned that if any member of his team is captured or compromised, they will be charged as terrorists planning a nuclear strike. He is forced to work with fellow IMF agent Brandt, who knows much more about Hunt and his past than Hunt himself.

I always enjoyed the first Mission Impossible film, MI: II is my favorite film in the entire series, and I thought MI: III was solid enough. It wasn't a bad film at all. I just HATED the way they used Phillip Seymour Hoffman. He could've been such a great villain, but they didn't showcase him enough.

Anyway, MI: 4 looks like it could be a fun film. The story doesn't excite me too much, but the cast does look good here. Tom Cruise is still capable of delivering a good performance, Paula Patton is a solid actress, and Jeremy Renner is a rising star in Hollywood. He has a bright future, and he should win some Oscar gold one day. This film should provide some thrilling action scenes, and there could be a big twist here (the stuff between Renner and Cruise). Also, I'm glad this one isn't being released in 3D. I can deal with the IMAX, but the 3D stuff is really becoming ridiculous nowadays.

Immortals

Release Date: November 11, 2011

Years after the Titanomachy, the Titan Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) declares war on humanity. He searches for the Epirus Bow, a legendary weapon created by the war god Ares, which will allow him to free the rest of the Titans from Tartarus and take revenge on the Olympians who brought about their downfall. In accordance with ancient laws, the gods are unable to take a side in the war between Hyperion and humanity. It is left to a peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill), chosen by Zeus (Luke Evans) and accompanied by the priestess Phaedra (Freida Pinto) and a slave (Stephen Dorff), to protect his homeland and save the gods

Immortals should be worth watching. This film should be filled with some great battle scenes, and the special effects look awesome. Mickey Rourke has been a streaky slide since The Wrestler. He was a good villain in Iron Man 2, but his other films haven't been that good. Although, there's a good chance he could bounce back with this one.

Apollo 18

Release Date: September 2, 2011

Apollo 18 is a found footage-style film set in December 1974, about a post-Apollo 17 mission to the Moon that takes on a premise of why NASA discontinued the Apollo moon missions. The plot involves a government coverup of the Apollo 18 mission after parasitic lifeforms on the Moon discovered the crew and began to attack them. Much of the back-story remains unknown; however, the movie posters in English indicate the Russian KGB role in Soviet lunar conspiracy and the Russian movie posters show inscriptions in English suggesting an American government cover up in lunar conspiracy. In the trailer, an American astronaut finds a dead cosmonaut and a Soviet LK Lander on the lunar surface.

This is the most recent for trailer for Apollo 18.

FINALLY! It seems as if Apollo 18 has a release date that won't change...again. I was hoping to see this film earlier this year, but I don't mind the wait. Apollo 18 could be a chilling horror flick with some nice spook moments. This trailer is mysterious and creepy, and they do show a little bit more footage here. I hope this one won't be a disappointment, because I have high hopes for Apollo 18.
