Cena's Best Matches

Coming of his "instant classic" with CM Punk this past Monday, I looked for some of Cena's best matches on Youtube. I re-watched Cena v.s HBK from Raw. I watched the Cena vs. Edge TLC match from Unforgiving. Cena and Batista at Extreme Rules. There are tons of good matches.


What are some of Cena's best matches?

Cena vs. Orton at Summerslam 2007 made me a WWE fan again after taking a few years off. The 2 have good chemistry in the ring.

John Cena vs JBL, I Quit match. Tons of blood in it.

The easy answer is his match at MITB 2011 but Cena had so many good matches. He got a good match out of so many guys its insane. Instead of naming his best matches I'm gonna name guys he had great matches with and name the best one:

1) CM Punk (MITB 2011 although his RAW match was awfully close and probably the best TV match I've seen in a long time)

2) Edge (Unforgiven 2006)

3) Batista (WM 26)

4) HBK (RAW in April 2007)

5) Orton (Breaking Point 2009 - Iron Man Match)

I'm sure there is more but that's what comes to mind immediately.

His matches with Umaga and The Great Khali were entertaining.

Didn't he have a really good match with HHH on Raw like a week before Night of Champions?

5) Orton (Breaking Point 2009 - Iron Man Match)

I'm sure there is more but that's what comes to mind immediately.

That was at Bragging Rights. Breaking Point had the I Quit match.

Vs. Edge I forget the PPV but he FU'd or AA'd edge through 3 sets of tables.

To be honest cena and edge were good matches

Yeah you're right who cares? WWE keeps changing PPV's so I lose track which match was on which event. At least add to the conversation instead of just posting for the sake of sounding smart.

I can't be bothered to look up the PPV names, but he's had great matches with Brock Lesnar, Batista, Umaga, Kane, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, CM Punk, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and last year with the Rock.

I think it would be much harder to find Cena matches that actually sucked.

His matches with Edge, Punk, and his last few ones with Batista were really good. He's had a lot of good ones

I thought his Rock match was very good but I wouldn't consider it his best match. Personally I was just a bigger fan of his matches with Punk and Batista for example, just felt they had a better story and were more entertaining.

 

[King Sheamus]

His match with Punk at mitb had it all. The crowd was electric and it had that big feel to it. Not to mention all the near falls and the fact that punk shocked many of us by winning.

 

[Moon Knight]

His one against Ziggler in the steel cage was better. Punk should get more credit, it takes two to fandango.

Mania '22 vs. Triple H was really good. As was Umaga vs. Cena at Rumble '07. Just re-watched both of them.

 

[The Dragon Saga]

Vs. The Undertaker at Vengeance 2003; his rap is hilarious.

Vs. Kurt Angle; Survivor Series 2005.

Vs. Umaga; New Years Revolution 2006?

Vs. Van Dam; ONS 2006 - not the best wrestling match, but the atmosphere makes it.

Vs Punk on Raw the other night was great.

Otherwise, the I Quit vs JBL was awesome & I enjoyed Cena vs Edge vs Big Show just because he had Show & Edge on his shoulders at one point.

vs Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules. MOTY last year and was just brutal. Great chemistry, great psychology, and a great finish.

vs CM Punk at MITB. What more can you say about this match.

vs RVD at ONS. I love this match because Cena worked that ECW crowd so well. His expressions when he did the "You can't see me" along with the 5 knuckle shuffle, just awesome.

vs Batista/Triple H WM 26/22. Tie for these two matches.

vs Jericho at Armageddon 2008. Really good match. Great counters from Jericho and they had a great feud at the end of 2008.

 

[Mr. HD]

vs HBK in an Iron Man Match on RAW in 2007. This may just be Cena's best match IMO.

vs Edge at Summerslam 2006. Great match in Cena's hometown. Edge always brought out the best in Cena.

vs Edge at Unforgiven 2006 in a TLC Match. One of the best TLC Matches I've seen.

vs Undertaker at Vengeance 2003. Good storytelling, even better match. Back when Cena wasn't too bulky and still a bit skinny.

vs Big Show at WrestleMania 20. Cena's first Mania as a face and the match that really put his name on the map if it wasn't already.

vs Undertaker on SmackDown in 2004. A real hidden gem during Cena's strong face run when people really loved him. Worth a look.

There's one sort-of big match many of you are forgetting.

I forget the date but it was on SmackDown and I was there at this event.

It was Cena vs. Rene Dupree for the U.S. Title in a lumberjack match.

One of the better Cena matches I've seen. I think this was back in March-June 2004
