Dude, Drake's music just speaks to me, all these underrated rappers that these hardcore rap fans go on about, just continue to rap about the same old shit. Drake writes shit that resonates to the average middle-class college student who isn't bothered with gangbanging and weed, but more about girls and fears of failing. Drake's shit is vulverable and a lot more deep than Jay's shit (not that Jay's music isn't the shit, cause it is, just for different reasons.) or a T.I.
I'd rather listen to all of Drake's shit non-stop then have to continue listening to the same old getting money/shooting *****s on the block ghetto warrior's rhyme.
A guy like Nas may be a better rapper, but Drake is a better musician. Songs can be good by more then one type of judging style, when you're in the club you don't wanna be listening to some lyrical masterpiece, you wanna listen to a slick beat that you can move your feet to and catchy lyrics you can sing along to with your mates.
Hardcore Hip-hop fans are so identical with hardcore wrestling fans that it's scary. Both dismiss the mainstream scene as too manufactored and flashy while they sing the praises of underground successes who will never make it to the big time, regardless of how techinical they can get. At the end of the day it is what it is and people need to enjoy it for what it is and not put so much thought into it. Kanye West may have changed his style from harecore rap to more of a hot 40 hip-hop mogul but at the end of the day, it's Yeezy who will be playing on my iPod for monthes to come and not these small time dudes.
Drizzy says it best: "The game needs changin', I'm the motha' fuckin' cashier."
As for Wayne, he has some catchy hits every now and there (Lollypop was my shit when it first went public) but he needs to stop with the autotune whining, I don't know how anybody could complain about T-Pain when Weezy's out there sounding like he's being tortured by an Islamic militant group on his CD's.
