Getting Noticed By Management
New Orleans Pelicans shooting guard Bryce DeJean-Jones has died at the age of 23, the Dallas (Texas) County Medical Examiner confirmed to SI.com.

A spokesperson declined to provide details on the cause of death, but Shams Charania of The Vertical reports that DeJean-Jones died of a gun shot to the abdomen on Friday. He reportedly bled to death.

The news of Dejean-Jones’s death was first reported by the Ames Tribune.

DeJean-Jones, who was a rookie last season, played college basketball at Iowa State. He went undrafted and played in the D–League before debuting with the Pelicans in January.

DeJean-Jones had signed a three–year contract earlier this year with New Orleans.

This is just so sad. He was by no means a complete NBA player, but he appeared to possess the disposition, effort and skills to turn into something. He worked his tail to get where he was from undrafted to the D-League and then to starting some games, and I was really impressed with this kid when I first saw him play. Despite being a rookie, he played more like a 3-year veteran. He was someone who was just getting his career started and going on his way to doing some big things in NBA and had true potential.

RIP

Just heard about this, a tragic situation all around. New information has come out stating that he was shot to death trying to break into an apartment building, however there are also multiple reports saying that Jones was at the wrong room and thought it was his son's mothers apartment. Apparently he was banging on the door and kicked it open, when he entered the person's bedroom he was shot in the chest. I'm not going to comment on the situation as I have no clue what was really happening. But if he did have the wrong room, why was he attempting to kick down his ex girlfriend's door? I do believe that it was probably a mistake as there's really no need for him to steal petty items considering he's would have been making close to a mil in the coming year, but as I said, it's all murky.

Maybe as a Canadian I'm biased, but people in America need to stop shooting other people for literally everything. I mean, what the hell's wrong with a baseball bat? Works just fine in every other developed nation in the world. At least in that situation you're not murdering somebody before even talking to them. Not a knock on America or anything, it just seems like a lot of citizens have become drastically desensitized to guns, almost like they're toys, and that's a scary thing.
