Slaughter's tough, but Edge proved before that he's more tougher. In what many considered the greatest hardcore match of this era, Edge brutalized Mick Foley. Slaughter's early work was going toe to toe with the Iron Shiek and they brutalized each other from the Garden to Boston.

Despite that, Slaughter's 1 WWE title run cannot compare to Edge's 11 World titles. Spear from out of nowhere in a good 8 minute match.

My vote: "The Rated R Superstar"

I'm pretty sure Edge will go over by a huge margin, but he probably shouldn't..by a huge margin, I mean.

Sgt. Slaughter, in the mid 80's, was the second biggest babyface draw WWF had, behind Hogan. He had his own G.I. Joe action figure, and was always doing battle with some Soviet or Iranian. He was much, much bigger than most choose to remember. As a heel, he main evented Wrestlemania, capitalizing on Desert Storm. He was a big deal.

But Edge..he takes this. Slaughter was a big name guy, but he also jobbed out quite a bit to bigger-name stars, and this wouldn't be any different. Slaughter does some damage, but Edge his the (horrible looking) Spear around 13-14 minutes in.

It doesn't matter how many times Sgt. Slaughter calls Edge a maggot, Edge has this one in the bag. Slaughter was a big name, but Edge has overcome more than Slaughter and I think he'll use his more diversified offense to win. Edge is a talent that will prove to be too much for Slaughter and he gets the win.

The Sarge is a former WWF World Champion, and at one time in his career, was one of the better Heels there ever was. WWF booked him as a Turncoat during The Gulf War and made him a Sadam Hussein sympathizer. He even won the World Title from this gimmick.

But his career accolades, in ring ability, mic work and just about every other stat you can think of, he is not as good as Edge. It is hard to say a Legend and former World Champ such as Sgt. Slaughter is outclassed in any match up, but I think this is exactly what is going down in this match and Edge beats him relatively handily.

I've never been particularly impressed by Sgt. Slaughter. He was alright inside the ring but never did anything to wow me. If you heard one promo from the guy, you heard them all really.

Edge is just simply a better pro wrestler. He's more technically sound, he's faster, more agile, more athletic, more charismatic a better talker, etc. I just can't think of a single reason to vote Slaughter over Edge here.

Granted, Sgt Slaughter may be a legend, but Edge is one of those guys, to me, whether heel or face, always seems to hit the spot when it comes to entertainment. He has the ability to make crowds go crazy for him. It doesn't seem to matter who his opponent is, he knows how to get inside their minds and screw with them enough to make them doubt their ability no matter how much bigger his opponent is. That man is always determined to get what he wants. From being a goofy, 5 second posing hipster, to the maniacal no holds barred fighter, he's proven that whatever face of Edge we are seeing, he's always going to do something that leaves the WWE Universe remembering something as he holds the gold high in the air. That's why I'm such an Edge-head.

Sorry, but the Sgt loses this one for me. While he was a great commodity during the golden days of the WWE, he'll never be the wrestler Edge is. Edge has proven himself numerous times. Hellacious TLC and Hardcore matches over the course of his career including one that may have been the start of his main event career when he faced Mick Foley in one of the best Hardcore matches the WWE has seen. While Sgt. Slaughter may look strong and tough, he doesn't hold a candle to the amount of toughness Edge has displayed in his career. Edge has overcame multiple career ending injuries including a neck injury. Edge wins easily with a quick running hug.

I agree completely, Nick said that Sgt was the second biggest face behind Hogan, well I think it's due to the American context. The US were in a war so who could be the greatest american patriot? None other that could interpret a soldier..

Edge wins it here, Sgt. Slaughter might be a legend, but Edge has fought and beatem the best the business has to offer (Cena, Orton, Taker, Michaels, Jericho...) and he is a 11 time world champion. Back in 05 there wasn't a bigger heel and he didn' took advantage of any real context, he only need his talent and charisma.

Who has had he more success in the ring? Edge, so that's who is going to get my vote.

Sgt. Slaughter may have been extremely popular among the US fans, but it's along the same line as to why "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan was extremely popular with the fans, they were patiots.

Anyone can use America to get over with the crowd, but that's using a crutch. Besides, we're in Canada for this match, and it's going to be hard for Slaughter to rally a U-S-A chant to get him motivated.

This isn't a popularity contest and Edge is able to play a mental game with you outside of the ring, before he plays a physical game inside of it.

Sgt. Slaughter as a face was precisely the sort of person to get done over by face Edge. He'd go to the match all noble, and end up being cheated out of a win. By the time Slaughter turned heel and won the title, he did so very much by being in the right place at the right time. His win may just be the dirtiest finish in wrestling history, and came about because of world politics. Edge is unbelievably good at beating people that aren't John Cena, and that is the case here as far as I can see. Edge wins.

This was an easy one. Edge is a multi-time major title holder. You can second guess how valid all of his victories were, as the ultimate opportunist, but the simple fact of the matter is, his resume is what his resume is. Over and above his major victories, he has held mid card titles, tag titles, and has always managed to keep himself relevant even when not possessing any gold.

Slaughter, on the other hand, was an average wrestler with a patriotic gimmick which won him a lot of favor with the US audience, much like Duggan, but in the end, truth be told, he really wasn't really that good.

Give this one to Edge, comfortably.

Edge gets my vote here. I have really never seen the appeal of Slaughter he is nothing special at all. Edge has been in so many memorable moments in WWE its hard to count he is a 11 time World Champion and a numerous tag champion. Edge should win this by a landslide.

Edge with a spear to Slaughter in the middle of the ring is what i can already hear the announcers calling. I was never a big fan of Slaughter he might of had a good gimmick to some people(Americans) but i was never impressed by his in ring skills.

This really probably shouldn't be as cut and dry as everyone seems to think it is. In the early 80s, Sarge was one of the most popular faces in wrestling, even cross promoting with G.I. JOE and shit. His heel character was one of the most hated characters ever. I'd say the guy has a pretty stacked career. He's a Hall Of Famer to boot.

That being said, Edge is one of my all time favorite wrestlers. I can actually remember his vignettes back in the day when he was a rookie and being completely captivated, waiting for him to show up. Here we are, more than 10 years later, and the man is a surefire Hall Of Fame inductee.

I'm going Edge.

Edge has beaten everybody put infront of him in recent years, and Sarge would be no exception.

Slaughter may have been a HUGE star in his day but there is nothing in his offense that is better than anything Edge can pull out of the bag. Edge's speed, agility and intelligence will end up giving him the advantage, and an Edgecution will put down Slaughter after 9 minutes
