Can you take Abyss seriously?

I can see why someone would ask this question. Over the past couple of years, Abyss' character has gone through so many changes. He's gone from being this goofy gentle giant, to being this creepy monster, and then of course there was the whole power Hall Of Fame ring angle.

When Abyss is playing the monster role, he can be very convincing. His heel turn was done well. He truly looked like a physco as he destroyed Jeff hardy and Mr Anderson. Abyss can be a pretty scary heel when he's given the chance. I just hope TNA doesn't decide to screw with his character again.

What's Abyss' gimmick? Sadistic monster who loves to inflict and receive pain. Yeah... that's awful! That's never worked in this business before!

What's Abyss' ring attire? A dark covering with a cool logo and a mask. Yeah... that's awful! Who could possible watch something so atrocious?!

And mic skills... you HAVE to have mic skills to succeed! No wrestler has ever accomplished anything without them! You hit that nail right on the head, chief!

Is this 2006? Are people still saying John Cena is the worst wrestler ever and can't wrestle at all? Are we still saying AJ Styles ONLY does flips and nothing else?

In this day and age it sure aint easy. You had your Goldbergs and your Brock Lesnars and Batistas but they had other tools at their disposal, the swav image, a trail of destruction, or a mouth piece to back them. Abyss had one of those and in 2010 he now has none of those. His character is aimless. Asking Abyss to have his character do things without help is like thinking a canine can actually do neighborhood patrols like his K9 officer could on his own..

Is this 2006?
