CM Punk vs. The Undertaker

OK, with Jeff Hardy supposedly on the way out the undertaker will most likely return to bring some star power back to Smackdown and fill his place as the top face, at least for awhile. So it seems as though a feud between these two is bound to happen. This is a feud we have never seen before, which is definitely a good thing, but my question to you is this:
What kind of storyline would you create for this feud? and How good a feud do you think this would be?

This will be an incredible feud, and should establish Punk as THE top heel on Smackdown!

I honestly don't know what Punk's promos against 'Taker will be. Maybe that Punk lives a good, clean life, while 'Taker uses the power of evil, and how that's bad, and blah, blah, blah...

But yeah, this should be awesome.

This is one im waiting for. honestly i dont know how their promos would be. They could just start the fued with Taker wanting the title. regardless they should have some kick ass matches. CM Punk should get at least 2 clean victory over Taker to solidify him as a main event player

Well, we got the kickoff to this feud tonight after Punk's victory at SummerSlam. I think these two can work well together, but I really hope CM doesn't get buried. Taker can end up with the belt, but if it is after a short reign where Punk looks weak, he falls back down to where he was after his first reign, and I don't know if the Straight Edge Superstar can recover.

Well at Summerslam the Undertaker returned, as i think pretty much everyone predicted, but it was still rather entertaining nonetheless. He attacked CM Punk and set up the feud basically although there really was no reason behind it and I'm not sure what motive they could give the Undertaker to explain his actions. i guess we'll have to wait and see or they'll just not explain at all.

This is going to set up a submission match at Breaking Point for the World title which means we are probably gonna get some MMA style wrestling between the two...
Which i just find humorous seeing as Undertaker is the Unholy Lord of Darkness, who just happens to be well versed in Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu.

This feud will be good, and now that its been set up now thanks to the SummerSlam finish im looking forward to the promos and mic work that goes on here, as well as the matches they will end up having which will entertaining. I can sense that the hopeful submission match at Breaking Point will happen and be MMA style which will be a welcomed thing.

The Straight Edge Superstar against the Lord Of The Darkness will make for interesting matches and segments.

Well, this all but confirms that Jeff is in fact leaving the company as has been reported all over the place. Just as the reports said, they're plugging in the Undertaker for Jeff Hardy. It's a damn shame that the Hardy-Punk feud has to end right now (Shit I'd like to see that feud go on for as long as possible), but the possibilities of a Taker-Punk feud are great as well, and with the Hell in a Cell PPV coming up we can probably expect a Taker-Punk HIAC match, which I for one would think has the potential to be downright amazing.

Can't wait to see how this feud develops. I just wonder what happens to Matt Hardy now that Punk's next feud has been decided on and with Jeff leaving the company. Where does that leave him?

I have to say I was extremely pleased to see that The Undertaker is back once again and really, while in terms of storyline this is bad news for CM Punk, in terms of putting him over I think it's extremely good news. In every interview I've ever heard where other superstars mention The Undertaker, it's always been in extremely good terms. He's the kind of guy who works with a person behind the scenes, really encourages and helps to develop them, and is extremely generous in his willingness to do this. Putting him into a feud with Punk where he will be working closely with 'Taker is probably the best thing that could have happened to him professionally.

Now, to the feud. I liked how they did his return, removing Hardy from his place and replacing him with 'Taker. Not only was it a nasty surprise for Punk, it also shows Jeff...sort of passing the torch back to 'Taker. I also would like the idea of Jeff teaming up with 'Taker in a final tag-team match just to put a cap on this one, his leaving and passing on the contendership "burden" to 'Taker, but I guess we'll see.

CM Punk recently, I have to say, has really established himself as a serious hardcore wrestler and with both him and 'Taker having a martial arts background, I have to say that I have four words for an eventual confrontation between these two: Hell in a Cell! It would be perfect for these two given that, since 'Taker is starting to get up there in age and will probably want to do at least one more before he retires, and Punk hasn't (to my knowledge) ever been in one, this would be a very exciting thing to happen between these two.

I was so into the PPV, that I never really put any thought to Undertaker returning that night. But when the gong sounded I mtfo. I think this feud has the power to be amazing.. I kind of half-wish that 'Taker was his old American-Badass type guy so he could "teach all these young punks some respect when they step into his yard." and whatnot. I too have no clue what the promos are gonna be like, but seeing as how I think CM Punk is pretty boss on the mic, they'll be good. I don't want Taker to win the belt.. like at all. Not at least while CM Punk's holding it because then it'll just make him look incredibly weak, and that's not cool. Smackdown just got a wholeee lot more interesting..

I am going to say that this is going to the first feud of CM Punk's career as a heel to fully solidify his position on the SmackDown roster as a credible main eventer with the likes of Triple H & Randy Orton & become one of the top heels for the brand. As a heel, he has got great charisma with this whole preachy straight-edge angle. He knows how to work as a heel in the ring with his unique moveset & knows how to get heat. Pitting Punk who is coming into his own against a surefire legend whose best work for the WWE in business terms has outshined as of late & you have a formula for success.

The only thing that will be interesting to see is how long these two will go for in the feud & how Punk will play out his character against the Phenom. From what I can guess from speculation & others rough estimates, these two will be indeed locking up until Edge returns from injury basically. So, keep your eyes set on a feud that will be going to around the Rumble IMO. Be nice to see a well-played out feud stretching for a few months.

What's Taker's motivation for attacking Punk?

Well that's easy, Taker only has 3 reasons for fighting anyone, which usually lead on to another fued for one of the other reasons. Either a) the GM makes him, b) he's got a grudge with someone because they were stupid enough to fuck with him first, or c) you're the champ.

My concern is, if Punk had to repeatedly cheat just to beat Hardy, how the fuck are we to believe that he can beat the Undertaker without cheating? Hell man, his win/loss record against Kane isn't spectacular, and now he's facing Taker! Doesn't bode well for those who want Punk's third reign to last more than 4 weeks does it? I imagine this fued will play out much like Orton's current title reign, where he rarely beats anyone clean, without a distarcion or run in of some kind.

If that's how this plays out, i can see it lasting at least til the HIAC PPV, where Taker will blatantly win, or get screwed he like normally does and moves on to fued with whoever screwed him. This'll help Punk's heel character, but won't do much to help him look like a credible champion.

Second of all, how are they going to interact verbally? Taker's dialogue as an undead face is somewhat limited to say the least, plus he's had no run-ins with Punk before so they don't have a history in the ring, and how do you apply a straight edge gimmick to a fued against an undead wrestler?

I'm glad to see Taker back again, but i thought he'd have done something with the Hart Foundation, a stable with nothing to do, whereas Punk could have fueded with anyone on the SD roster for a while, BEFORE facing Taker.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Like everyone else seems to be, I'm quite pleased that this has come about. I wouldn't mind seeing Hardy/Punk continue at all, but Hardy has decide he wants to leave so WWE Creative can't be blamed on this one.

This is exactly the feud that CM Punk need in order to establish himself as both a great heel and as a solidified main eventer. Win or lose, a feud against Taker will elevate Punk's standing tremendously. Personally, I think Taker would be rather pleased to see a lot of young guys on SmackDown getting good solid pushes while he's been away, he's also well known for giving young guys the rub.

Punk and Hardy have played hot potato with the WHC in a way that didn't diminish them or the title. Having Punk also not be the ultra dominant champ, such as losing clean to John Morrison a few times on SD, I think has also been a good thing but I don't think the WWE can draw more water from that well this time. This makes Punk's 3rd time as WHC and I think the reign needs to last for a little while. He's not been seen as an overly brilliant WHC thus far overall, even though his matches and angles have been great, so they shouldn't stick with the same formula this go around.

I don't know what to think of this feud,especially at breaking point.There's no way in Hell Taker's gonna tap out,and I don't think they should make Punk's reign all short again.Hey,did anyone else notice that Taker was in the exact same spot as Jeff,but Jeff wasn't there anymore.Make of that what you will.

I think Punk somehow wins at breaking point. Maybe chloroform or something like they did to Undertaker in the early 90's. Who knows, it will be something ridiculous and really douchebagish like that seeing as how Taker isn't gonna tap.

Breaking Point may very well mark the return of the Anaconda Vise that we've all been waiting for, ladies and gentlemen. But like TM Punk said, I cant see Punk winning this thing without some sort of ridiculous occurrence. Enter another random Kane interference against his brother that knocks him out cold or something, punk slaps on a submission that Undertaker doesn't respond to and the ref calls for the bell?

This feud has a ton of potential and Taker will give the rub to Punk like he did with Orton and Edge the past few years. This is all good news for Punk because when this feud is all said and done, Taker will move on stil the "Phenom" everyone know and Punk will look very legit and The SmackDown! brand will be that much better.

My whole problem with this feud is that I do not see Taker ever tapping. Add to that, this is the Undertaker's big return and even if it was a screw job he isn't taking a loss at his first PPV back. I will be in absolute SHOCK if CM Punk's title reign lasts past Breaking Point.

I see Undertaker winning at Breaking Point, but then Punk obviously somehow always remaining #1 contender. I could see them going at it until Armageddon in December, maybe even trading title reigns.

The other way things may go down is someone actually interferes on the Taker's behalf! Sure, it's not likely, but what if Matt Hardy winds up kind of screwing over Punk? This shifts the attention to Matt trying to get revenge on Punk for forcing Jeff out of WWE now that Matt and Jeff are all tight again. Punk can be sidetracked with Matt and we might see another Kane/Taker feud over the gold this time.

Hopefully this rivalry won't last too long. Undertaker will probabally win the title at breaking point, have the rematch on SmackDown, and that will be it. The only reason people are excited about this match is because they want to see Undertaker in action for the first time in 5 months, and hold a championship for the first time in over a year. I hope this is what will happen, because I don't want to see Undertaker vs. Punk in Hell in a Cell. I think the rivalry will end on SmackDown, and Undertaker can move on to a new rivalry, hopefully with Kane. I would like to see Undertaker vs Kane inside Hell in a Cell.

This is right on. Taker is going to put Punk over as a heel with this feud and hopefully after the Taker feud, Punk can feud with John Morrison since he appears to be ready.

I think that the straight-edge gimmick that Punk does will be milked often. I think he'll talk about how his lifestyle has made him into a champion with "morals" and how Undertaker worships evil and death and so on and so forth. I don't know what the Undertaker says, but there will be a "Rest In Peace".

I don't think Punk is quite ready for an Undertaker feud. They didn't build him properly and he looks VERY weak compared to Taker. But its all that's available so it has to be done. Interesting to see where they go with this and who will take the Title from Taker.
