Brock Lesnar VS Bill Goldberg: Underrated

This MATCH IS UNDERRATED its seems more crappier than it actually is due to the fans watch the match again and you will see that this match was underrated and there was nothing Brock or Bill could do about it because whatever they did they would have gotten booed.

Imo, the fans acted the way they should have. The 2 were leaving with alot of negativity around them. I don't see how that match could be considered underrated. To me it looked liked they decided 2 half-ass the match. They figured since they were leaving why put on a great match or risk an injury. The match (and i use that term loosely) was simply a 'let's just get all our signature spots in and get the hell out of here" match. It felt like they intended it to be their final f u to the WWE and its fans.

I'm sorry but you're assuming that the crowd would be unappreciative if they had put on a match worthy of the hype that it was promoted with.

This match was horrible, I fell asleep while they were looking at each other and missed the rest of the ppv :banghead:

I can agree with that since they both left. I never thought of it like that. It was a big hype and they should fought harder then that. Especially Goldberg since he claim he came back 4 the fans.

You just can't blame the fans for don't make this a better match, you just CAN'T. The wrestler is supposed to draw the reactions and to create emotions. Neither Lesnar or Goldberg did. Worst match ever.

I fucking love this match. It's so incredibly bad that it's good, one of the most entertaining matches I've seen out of the WWE in years. It's like watching a train crash, or a baby fight a cat. You know you should look away or try to stop it, but you just can't, it's just too entertaining.

There are far worse matches. You guys must not have seen many Jimmy Valiant matches.

I need to watch this match again. I remember the long stare down and lock-up sequence at the start, and remember thinking how strange it was. I chalked it up to trying to show how evenly matched they were supposed to be. After the match started I enjoyed it, but I'm a big Goldberg fan, as one can tell from my screen name. I'm just gonna play devils advocate here. I'm gonna call it not underrated, but I think if one really thinks about it, the blame for the match not being BETTER really lies on one man's shoulder's: Brock Lesnar. I'm sure I'll catch hell for saying that but hear me out. Looking at Goldberg, say what you will about the man, but he's a very gifted athlete. You may not enjoy his in ring style, but not many men his size can move the way he does and he can put on a good match. And I really do think he cares about the fans. So maybe he was out to make a buck, but lets face it, he could have done that any other way. By that point he was recognizable enough to try movies or tv, and probably be successful enough in those ventures to make a great amount of money. Did he? No, he chose wrestling. Love him or hate, he chose to try to entertain us over a much safer avenue to attain his cashflow. And let's face it, no wrestler does what they do just for the fans. The almighty dollar drives us all, so they are no different. It's also known he was very displeased with the way he was booked and had issues with Vince, so why wouldn't he leave when his time was up? Now let's look at Brock, WHO WAS LEAVING TO GO TO THE NFL TO START A NEW CAREER!!!!!! Now, if anyone had a reason to phone in their performance, who would you pick? The guy who had been in the business and came back for the fans(believe what you will, I've made my case for this)and a man who seems to be a decent human being(check his humanitarian cred), or the guy who had been pushed to the moon, but decided to turn his back on the biz and could risk his new career by getting hurt in his last event? Isn't it in the realm of possibility that Goldberg could have wanted that great send-off, but couldn't get Brock to cooperate? Like I said, I need to watch it again, but if memory serves me, Bill seemed to be the more agggressive and Impressive of the two. I COULD be wrong, but it's possible. If Brock wanted to play it safe(I've seen him fight and believe this with all my heart) the combined efforts of Goldberg and Austin couldn't have forced him to do anything he didn't want to. Just think about it. But the match is what it is. I don't think it's over or underrated. I happened to have enjoyed it though.

Goldberg was always, ALWAYS, overrated. To say any match of his was underrated is a joke, in my opinion. Now Lesnar, I liked, and still do as a MMA fighter. I never wanted to see Goldberg in WWE and when he showed up on WWE I wished nothing more for them to just job his ass to every single midcarder on the roster. I wanted them to do a reverse winning streak if you will. I didn't want him to ever win a single match and never main event a single PPV. The fact he was on Wrestlemania in the first place I was upset. Then I heard it was his last match and he was still on the card? Come on, when two of the guys you claim to be top superstars are leaving the company the next night, you don't put them on the biggest stage.

When I heard Lesnar was leaving also it made me loathe the match that much more. I would never consider this match underrated. I got the reaction it deserved. Hell like someone said already, they should have had trash thrown all over them.

Lots of guys his size can move like him, hell actually better than him. Lesnar, Taker, Mike Awesome, Kane. Goldberg was boring. He shouldn't have been in WWE. I never seen anything special in that guy. His winning streak was what made him. Not his skills in the ring, not his skills on the mic, it was the creative team coming up with the winning streak that made him. That and the fact that people thought he looked like Stone Cold.

Sorry but I'm not buying for a second that Goldberg came back because he cared about the fans. If that was the case he would have been more than a one year rental. Goldberg came back to get paid. Also so he could remain relevent in the entertainment industry. He hadn't been in wrestling in four years and he wanted to keep is stock up and not be forgotten. He had a certain amount of dates in his contract and he fulfilled all those dates except one about a month before WrestleMania. Of course the one final date was WrestleMania. Even though he fulfilled his dates he could have at least appeared on raw to hype his match against Lesnar. Sure he was within his rights to stay home, but if he truly cared about the fans he would have shown up. He and Lesnar actually have a lot in common. They were both major stars for about two years in the wrestling business, but neither one of them gave a damn about it.

Are you kidding me? With the exception of Lesnar, and I'm a huge Undertaker fan so this hurts, none of those guys in my humble opinion come anywhere close to Goldberg's level of athleticism. If you look at Goldberg objectively and not just with preconcieved notions about the man because A) You don't like his in-ring style B) Question his motivation or love of the business or C) Just simply don't like the guy, he has a great deal of athletic ability. I've never seen any of those guys cut a back flip in the ring. Or come anywhere near as close to something like a jackhammer on Big Show (Lesnar not withstanding). I know his ring style isn't popular, but for a POWER based performer, the guy was fairly impressive. And lets face it, his mic work wasn't stellar, but it was nowhere near crippling.

I'm not saying he wasn't wanting a payday. Wouldn't you? All I'm saying is he didn't HAVE to enter WWE at the time. The man has said repeatedly how much he appreciates the fans and what the biz allowed him to become. And a one year contract isn't exactly short term. If you were as big a name as he was, and was booked in a manner you didn't like and had such a huge issue with your boss, I don't think you would be eager to renew or extend your contract. I do however agree he should have been at the pre-Mania Raw. Even if by that time his mind was made up and he'd had enough, it would have at the very least helped build the match a bit more.

The only good thing about that match was the press slam to spinebuster that goldberd did to lesnar. Besides that move, worst match ever...ever!

I'm going to say that the crowd was the only reason that match was worth watching, the build up was incredible, it had the feel of one of the biggest matches to grace Mania, and it was a legitimate dream match to some.

Now for the argument that the crowd ruined the match, here is a simple solution. Put your TV on mute and watch the match again.

Hardly a classic is it?

Just seeing them in the ring was awesome. Just a shame the match kinda fell flat. The first 5 minutes are so where they just locked up and stared down was awful and everyone wanted Austin to just whip ass on both of them. The match is overrated, but the potential of the match was highly overlooked and not booked properly. Shame too, but it made sense since they were both leaving the company anyway.

You could mute the fucking match and it was still garbage. Neither one of them cared about the match they were supposed to work, it was obvious. Stone Cold should have beat the fuck out of them and dragged them around with his ATV. Brock Lesnar was just a ******** and couldn't take the heat he was getting from walking away from his loyal fanbase, Goldberg just wanted that paycheck he was getting for doing a big Wrestlemania match. It was the standard big guy vs big guy match. Hard hit there, power move there, finisher here, kick out there. These two could have put on a better match probably a year or two before when they actually gave 2 shits about the business or the fans.
