Coco's Take: Storm vs Roode is the Greatest Tag Team Break-Up Feud of All Time

Coco

Mid-Card Championship Winner
It's exceeded everyone's expectations in every way. Before Bound For Glory, people had so little faith in TNA's ability to follow through with a push for home-grown talent that they'd have settled for Bobby Roode as a FACE champion. Instead, TNA's upped the ante by making both men credible main event stars with simultaneous pushes where one dominated the title scene and the other bested Kurt Angle, culminating in a cage match to settle the score that's been held off for the perfect amount of time. And they did this all with midcarders who only appeared to be big fish in the tag division, rewriting the book on how to push wrestlers to the main event. People bitched about Russoriffic swerves back in October/November while only myself and a handful of perceived TNA die-hards stood by the decisions being made, but now it's clear that the naysayers couldn't have been more wrong. It's a master-work. It's a game-changer. I hope you all appreciate how great this has been.

Has there ever been a better tag team break-up feud?

No. But I'll bet entering this thread most people were thinking, "Michaels vs. Janetty" before realising it wasn't for a World Heavyweight Championship, Janetty never accomplished anything decent as IC Champion and their feud asides from one match was shit.

If you consider Hogan and Savage a legitimate tag team, yes, it was better. If not, then.... no. I don't think I can remember one being better, actually. Shawn and Marty wasn't as significant as people make it out to be.

-I was a detractor. Well, sort of. Honestly, I can't remember. However, it has worked really, really well.

-Also, I was born in 1984, so anything that happened prior to that means nothing to me. Bad choice of words - it could mean something, but I wasn't around, so I shouldn't comment.

If we're talking about their WWF run and feud, I consider them about as legitimate as Hogan and Michaels. Not knocking the Macho-Hogan feud though. That was delightful.

I still like this one more than I should:

I haven't watched TNA's product in quite some time now but this feud is single handedly bringing back my interest for the company so that should say something. Their Lockdown match should be something special

Its nice to see a Tag Team feud with a legit Tag Team that was together for 3 years. Recently in wrestling two random people team up (For example) in January and feud by September and no really cares. Should be an awesome match as well.

I think its the best feud in TNA history

I'd be tempted to say that this Roode WHC run has been the best in the history of the title. I would never have predicted I would be saying that. What is amazing about this feud is that it exceeded everyone's expectations, even those that thought it would be quite good.

Storm and Roode are set to be the one team where both members went on to have legitimate success.

Sure you can argue Edge and Christian both had legitimate success but not really at the same time.

Well judging from a few threads I've read recently, how good something is now directly correlates to how many people watch it. Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy can't possibly have as good a match as Taker/HHH because it'll happen in front of a smaller audience, and by the same logic, Storm and Roode can't possibly be as good as whatever pair of nobodies broke up in the WWE most recently.

Of course, if you're not ******ed then it's a whole different story, but I figured somebody had to speak for the people with no voices.

It wont be. Not even close, but not for the amount of people watching.

I dare say less people watched Angle Vs Kenny Anderson a few years back, but that was the stand alone MOTY

I can't even reply to that thread again, I can't imagine any argument being able to get through to any fucking schmuck who thinks people viewing = quality.

This PPV is so very pivotal now. I'm thinking something other than a Storm clean win will happen. But to have this burn for so long is very commendable. We could see this two becoming a big deal early last year, and some really good persona handling.
