Cody Over Ted

ForzaItalia

Layeth The Smackdown!
Why in Blue Hell would WWE Creaive Team give Ted a push over Cody. The guy can not wrestle at all, I find myself changing the channel every time he comes on, and he is only in the WWE because of his father. IMO Cody has more wrestling talent, he could used as a great mid card talent or even a main event talent in the future because Vince wants to push the smaller guys. I feel Cody puts on greater promos than Ted too. Virgil is carrying Ted 4 the record. I think Cody has more to offer than Ted who just carries a retired championship that is not even his and builds his character off his father. On the other hand, Cody is known as the uncommon son of the common man, so build off of this and lets learn more about the uncommon son. Your thoughts?

Ted DiBiase can wrestle just fine, I have found him to put on pretty decent matches with R-Truth and some of the other talent he has faced during some of his RAW matches.

Ted DiBiase also is one of the easier people to put a gimmick on due to him being the million dollar son, he has some pretty good microphone skills, and to me just comes off as the better heel.

I do think that Cody deserves a push as well, but he is doing something, supposedly there's been thoughts of him being paired with the Straight Edge Society, which is definitely not a bad thing for Cody in terms of getting some heat and getting over as a heel.

I also think that Cody Rhodes might not be as matured in the business as Ted is, Ted comes off as more secure and clean in the business than Cody does, Cody puts on good matches, but he's not as good on the microphone as Ted is for example.

I would admit that I would rather see Ted DiBiase getting pushed over Cody, but ultimately I do not mind who gets the push over the other, as long as they both get some kind of push.

When they moved Cody to Smackdown, right off the bat he had two incredible television matches. The first was with John Morrison and the second was with Christian. Ever since these two matches, he has only been seen on NXT. I dunno who he pissed off, but he absolutely needs to be used on SD more often. He's a very gifted wrestler. I really didn't care for him much with Legacy, but those two matches by themselves won me over big on him. DiBiase seems to be stuck. Everyone thought he was gonna be the one to emerge as a top singles star, but I'm thinking Cody has more potential. Maybe Ted was actually holding Cody back in Legacy. Ted has never stood out in the ring, and it seems like he's been watching the "How To Speak on the Mic" by Randy Orton video. Something's gotta change with him.

Yes, Cody Rhodes over Ted Dibiase. I think it's fair to say that since Legacy broke up, neither has went on to great things, Cody has definitely got lost in the shuffle as he struggles to appear on Smackdown and Ted loses every week in segments which seem to garner little reaction/interest. Neither has set the WWE on fire as many thought they would following Legacy disbanding, unfortunately.

With that being said, I have always been of the opinion that Rhodes is a better all round wrestler, especially when it comes to actual wrestling and I think his first two performances on Smackdown were better matches than anything Ted has produced since going solo. As for cutting promos, Ted has certainly been given more opportunities as of late and he isn't bad at all and Cody cut his first TV promo in a long time last week on NXT and I think he did it competently.

Nevertheless, with speculation that Rhodes may join the SES, that could be the big break that he needs to pick up some much needed momentum, either that or he gets a push as the 'Uncommon Man' which I feel could really make him a star. Occasionally appearing on NXT and Supertars is not going to get Cody over properly in the long run...

Cody is definantly the better wrestler... I don't think many will debate on this.

The thing is the WWE has been wanting to give Ted that big push since the release of the Marine II. They even wanted him to go over on Orton at Mania until Orton got so over causing Ted to continue to be a heel and Orton to become a tweener.

I really don't think we should compare the two. It's to early to see where things are going to head. If you remember, when Miz and Morrison first split up people all thought Morrison was going to leave Miz eating his dust. If anything the Miz has proved us all wrong on a week to week basis and is the most improved wrestler all around today.

So give it at least a year on their own and we'll see what the WWE is doing with them. With Rumors of Cody maybe going to the SES or continuing the uncommon gimmick, I think he'll get over.

First of all, Vince is known for NOT pushing the smaller guys (with the exceptions for Mysterio and Bourne, for their respective reasons). Also, I really don't think the Ted is as bad of a wrestler/entertainer as you're making him out to be. Ted is still learning and he has some charisma that he will eventually be able to develop off of. Cody does have a lot of talent, but did anybody honestly think that creative would be able to do a whole lot with is gimmick which at the time, was nothing but Oton's lackey? Ted obviously seemed to be the one that would go farther after the Legacy break-up, so why shouldn't WWE be consistent with his push? I'm happy for Cody and he's definitely starting to grow on me, but I also think that Ted does have in-ring ability and is still trying to find himself in the business.

Wow, check out the continued Ted Dibiase hate threads. ok i get it, he's got the randy orton unrealized potential going on. I mean we've been expecting Ted to be something special for a couple years now and he really has failed to capture that proverbial "lightning in a bottle" that Good Ol' JR refers to in his blogs, but to say that Teddy is a bad wrestler and can't promo is pretty absurd. Also Virgil is carrying him? really? come on. Virgil brings up some great nostalgia, but its not like nostalgia makes the show. And to say Cody is so much better than Teddy is pretty silly too, considering that Cody isn't doing a whole bunch on SD, aside from some decent matches, he isn't getting a real push the same way Teddy is. I like both guys, i don't see why it has to be one over the other.

I couldn't agree more. I don't know why all these people jumped on the "Ted Dibiase is gonna be a break out star-next champion" bandwagon. The guy has no charisma, he's a descent wrestler but doesn't stand out against any of the other wrestlers of his calibre, looks plain, and hasn't done anything besides be Randy Orton's lacky. They should have waited to give them the tag belts after they joined Legacy. They could have gotten more over and more heat that way, but that's bookings fault, no theirs. I personally don't like having him use the million dollar belt and his Dad's gimmick. To me that shows they have no faith in giving him his own character/gimmick. He isn't his father, they should build him as his own persona, and Virgil is overkill. Cody is the better in my opinion. He looks like more of a guy u would want to hate and is more athletic. I'd rather see Cody get the push.

In my opinion, Cody is just too small (skinny) to get a big time push without being a high-flyer. Ted may not be the more technically sound of the two but he has the size to be a main eventer, albiet barely.

This is kind of a shame because Rhodes reminds me of some of the greatest in-ring storytellers of all time with the way he sells and acts during his matches. If he could just bulk up some, preferably without steroids, he could be a good one.

Enough with the "He doesn't have the size" crap.

Can't you see that they have planted that in your mind, thinking that World Champs have to be 6'8'' and weigh over 300 lbs.
They don't!
In fact, those are the worst Champions, and usually the worst wrestling performers.

If someone is good, they should get the Respect they deserve.
Bulking up is the reason so many Wrestlers die young.
Steroid use is the easiest and fastest way to Get Muscular and earn the 'Respect' of people.

Stupid Concept in my Opinion.
Cut 15 years of your life just to try and Please Management...

I've been thinking of this as well. While Teddy is serviceable in the ring, Cody is undoubtedly a better worker. When he first got drafted to Smackdown! he put on the match of the night 2 weeks straight imo. Unfortunately he was demoted to Superstars (winning all his matches at least) while Teddy was given his daddy's gimmick and is running with it.

Now that doesn't mean I don't like Teddy's push, quite the contrary actually, I'm loving it! And especially with Maryse as his new 'Virgil' I see him going very far. I just wish that Cody would get a push of similar proportion since he is the more deserving of the two.

I think splitting Legacy was the worst thing possible for Cody and Ted. Getting rid of Orton would have been a good idea, seeing as how he has become a face. But I think Legacy was a good tag team. Cody had the mic skills that Ted didn't have, and Ted had the physique and look that Cody didn't have. They complimented each other nicely, and could easily have been the next Edge and Christian.

Do I believe Ted deserves a bigger push than Cody? No. Do I believe Cody deserves a bigger push than Ted? No. What they need to do is reunite them as a tag team, WHILE still pushing them as tag partners. They could help each other to the top.

I've thought for a long time that they needed to do an overhaul on Cody Rhodes, change his look and his gimmick, and send him off as the next big heel. I've never been so fond of Ted Jr. though. To me he just seems like The Half-Million Dollar Kid/Randy Orton Lite. I'm not saying he isn't good on the mic, he is acceptable. I'm not saying he is bad in the ring, he is also acceptable there. I just don't care for the character development with him thus far, but I am at least smart enough to know that's not all his fault. I just sit by waiting to see this guy impress me with something but nothing comes up. I agree with some of you that it shouldn't be one over the other though, both of these guys should be a big deal and I'm sure at some point they will be. The WWE might just make them wait a while, but we know that the WWE generally rewards that patience handsomely so I figure it's just that, a matter of time.

I like them both but I still feel that wwe broke them up too early. Cody is a much better wrestler its not even close. He had two really good matches against Christian and Morrison on smackdown. I dont know why they kind of demoted him. Ted gets a lot of air time on raw but even him doing his fathers gimmick hasn't really got him over. I think Cody still gets booed more. He kind of has that arrogant look about him.

I hate Ted DiBiase. I really do. How does a guy who has his Hall of Fame father as a trainer, and as a guideline for his gimmick make it work so bad? I don't get this! Ted DiBiase Sr. looked great buying crap and taunting people with a large wad of cash. Ted BiDiase Jr. looks like a goofy bully with stolen lunch money. And they both work the same gimmick. Why does he get a push over guy who showed promise thee moment he started working on the main shows? He was great in 2007 when he first feuded with Randy Orton. He was decent as a team with Hardcore Holly. It's not like they had much to work with. Then came The Legacy. While Teddy was out filming The Marine 2, Cody was in charge and he was the one who prompted for Orton to join. He glued the team together. He can work a good match. So can Ted, but Cody has more experience, more ability and a gimmick he can actually work. I really fail to see what anybody sees in Ted DiBiase.

Ive read that when Ted and Cody were tagging that Vince actually told Cody that he thought he was holding Ted back(June 2010 issue of wwe mag). So I believe that Cody will always be held back because Vince already has a very strong opinion of both Ted(good) Cody(bad). IMO I would like to see both pushed and while I agree you dont have to be "BIG" to be succesful in WWE it certainly does make it more believable.
