I need to watch this match again. I remember the long stare down and lock-up sequence at the start, and remember thinking how strange it was. I chalked it up to trying to show how evenly matched they were supposed to be. After the match started I enjoyed it, but I'm a big Goldberg fan, as one can tell from my screen name. I'm just gonna play devils advocate here. I'm gonna call it not underrated, but I think if one really thinks about it, the blame for the match not being BETTER really lies on one man's shoulder's: Brock Lesnar. I'm sure I'll catch hell for saying that but hear me out. Looking at Goldberg, say what you will about the man, but he's a very gifted athlete. You may not enjoy his in ring style, but not many men his size can move the way he does and he can put on a good match. And I really do think he cares about the fans. So maybe he was out to make a buck, but lets face it, he could have done that any other way. By that point he was recognizable enough to try movies or tv, and probably be successful enough in those ventures to make a great amount of money. Did he? No, he chose wrestling. Love him or hate, he chose to try to entertain us over a much safer avenue to attain his cashflow. And let's face it, no wrestler does what they do just for the fans. The almighty dollar drives us all, so they are no different. It's also known he was very displeased with the way he was booked and had issues with Vince, so why wouldn't he leave when his time was up? Now let's look at Brock, WHO WAS LEAVING TO GO TO THE NFL TO START A NEW CAREER!!!!!! Now, if anyone had a reason to phone in their performance, who would you pick? The guy who had been in the business and came back for the fans(believe what you will, I've made my case for this)and a man who seems to be a decent human being(check his humanitarian cred), or the guy who had been pushed to the moon, but decided to turn his back on the biz and could risk his new career by getting hurt in his last event? Isn't it in the realm of possibility that Goldberg could have wanted that great send-off, but couldn't get Brock to cooperate? Like I said, I need to watch it again, but if memory serves me, Bill seemed to be the more agggressive and Impressive of the two. I COULD be wrong, but it's possible. If Brock wanted to play it safe(I've seen him fight and believe this with all my heart) the combined efforts of Goldberg and Austin couldn't have forced him to do anything he didn't want to. Just think about it. But the match is what it is. I don't think it's over or underrated. I happened to have enjoyed it though.
