Christian: Heel Turn or Not

There's no doubt in my mind that it was a heel turn. You can't hit one of the two most over people in WWE with his own belt, walk away with said belt, pose on the ramp with it with a smug look on your face AND stay babyface.

I for one, am delighted at this development for a few reasons. Feuds out of respect almost always bore me. There have been times when they haven't, but they mostly do. This one was certainly starting to get on the boring side. Christian will always work better as a heel. It's in his DNA... or something. As a face he was rather bland and boring. As a heel, he cut one of the best promos I've ever seen.

The only negative I have here is the the number of heels SmackDown now has. Christian, Sheamus, Cody Rhodes (who should be in world title contention sooner rather than later), Mark Henry, Jinder Mahal and Wade Barrett are all heels in the upper echelon of SmackDown. While the faces are Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan, Ezekiel Jackson and Sin Cara. I guess another positive is the fact that Daniel Bryan is now the #2 face on SmackDown.

Now we all know that Christian is great as a heel or as a face. Now here's my opinion:

Smackdoen does not have enough main event faces. Randy is the only one as far I see. Now if they push Sin Cara and Daniel Bryant, we could see something. But for right now Christian shouldn't be heel.

But at the same time, in my opinion, if Christian is going to get the title back then he needs to turn heel. Don't ask why, but everyone knows that he did get the title because They couldn't take title to Raw, and Edge retired. I'm not saying that Christian didn't deserve the title, (hell I'm a peep through and through. He's should have been had the title.) but the circumstances pretty much gave it to him. He has to go heel to get the title back. It's a paradox really.

I hear what you are saying but I think it's a pretty close tie between Daniel and Cara for #2. Cara kind of has that edge over him because he's new and fresh and give the fans what they want a little bit more. Even though right now, Daniel Bryant is the most technical wrestler in the buisnees right now, the fans seems to Like Sin Cara just a little more.

Why are there even people questioning this? This was a full blown heel turn, plain as day.
What may be a little confusing about this is that Christian's motivation was actually so credible. All too often you have people suddenly snap and from one day to the next they turn heel as if they woke up a different person that morning. What was different with Christian was that it all made sense. A lot of fans felt somewhat sympathetic towards what he did. This was different from the "I hate you people and from now on I only care about myself"-routine.
And finally Christian is heel again, the way he is meant to be. I was a huge peep during his last heel run, but as a face he always lacked that certain something a little.

I am very pleased with where Christian is currently heading and very relieved to see that his short title run really served a greater purpose.

It's a babyface turn as it pertains to me personally. I cannot stand Orton as a top "babyface"...as I think he has little to no charisma whatsoever. I'll be the annoying guy cheering for Christian at the next ppv because Orton is a massive snooze fest.

A heel christian is the way to go. I remember him when he was heel in TNA and he was so much better. The only thing Christian would need is a bodyguard (not Tomko because he sucks) to make him more heel.

I am so damn torn on this issue. For the good of his career and having been a fan of Christian forever, I feel like he's got to turn heel to remain so near the top of Smackdown. Clearly Orton has become the face of Smackdown and almost a Cena clone at this point. I used to like his tweener character quite alot, but I have grown very tired of him in the last few months due to the fact that he literally never loses. That coupled with the fact that they immediately had him win the title that Christian had finally just won makes me think they don't have faith in Christian as a top face. So to remain near the top and potentially get another world title run he has to go heel because he will never be able to compete with Orton as a face.

That said, Smackdown is heavily laden with heels including a main eventer in Sheamus and a guy in Barrett who could easily make that transition, not to mention Rhodes flirting with breaking that glass ceiling. If Christian turns, he may get lost in the shuffle of heels plus it would leave a void for the second face on Smackdown.
