Colin Delaney receiving a push?

Chokeslam_531

Dark Match Winner
Okay, I know you've seen him job for the past three weeks to Shelton Benjamin, Big Daddy V and then to Mark Henry. When they used him the first time, it could have been a one time thing, but then they brought him again and both times mentioned what happened on the previous weeks....which brings me to the conclusion THAT...he is going to win a match soon, probably qualify for the Royal Rumble but gets tossed early. Now, I have some respect for the guy...he's just a kid, he wants to be a WWE superstar....does he deserve a push? I want to hear what you guys have to say...

My guess is that they are redoing the "1-2-3 kid" story. For those that remember it, xpac was the 123 kid before he became xpac, and it was the beginning of his career. He was some young kid that always lost, then did a major surprise upset against razor ramon. Then there was a rematch and the kid won again, setting up an angle where the million dollar man got involved and ramon turned into a good guy.

Anyhow, they probably won't copy the entire angle, but I do think they are setting colin up for a major upset, similar to the 123 kid. He even looks exactly like how the 123 kid looked in the beginning of his career.

Eh, Kane is kind of face now, so I doubt they will make him fight Delaney...in fact, the way WWE is treating him, Kane will be Delaney's first victory...with a roll-up after a mule kick or something...:(

I second what mcflyboy wrote. The 'Colin Delaney' gimmick seems like a throwback to the 1-2-3 kid storyline.

I say that WWE might as well give this 'kid' a push. ECW doesn't have really much else going on besides Punk v. Chavo, Miz/Morrison v. Moore/Yang, and Layla v. Kelly Kelly week after week. At least this storyline is fresh and entertaining so far. I'm curious to see who he upsets.

If done properly, this storyline could work out well for the brand and Colin. For some reason though, I just can't shake this mental picture of him coming out week after week with more 'injuries' and taped up body parts just like TNA's Sharkboy.

This storyline is ******ed. I have no interest watchin some 150 pound pussy come out and get his ass whooped every week. He cannot believably beat anybody on the roster (except for maybe Hornswoggle, but even that's pushing it). If this little bitch, who has less muscle on his body than my 10 year old sister, even comes close to beating a guy like Kane, then that's the gayest thing I've ever heard. And for all you 1-2-3 Kid lovers who are going to get on here and say "Ohhh the WWE's gonna make him just like he was back in the day", then save it. If you haven't noticed, this is 2008, not 1993. Come up with some new material, PLEASE. I'm tired of all the damn recycled storylines. For God sakes at least whole Zach Gowen (another skinny shit who I can't buy beating anybody) thing was cool because he only had one leg.

I doubt they'll use Delaney in the Royal Rumble since they already have Hornswoggle and Foley in for comic relief. Still, idk what they're planning on doing for this guy. He's clearly not built enough to be a worthwhile wrestler as he's not even as big as Cody Rhodes. Plus, he needs to shave off those mutton chops lol. Who knows, maybe this kid just has connections and this was his idea for an angle to fill up time.

No, he wont beat him, I was just trying to incorporate the whole Kane as a jobber status wrestler thing into this whole thing...but I went a bit far. I think Colin Delaney is receiving a push, but not that big, not even close to that. But yeah, I know, he doesn't deserve a push, I mean, look at the guy....I could take him, seriously....

I think with what WWE are doing with Colin is sort of copying the Tommy Dreamer thing back in ECW when he was trying to get over as a face. No one liked him, just like no likes Collin, he always lost week in and week out just like Collin. I think they will take Collin and get him to ask for more matches against huge guys and eventually he'll will and he be over.

Who is this Collin guy anyway and where did he come from?

I remember this gimmick back in the 80's. I'm sure everyone remebers the Lighting Kid who became 1 2 3 Kid who became Syxx and then X Pac. Yeah compare them. Skinny, scrawney...oh and they both suck. WWE should do him a favor...push him down to OVW or FCW and learn to wrestle before he gets hurt. Did I mention X Pac sucks???

I believe he wrestled in this Indy wrestling promotion called CHIKARA or something like that....not that I watch it, of course...anyway, X-Pac does suck, and hopefully this is not some coincidental twist of fate (ha, get it?), but X-Pac feuded with Kane a LOT, and he managed to beat him a few times by being a little hoe...like in that Falls Count Anywhere thing in 2002...

C.D. Sounds more like Mikey Whipwreck kinda angle where he lost every week in ECW and then someone who was going by the name of Cactus Jack at the time took him on as his Tag parter and they won the ECW Tag Title with Mikey being in to get beat up in the tag match and Cactus coming in and Mikey getting the pinfall... Judging by how most of you don't know that part of history of ECW maybe this is a good rehash of it...

Personally, I am unfamilure with the Mikey Whipwreck story, but from what ive heard, I think it would be a cool idea, for some badass to take colin delaney under his wing (Kane?) for a tag title run....I wonder if the guy has forgotten all his offensive moves...at least we know he sells pretty well...

I do think Colin Delaney is receiving a push, in some weird way. yes they make him lose to every single monster they have onthe roster, but he is getting T.V time, which is more than some of the veteran and good up and comers get. I also think he will be involved in a 1-2-3 kid type storyline, where he loses for weeks and weeks then beats someone like Kane. Yes it's a crappy storyline but it could work.

did you all watch this weeks episode of ECW? man Colin may have just had to sit there like a sack of Potatoes , he looked scared of Kahli , I know I would if I had to go in there as I am the appoximately the size of Rey .... haha anyways even though I knew it was gonna be a beat down do you think Colin had sold the chop the best or was it a legit knock out? I know Police were shown tactics to pop someone on the head in a certain spot and they crumble pretty much like C.D. Did but still he looked like he didn't wanna be actually choked in the double choke slam.. altough I don't normally like Squash matches I am starting to care about this guy I see him losing so much and never doing an offencive move and maybe (insert wrestlers name here ) can come and tag up with him and make him the Tag team champ over Miz and Morrison and never do a single move offensively untill like Wrestlemania where he is an opening act and does one offensive move , which of course will have little affect on his opponet, and they either win or lose it won't matter... in any case he is more entertaining than watching Hornswaggle take up time on Monday Night Raw. Straight to the point 1 min matches and it's all over lol.

Colin Delaney is actually a pretty decent wrestler. He goes by the ring name Colin Olsen, and is part of a tag team called the Olsen Twins. I've seen him live at a UWA Hardcore show in Mississauga, Ontario

I hope that they do something with this angle soon. I enjoy it and it has potential, but now it's just getting repetitive and boring.

Maybe wwe isn't sure yet what to do, if it will be a repeat 123 kid type story, or something else. Or maybe they aren't sure who to have colin finally defeat in an upset. It will have to be a talented heel...someone who a win over would mean something, but unlikely to be a high card wrestler because they don't want the person to lose status.

I'll admit that the original 123 kid storyline, razor ramon was a perfect person for the 123 kid to defeat. he was talented, midcard level at the time, and they were able to turn the story around and let ramon become one of the most popular face characters for a long time.

If they do something similar, i'm not really sure who would be a good pick, in either ecw or smackdown. The only one I can really think of this gimmick working for, at least off the top of my head, is elijah burke. he's talented, perhaps not quite midcard level, but certainly deserves a push. and I could see him being a good face character if the push is done correctly.

again, this is all speculation, and wwe might not be repeating the 123 kid story so it may not matter.

I was hoping yesterday that they would throw Colin Delany into the Royal Rumble they could have made Santino the Straight man and Colin the Comedy part of the Match... but with Colin without a contract I see why they went this direction .

THis was one of the best anglesin the original ECW. I felt sorry for Mikey when he was always getting beat up. If they do something like this with C.D. it would probably get more people to watch ECW, but knowing WWE they will justs screw it up like they do with everything involvong ECW so i'm not holding my breath for anything spectacular.

I actually like this angle that ECW is doing, i find it really funny actually seeing him get slaughtered every week... by unknown opponents, as soon as theyre music hits you think to yourself 'Oh my god', not sure how many monsters there are left for him though..... his first upset win however, well it takes no rocket scientist to realise itll be undertaker... Edge interferes screwing Taker out of the match leading upto Mania.. bringing credibility back to himself undertaker then effs delaney up

Well if you all watched ECW tonight you had seen Tommy Dreamer the only one left of the Original ECW come out and save Colin from a beat down ... LMAO if you can call it a beat down after what Khali, Mark Henry, Shelton and Kane did to him. Anyways it looks as if they might just do this and have Miz and Morrison go against Dreamer and Delany with Delany getting no offence in his matches only to get a hot tag to Dreamer to come in and clean house... if they continue this route it was one of the best things I had seen in the Orignial ECW. Fact is I like how Colin can take a beating with his size it looks so much more devistating I know some parts have to hurt for real but every move seems to nearly kill him ... love it!! WWE SIGN COLIN DELANY!!!!!!!!!

It is has been exactly three months since Colin Delaney debuted on EWC (12/18/2007). Although he’s still winless, he’s no longer the curtain-jerker. He’s found an ally and mentor in Dreamer, and last week the two teamed up against Miz and Morrison for the Tag Team Championship. Last night he was in the main event with the ECW champion Chavo Guerrero, and the crowd even got a little ‘Colin’ chant going. Clearly someone in the back sees something special and likes the guy because Colin Delaney made it onto Raw this week!!! (albeit he was squashed by JBL). Granted on the show he is still pursuing a contract, in real life he signed a 3 year deal with WWE in late February so I don’t think he is going away anytime soon.

For these reasons, it’s clear he is receiving a push. At first, I was very skeptical of this storyline and not looking forward to seeing Colin squashed every week. However, the storyline has gotten better and the slow build of Delaney’s character has been good. Other than the squashes, his matches with Dreamer and against Chavo in which he has managed a little offense have been entertaining.

I can’t help but wonder if Colin will land a spot in the 24 man battle royal at 'Mania. Anyone else think that could happen?

i'm pretty sure colin's won a match now rite? wasn't a tag match with dreamer? neways i'm rdy 4 this guys push. he seems pretty talented considering his tag title match. i'm also rdy 4 this guy 2 git an entrance theme and the ecw contract.

They will need him in the 24 man battle royal, they need to fill those spaces and he's definitely eligible seeing as he's far more popular than most other available choices.

Watched a match of his in UWA wrestling, were he was in a tag team called the olsen twins and he wrestled under the name colin olsen. Although his purpose for now is that of a skinny guy who gets beat up and focus is on the mic (something which I think he has unknown skill on) he seems technically sound and has a decent typical high flying ability of which you find in most indy promotions, as demonstrated the other week when he leaped over the ropes and when he attempted a tornado bulldog on John Morrison (unfortunately reversed)

I have to say, I loved the look on his face when he was whacking Miz and Morrison with a steel chair a few weeks ago.:)

I'm almost convinced the creative team for W.W.E. and most importantly the E.C.W. brand just sit in a row and toss darts at pictures. Or draw names out of hats. Seriously.

You have talent the likes of John Morrison, C.M. Punk, Elijah Burke, Shelton Benjamin. You have up and comers like The Miz, and Kofi Kingston. You have vets like Chavo Guerrero, and then the original in Tommy Dreamer.

So, who do they decide to push? The skinny kid who looks like he'll die on impact from one more stiff shot.

I have nothing against Colin Delaney, seriously I like it because sadly I'm probably about his size. It makes me feel good to think I'm actually a bit bigger built to be honest. But the sad fact is, "I" know "I'LL" never (likely) be a Professional Wrestler for the W.W.E. that could do anything more than be squashed on Friday Night's by the Big Show. So with that said, what does Colin bring to the table? Absolutely nothing.

Why is he being pushed? For what purpose does this serve? For what reason is it being thought after? Is it punishment for all the actual talented Superstars like Benjamin, Burke and Morrison? I'd assume so. This push is saddening. And the truly horrible part is, I can't wait to see who he actually defeats to win this contract.

I vote the Undertaker.. seriously. He needs to go over someone who'd honestly kill him in real life, its the only way to make people understand how completely out of their f*cking minds they truly are.

Colin Delaney seems to fit better in a cruiserweight type match because I have seen a few signs of promise like a dropkick or a dive over the top rope. Colin will win eventually, maybe to Funaki.
