C’mon WWE….Tell us what REALLY happened!

Mustang Sally

Sells seashells by the seashore
Wouldn’t it be great to know how certain events in WWE came about? I’m talking about the inside dope on what really happened behind the scenes to make it so. What was the true story that brought about a certain program…..or prevented one from happening? Why are some folks pushed while others aren't? Why did certain performers really leave the company? A while back, we had a member of the forum who claimed to be a writer for WWE and knew the inside scoop on everything. Sure, he quickly turned out to be a phony, but how great would it be to have someone who really knew?

Knew what? Well, for example:

--What in hell really happened with Kharma? There were such grand plans for her a year and a half ago that were squashed by her surprising pregnancy. If she intended to return all along after giving birth, what happened? Was it her idea to not come back, even after her surprise appearance at the Royal Rumble…….or was it WWE’s? Were they forced to fire her because of factors we’re not privy to? Is her state of mind still fragile because of her miscarriage? She’s got to go back to work sometime, doesn’t she? Does she want to go back to TNA? What? What? What?

--What is it like to be John Cena? I’m not talking about things that guy in Prison cares about, I’m talking about what it’s like to be the most important performer in the company. Does he have creative input or does he perform only as directed? Does he have the right to refuse something he doesn’t like? More importantly, does he have the power? When you're the undisputed, #1 person in an organization, can you call the shots?

Personally, I’d love to think of him as the nice guy he presents as, genuinely interested in all the Make-a-Wish stuff he does and truly charming to the talk show hosts on whose programs he shows up, but who really knows? Was he a monster to his wife or was she out of line with her demands? Does he really have friction with The Rock? What does he really think of his fellow performers and how does he treat them?

In my opinion, it’s illogical that so many fans seem to detest him for the “Super Cena” tendencies we sometimes see, because he certainly presents more as a regular human being than, say, Hulk Hogan ever did. Think of the Nexus program; when faced with insurmountable odds against him, Cena wisely turned tail and ran from the ring. Can you imagine Hogan doing that? Or Shawn Michaels or Bret Hart? How did management get Cena to agree to that? Did he hate the idea? Was it his own idea? I’d love to know.

--Incidentally, I have many of the same questions about C.M. Punk. Was he really almost out of WWE last Summer, or was the whole thing a work? A partial work? Is he really as knocked out by his own persona as he presents? Does he really believe a lot of the “voice of the voiceless” stuff he spouts, or is it strictly his act?

--As always, I come back to Drew McIntyre. On this forum, I’ve never seen a non-star get so many threads devoted to questions about him. But, that’s the thing; they're all questions many of us would like to get answers to: After his “Chosen One” push (which I still consider more of a curse than a blessing, given the expectations involved in a mission like that) he’s received almost nothing. Why was his program with Kelly Kelly abruptly abandoned? Is his tiff with Tiff really the reason he’s been kept down all this time? I mean, jeez, it’s been two years! How long would they hold something like that against him……if they ever did? Does WWE use outside factors as a reason to keep other people down, too?

Mostly, what are the company’s intentions for Drew? Are they just waiting for his contract to expire so they can dump him? Is he waiting for the same thing so he can dump them? Were they finally planning a new program for him to result from that mess with Teddy Long in which Drew lost week after week on Smackdown and was finally “fired?” What happened to that program…..if there was one? What happened to the "gay" program they had seemingly developed for him some months ago? It would be nice to truly know.

--Dolph & Cody……. Why them? They are the favored sons of WWE as far as having them shoved down our throats over the past couple of years. I like them both…..I really do…..but still wonder: why them? Does WWE really see them as the foundation of the company’s future?.....or is the company determined to make them the building blocks whether we like it or not? What does Vince McMahon actually see when he looks at Dolph and Cody? By extension, how does he determine who the other stars and jobbers will be? Does he ever change his mind? Does he ever take the opinions of others on his staff into consideration? What happens if Stephanie or Triple H want something he doesn’t want?

I’m sure you have many other questions you’d love to have answered about what really happens in WWE. I can’t think of a organization of any type that keeps it’s secrets as well as WWE; with all the social media garbage, they seem to be giving us a lot of information……..yet, for practical purposes, the stuff we’d really like to know remains well hidden.

Yes, the sun will still rise tomorrow morning whether we know these things or not, but, as loyal fans of pro wrestling, wouldn’t it be great to get the inside handle on a lot of these questions?

I like hot dogs. They've never been my favorite food but I really enjoy eating them. Over the years I've learned about some of the things that end up in hot dogs as well as the process of how they are prepared. It is interesting to learn but it makes me not want to eat hot dogs so much. We've learned some inside stuff about professional wrestling as it is. Some of it true, some of it not. Once thing if for certain, there is a lot more fecal matter in the world of professional wrestling than hot dogs. I am going to continue to want to learn more about the inner working but I don't think I really want to know the truth.

I'd bet anything that the CM Punk contract situation was a total work. I'm supposed to believe that his contract happened to expire the day after MITB? And they would build and angle around him potentially leaving with the belt, let him bury the company on the mic in the process, and actually put the title on him without a contract? I think CM Punk pitched this angle to WWE from his ROH days and they worked the shit out of the wrestling news sites. Just reading the internet reports made me suspicious. It was all too convenient. The "backstage reports" about negotiations breaking down just as the same thing was being portrayed on TV. And of course Triple H becoming an on screen authority figure and Johnny Ace being introduced as an on screen character. Was this all really the product of CM Punk's "shoot" or vice versa?

Cena is not a nice guy at all in real life. He acts like a high school jock and he thinks his crap don't stink. I had a friend that was in wwe from 2006 to 2009 and he was a jobber type of wrestler. He said he tried to shake cena hands 5 times over the years and cena just brushed him off like he wasn't even there. One time cena was having drinks with some referees and my friend came down and cena looked over and said " if he's here, i'm leaving".
He also talked about cheating on his wife to jonathan coachman.

Interesting Thread.

There are tonnes of questions that people want answers to, The OP has only scratched the surface. Here are some recent ones i'd like to ask the top Suits in WWE.

Why is Jinder Mahal rumoured to be getting a push over someone like Drew Mcintyre?

Why would Steve Austin not attend Raw1000 and not tell anyone he wasn't going to be there?

Why are you holding back on a Dean Ambrose Debut?

How much Dollar are you paying The Rock for making 5 minute appearences?

Is there bad blood backstage between John Cena and Randy Orton?

What did Triple H actually say to The Miz when he moved out of the way injuring R-Truth?

The List go's on.

Fans can answer these questions that could possibly be the correct answer, like Dean Ambrose is still being Developed. This is an answer that we all assume is the truth, but there could be another reason behind the scenes.

It would be cool if Triple H or Vince was forced to sit down in front of fans once a year to answer these questions. However when asked such questions, they would probably still cover up with false answers.

Sadly we will never know the full stories behind many things we want to know in Pro-Wrestling. I'm sure other Companies are exactly the same. It;s like at Work. I have asked plenty of questions at work to my managers, and i rarely get a straight answer.

I truly believe cena is down with the make a wish program. my former sister in laws friend was dying of cancer and her wish was to meet cena, and her wish was granted. from what i heard of the meeting, he was genuinely caring and didnt just pop in but stayed with her for quite some time. i am not by far a cena fan for his on screen character, but am a huge fan of his as a human being. whatever happenned with him and his former wife is none of my business, break ups are a bitch, but i do believe he does enjoy, as hard as it may be at times, granting peoples wishes.

I would just like some GENERAL truth from WWE.

Ex. - Don't have Lawler say everyone is cheering "Sheamus", when we can hear the word "Ziggler".

Ex. - Tell us Tensai was Albert & Miz was on Tough Enough. Most peole who care know already anyways, so why hide and act like it never happened?!

^^^^Biggest Pet Peave of WWE EVER! Thee Ol' "Sweep it Under the Rug" and act like it was never their routine.

why should wwe tell you all the behind the scenes stuff? do you enjoy a movie less because you don't know how they special effects are done? one of the biggest problems we have in wrestling right now is people know too much - it makes companies try and out-think the audience instead of focusing on producing a good product. i do think there are times that wwe could be a little more honest and upfront about things but in general the public doesn't need to know what happens when the camera are off. want to know all the gory details? get a job with wwe.

The reason wwe doesnt tell you this stuff is because its personal.... im pretty sure Super Cena doesnt want to tell you every thing he does every single day.. which is probly lifting weights and training even though he still sucks and cant wrestle lol. and you can tell who is a douche bag, STARTING WITH DOLPH AND CODY. And the reason people get pushes is because they either SUCK UP TO VINCE... Like CM PUNK SAID !! Or you have the talent and potential Like Dolph,Cody and Sandow.

I agree with whopping ass, we don't need to know every single detail that goes on behind the scenes, let's just enjoy the product, we might like some things and other things not so much,, for example, the apple i phone factory, or any other factory are not telling anyone how or what they use to build their product, they just do and people enjoy it without asking so many questions, i don't exactly remember where i heard this, but it aplies here: Just because you love cheeseburgers, that doesn't mean that you want to meet the cow, just saying..........

I see what you're saying. I'd love to know why McIntyre's push didn't fall through and he ended up becoming a jobber. It would be interesting to know what goes on in those creative meetings. Do the higher-ups just stick a guy with something and they have to roll with it or get lost? Do wrestlers like Cena, Orton, and Punk have any say in what's going on as far as on-air personalities go? However, maybe we don't need to know everything that really happens. It would probably just make things even more complicated.

Why would Steve Austin not attend Raw1000 and not tell anyone he wasn't going to be there?

Austin already answered this, he just had surgery recently and refused to do anything unless he could be the Austin everybody remembers. Its that simple. Nothing more to it.

I don't get why people want to know everything in and out of the business, I mean its like asking what really happens behind the scenes of Friends or anything other show ever made.

I don't know if I want to know everything, but I do like this post because the OP is absolutely correct that we do want more answers . I think the one I would love answers on the most is "Why was wrestler X future endeavoured?" To me that wrestler is Vladimir Kozlov. He had a fun little gimmick going on with Santino, and if I remember correctly he got "injured" on Raw and the next day he was "Future Endeavoured". Why was he released?

There are a few things that I would like the answer to. As far as storylines go, I like suspense, I don't read spoilers and like to know what's going to happen till it happens. But, when something like the Kharma situation becomes a mystery, I want to know what happened because I already had an invested interest the characters growth and development and now I'm left high and dry without a clue. I don't need every tid bit about the ongoings behind the scenes, but when you see the stop-go process in a superstars push, it boggles the mind. I was reading that A-Ry's push stopped because he stood up to Cena's ribbing and that goes disaccording to the lockeroom tradition. Not that I was ever a fan of A-Ry, but I did wonder why he was being left off TV after his feud with miz. I think it would be good to know stuff like that. Mustang brought up some great questions that I think we all want answers to. The closest I got to the behind the scenes scoop, is listening to MLW podcast with Court Bauer and Konnan. You'd be suprised how much Konnan knows and he doesn't bite his tounge, niether does Court. I'm not advertising for MLW, but I think every wrestling fan should listen.

Thank you Mustang for a very good topic of discussion.

Remember though, especially in the case of someone like Kharma the privacy of the information may not only be something withheld in the best interest of the organization but also be something very personal for the superstar. The talent are real people who have their own personal issues and it is none of our business if they don't want it to be our business.

I think it's pretty clear that he agreed to an extension right before the whole angle started(right before his worked shoot promo), and the entire angle was agreed to as part of the extension.

Cena is not a nice guy at all in real life. He acts like a high school jock and he thinks his crap don't stink. I had a friend that was in wwe from 2006 to 2009 and he was a jobber type of wrestler. He also talked about cheating on his wife to jonathan coachman.

So we're supposed to give more credence to one guy who had 5 interactions with Cena in his life than thousands of other people COMBINED who say otherwise? Even if you're telling the truth, even if you're friend is telling the truth...what's the whole story? How do we know your friend didn't do something to piss off Cena? I find it hard to believe Cena would refuse to acknowledge him, refuse to be in the same place as him, for no reason.

I would just like some GENERAL truth from WWE.

^^^^Biggest Pet Peave of WWE EVER! Thee Ol' "Sweep it Under the Rug" and act like it was never their routine.

...what do you want them to do? Introduce Tensai as "The wrestler formerly known as Albert, Lord Tensai"? Have The Miz tattoo "Tough Enough" on his forehead? They haven't made either one of those a secret. They've mentioned Tensai's previous time in the WWE, they've mentioned Miz's time on Tough Enough and other reality shows. Neither is a big part of their character, so why should they keep mentioning it every time they're on TV?

why should wwe tell you all the behind the scenes stuff? do you enjoy a movie less because you don't know how they special effects are done? one of the biggest problems we have in wrestling right now is people know too much - it makes companies try and out-think the audience instead of focusing on producing a good product. i do think there are times that wwe could be a little more honest and upfront about things but in general the public doesn't need to know what happens when the camera are off. want to know all the gory details? get a job with wwe.

Have you ever watched a DVD? They almost ALWAYS have behind the scenes specials, cut scenes, bloopers, making of videos, director/actor commentaries...MTV has an entire show devoted to how music videos are made. Why are you acting like this stuff doesn't happen? I wholeheartedly agree with you that one of the industry's biggest problems is the internet, but your line about movies is just false - people DO know how the special effects are done.

Like it was said at the time, Austin's explanation was 100% bullshit. Complete garbage that was a total insult to everybody who read it, and you repeating it is just a further insult. Austin had his surgery 3 weeks before Raw 1000. They'd been advertising it for months, and obviously negotiating with stars for months, beforehand. Austin had obviously decided he wasn't going to be there before he had his surgery. And no, the surgery wasn't needed immediately, Austin himself said it was simply to fix years of wear and tear from wrestling. That means it could've waited another 3 weeks.

And like I said above, yeah it is like asking what really happens behind the scenes of Friends...and that's why they tell us what happens behind the scenes of Friends! Because people want to know!

I think it would be better, and easier, for them to tell us about the past. I don't think you can really expect them to give away secrets about current stars, because it might give away what's coming up or force them to alter their booking decisions...plus, like others have said, it might kind of ruin your view of it if you know why stuff is happening now But I think we could go back and find out...say, what would've happened with Vince's limo explosion, or what would've happened if Mr Kennedy didn't get suspended and was revealed as Vince's illegitimate child. Or what happened behind the scenes with the Invasion. Or who has behind GTV and who raised the briefcase. Or whether or not Ludvig Borga was really supposed to be WWF Champion. Stuff like that you might actually be able to get answers to, and it wouldn't spoil the current product.

This is a great concept in theory. We all know that WWE would never tell the complete truth especially if it made them look bad. WWE had a show similar to this with WWE Confidential in 2002. It was mainly a recap of events but they did deal with major storylines and sometimes real life insider type stuff too. Shawn Michaels' whole 2002 return was based around the shoot interviews done on Confidential about the controversy in Montreal and the Bret Hart screwjob. I liked that particular episode in specific because they let Shawn tell his story and didn't try to hide the truth. Which was in stark contrast to the Steve Austin walkout of that same year[2002]. They had everyone from Vince McMahon on down to jobbers talking about Austin in a very negative way and trying to get sympathy from their fans. True, Austin wasn't 100% in the clear for walking out, but neither were WWE for doing a smear campaign to be spiteful.

With the whole Twitter and Facebook trends, it would totally make sense to bring back a WWE Confidential type of show[maybe even with the same name, just a different host no more Mean Gene]. They could have all the social media doing polls and asking questions about what fans wanna know about. It could be a shoot type of show and one that could blur the lines of shoot and real life. If done correctly, this concept could be a major promotion tool as well and drawing in fans who would be curious to know all the perceived backstage information. It would be interesting to see what certain people think about various topics past and present.

Great topic.

As fans we are very passionate about the product and want to find out as much as we can. News of who is being pushed or not, issues going on within the organization, when a debut might happen, and spoilers for taped events just to name a few. Even though we want to know more, sometimes knowing too much takes away from the enjoyment.

How many surprises have been ruined by the fact that fans know more about today's product? Far too many to count. Not to mention the fact that some questions regarding issues might remain unanswered forever, the information might be too personal or controversial and thus is kept a secret. I want to know as much about WWE as I can, but if something is not for me to know then I am able to respect that. I want to know if Drew's fight with his ex-wife led to his demotion, why they made The Rock defeat Cena, what really happened with Kharma, and other things like that but sometimes things might be better left unknown because in some cases the more you know about something the tougher it is to simply enjoy it.

We sit on here analyzing WWE on a daily basis and sometimes forget to just sit back and enjoy the show. While I would certainly want to find out as much as I can regarding what's going on, I find myself wondering if it was really worth it to know that piece of information. Sometimes the fact that we DON'T know certain questions' answers can make something more interesting. It's like dealing with secret clubs when you were a kid, once they let you in on their secrets you realize it isn't as interesting anymore. I'm ok without knowing EVERYTHING about WWE. Still.... It definitely would be nice to know the truth behind what happened with McIntyre at the very least.

i agree, i mean we do get the backstage scoop and gossip on movie stars in crappy magazines, for Wrestling we get the scoop from sites like this, but to be honest a lot of the time i wish i hadn't found out the truth as it ruins the story completely, i mean imagine finding out that the montreal screwjob was just a work that they came up with as a way to get bret free of the title and that bret was fine with it and maybe it was even his idea? History would be ruined by things like that, the mystery is what makes it fun, what makes it engaging, what gives us things to talk about on here, so why ruin that for everyone as part of your existing product? that's just a terrible idea
