What is BTW?
BTW aka Big Top Wrestling is a casual wrestling e-fed of my own invention where the business starts off as a small fledgling company that works within a carnival theme. The floors are made of sawdust, the seats are bleachers, and the ceiling is a tarp that breaks now and again. The owner is named Lars Bookman, a plucky visionary that can make diamonds out of coals as he scouts out the most diverse talent ever placed inside of a wrestling ring.
So far, gimmicks range from the comical (a James Franco Look-Alike) to the macabre (Exploitation Film Fanatic). A former WZCW wrestler sets out to make a name for herself in BTW and so does an indy darling not even old enough to buy a beer. I pride myself in coming up with creative characters that some readers may never see in a real wrestling ring. That's what makes BTW special for me- not only are readers seeing a company fight for its place on the circuit, they're seeing it done with superstars they aren't used to seeing in such a position.
The Road So Far
This is a recap from the last episodes and couple of end posts. The first show (BTW: Grand Opening) was in honor of Carny Legend Brick Mason, a veteran that never got his time to shine on camera. This bothered him on a level never known by his old friend Lars Bookman, and so Brick interfered with the title match between Grindhouse and The Marquee and took the new championship for his own. This brought interest to BTW, and Bookman could not ignore the possibility of having his brainchild get more exposure. Therefore he demanded Brick Mason to defend the title against The Marquee (BTW: New Frontier), who arguably came close to making the monster tap out.
A new problem reared its ugly head. Aquarius, a New Age Hippie with an authority problem, had taken it upon herself to try to kill BTW from the inside. She preached on the evils of the company, and on how it caused pollution and stress upon the wildlife in the area. A good cause turned into ash in her hands as she did everything to become a thorn in Bookman's side, so much so that he put her in a stipulation where if she lost, her time with Big Top Wrestling was over. Lexi Hayes, The Southern Belle from WZCW, defeated her at New Frontier. But that didn't stop the revolutionary. She enlisted the help of Los Sangria Diablos, a luchador tag team with a penchant for Computer Science. Together they tore through the tarp of the Big Top Tent, stole the BTW Championship Belt, and erased what history there was online of BTW: House of Hard Knocks. House of Hard Knocks was to be a huge step for the company that would have drawn in new revenue and a better income for the participants, but most of the attention was from the internet like sites such as Wrestlezone.com.
Unknown to the public, HOHK saw a devastating number of injuries. Some wrestlers will not be coming back after that night. But BTW seeks to rebuild itself and promote an upcoming show, but with reality setting in on Bookman's employees, the time has grown dire and it is a long road of hope.
I play myself in this story. Spidey. I've put myself in a color commentator's position, and sometimes I'll include an odd guest like James Franco or Gordon Ramsay just for shits and giggles. I tend to try and keep things light-hearted, but with the story progressing to damn near dystopic, the jokes will be few and far between until our good guys gain the upperhand.
When will the next show be up?
Great question. Not anytime soon. I underlined "casual" in the beginning sentence up there because this is what BTW is for me. A bit of fun. I'm not getting paid, and I don't know if there's that many on this site who are all that interested in my story. Please, drop me a message or two if you are. I like feedback. Another thing is I am on Creative over on WZCW now and I barely have time RPing as my character over there, let alone writing matches, segments, etc for that bigtime company. This is more of a "if I feel like it" kind of write.
Please don't be discouraged in thinking I won't be updating BTW though. Even though this is a casual thing, I am very fond of writing for a fed that I have complete control of. To me, this is my baby. I have written a fan-fic here as well as a thread on my poems, but this is what I hope members will like the most when talking about The Writing Gallery. The Gallery to me is the perfect subforum to write your bullshit on. I'd love to see more created feds. Maybe a great short story or two. This is the place for that kinda thing. I get excited just typing in it. So of course BTW isn't dead nor will I ever kill it until I say it's killed.
