Burn Notice

Not only was that a freaking great episode, but next week looks even better? Who do you think captured Michael from his past? Simon? Too obvious. I'm going with Larry. Remember Larry? "Dead" Larry Sizemore. I believe he kidnapped Nate a season or two ago, and had Mike going around doing all sorts of tasks.

Simon? Too obvious. I'm going with Brennen. Remember Brennen? I believe he kidnapped Nate a season or two ago, and had Mike going around doing all sorts of tasks. This is a quote from the wikipedia page on Burn Notice season 4. So It's either Brennen or Larry. Or did Larry already appear this season? I'm a little rusty from seasons ago.

Additionally, Tim Matheson will reprise his role as "Dead" Larry Sizemore and Jay Karnes will reprise his role as Tyler Brennen.

Once again, my favorite day of the week, Thursday! Burn Notice on tonight!

My TV guide says:

"Dead or Alive"
Michael and Sam work to clear an old friend of Sam's; Michael must meet with Jesse's handler.

Just commenting on this now, because I wasn't able to watch Burn Notice when it first came on.

Last week's episode was terrific. I fucking LOVE Johnny the car thief. He wasn't quite as badass as he was in the first episode he appeared, but awesome character.

I'm excited for tonight, even though I don't think I'll be able to watch it again.

Why won't you be able to watch it again Sly? We only have one more week, next week we'll get two new episodes in one night.

I do have a site where I was watching all episodes of Burn Notice season 1 over the summer, because I never say the first episode, I saw the rest of the first season, but never the first. I intended to watch more of them, but I stopped after season 2. I know they had all the episodes there, even the ones from the last season. I'm not going to say any sites though, because I'm pretty sure it's against the rules. They were good quality too though.

Girlfriend time. I might get to watch it at her place, but ya never know. I do have Charter, and they have video on demand, so I'll watch it tomorrow if I can't today.

I just buy all the DVD/Blu-Ray.

Damn. I passed out around 6pm, ended up missing it. I woke up about an hour ago, but it was already about a half hour through the encore. Though knowing Burn Notice, I waited till the last 10 minutes, and turned it back on.

Can anybody fill me in on some things? Was Brennen there the whole episode? Who had Michael in the chair from the previews last week?

Next week looks like it'll be big, I'm not so hot about it starting an hour early though, I'd prefer it'd be an hour later, but it's no biggy. Next week's finale looks like a good one, but I'm not sure if it can top the ones from before.

I thought last night's episode was one of the best of this half season. Watching Sam get so pissed and nearly killing that guy was just awesome. And when Michael comes back from almost getting blown up and the dude in the car says, "You...you're..." and Michael finishes "Not dead". Just damn cool.

Sully, catch the full episode sometime before next week, USA shows the latest episode quite often. It's good.

I had to watch the 1 am showing of it, but it didn't take away how great that episode was. Michael's escape from that explosion was just epic.

Well I just got a text message from Burn Notice's twitter, giving me a link to the full episode, so I'll watch it online, but I'm sure I'll just have to catch it before next weeks epi anyways ;).

I'm actually pretty glad that they're having it both in one night. They are probably doing it to get it finished before Christmas, but it works for me, because I'll be at the Carolina vs. Steelers game that night. I may have already said that though. It's probably going to be cold as shit too.

When they mentioned the husband was dead early in, I wondered how they were going to fill the ep... Not disappointed.

I just gotta wonder what they'll do now, with all the talk of Jesse & Michael getting back in the government stuff. I'd say once they do that, there's no show.

Michael won't go back. Like you said, there'd be no show.

An idea just hit me: What if the government guy(s) say it's an "all or nothing" deal, leading Michael to refuse to go back, & therefore, Jesse doesn't get taken back?

Then, you've got a new enemy for Michael who was once a "friend". (This show seems to rely on those a lot.)

I don't think they'd play that card twice. Besides, Burn Notice doesn't seem to be a fan of long-term antagonists. Even in Season 2 with Carla, Michael works for her as much as he works against her.

I don't think it really is playing it twice. This whole season it seems has been about him trying to help Jesse in return for accidentally burning him.... Which, as I recall, was part of his work to get his own job back. Meeting together to get their jobs back, & costing him that job within the meeting is a whole new reason to hate him.

I don't even remember Carla.

She was Michael's handler the entire second season. Mildly attractive blonde.

Yeah, but this is the problem you potentially turn into when you bring back old characters; The audience should remember at least something about them.

I'm not talking about bringing her back. She's dead.

What I'm saying is that Burn Notice doesn't seem to be a fan of long-term antagonist characters.

It has seemed otherwise to me. (I seem to recall an episode this month where a character had 2 descriptions under them, first describing what they were before, & then now.) I've read casting notes on other sites that make me think we'll be seeing more returning characters.

...Besides, all you need to do is look at Jesse to know that his enemy later isn't necessarily someone who was an enemy before, & things like that.

Yeah, they've had recurring characters. Like next week's bad guy, Brennan, for example. But they haven't had one bad guy for an entire season, appearing every episode as the bad guy.

I know. I don't think they could have the same bad guy week after week. (I can't recall a show that lives on that.) But I see no problem with a "case of the week", while also working against one basic enemy (which in the new idea I considered would maybe be Jesse). Heck, the show seems to do that now.

How about a Burn Notice Spin-off? After another season or two, have Jesse get back into the spy job, and he could have his own show, doing spy-like missions. The down side would be Jesse not being a part of the show anymore, but maybe every once and a while there could be cross overs with characters, and Jesse could make special appearances. It's just a thought, not expecting anything.

Jesse's not interesting enough to be a spin-off. Not to mention, not a good enough actor.

That's all very true. Maybe after a few more seasons he'll develop more skill in his acting and character development. I'm hoping they'll be able to keep Burn Notice for me seasons. I know they've already signed for a season 5 and 6, but beyond that isn't clinched yet. I don't doubt the writers of Burn Notice to keep this story going, but eventually somethings got to give. I hoping for at least a 10th season.

Completely agreed. Donovans the only actor that has any real star power. The rest are nice supporting characters, but none could support a show on their own.
