Canadian Posters on here...

What you refer to as trolling, I refer to as wanting to get to the bottom of a certain attitude that exists in why Bret Hart would be regarded as a hero.

I am also very intrigued about the over-sense of patriotism in Canada, where as the U.S., this sense of being "overly proud to be an American" is dying, and is really only existent in the Bible Belt down the center in our country.

The days of Yankee Doodle Dandee patriotism is going away in America, because we know this country is by no means perfect, after the decade we just went through.

I don't see Mexicans going around and being overly proud that they are Mexican. Same with the British.

So why with Canadians? What is so great about Canada, that people feel the need to pound their chest and say "I'm proud to be Canadian"?

All I want to see of everyone is to lose the Nationalist attitude. That's all.

I must have missed everyone waving flag day here. Then again, maybe we won;).

Canada does rock hard though. If it was only a bit warmer. I would force them to become a state. The whole thing.

Um, Fuck Norcal, what the hell do you think we are tryintg to do? We already give all our coal to China to burn, to help heat the world. What more do you want?

Im sorry. I just love me some Canada. Beautiful cities, loads of hot women, Bret Hart. Come now. Thing being, I could never live in a place thats not America.

Well since I am Mexican and you mentioned Mexicans, I decided to reply.

There is some Mexicans who are very aggressive when you talk bad about them, but it happens so often it's not really much of an offense to us anymore. I don't care if anyone insults Mexico, they're probably right. True Americans around here in California aren't so patrotic I mean yes they do love their country I'm sure, but getting offended because someone says Fuck the U.S. or something of that nature is pointless.

Awesome
I'm also mexican. I didnt know you were mexican.

Nationalism is everywhere. Some people (TM) are more nationalistic than others. Nothing wrong with being proud of your country. Hypernationalism, however, can be a problem.

As for not considering Bret Hart a hero, who can tell another person who they can't look up to? Just last quarter in my graphics class I got into a big argument with my teacher because she wouldn't let me put Billy Mays on a stamp despite the assignment being "Make a stamp for your hero". I happen to look up to Billy Mays because he went out and helped people and was a family man and a genuinely nice guy.

People can idolize whoever they want.

I have never heard CMVP come on here and talk about "how DAMN PROUD I am to be MEXICAN."

That's the kind of thing I am getting at.

Personally, I think it's silly to be proud of something you had zero control over, like where you are born.

I'm curious, do you think it's silly to be proud of someone else? Perhaps a friend quitting smoking successfully or getting perfect exam results?

I know this will sound bad, but the biggest reason I love being Canadian is because we have all the things we need, without the negative American Stereotype. The world loves Canada, as Norcal said, just because we are awesome. We've never went to war, we don't steal from other counrtys, we're not poor, etc.

We also have the best beer in the world. Nuff Said.

If you're going to be so goddamn picky about it, would you prefer I say "I'm happy I'm Canadian" instead?

So wait, there's complaints of some people giving Canada a bad name in what sounds like a patriotic argument whilst the one complaining has a signature of the United States Champion?

Canada isn't North fucking Korea and out beer doesn't taste like piss. That's at least two things about us that decidedly rock. Thus, I'm choosing to be proud of us.
