Bring Back the World X Cup?

Hey, this is the first post I've started and hope it's not breaking any of the forum rules.

I always enjoyed the World X Cup matches but beyond the fun in seeing guys from Japan, Mexico etc. who I wouldn't get to see otherwise I think it can serve a good purpose to push people.

Team Canada used to get great heel heat. It'd be pretty simple to bring in someone like Scott D'Amore again to garner heat then pit some of the regular TNA guys against them to get them over. It could also be a good way to reintroduce Hernandez in a face/heel Team Mexico depending on which route they wanted to go with him.

Another reason I enjoyed the X Cup is that it represented collaboration rather than competition between companies which is refreshing to see. What do you guys think? Does the World X Cup fit into Bischoff/Hogan's TNA and would you like to see it make a return?

I was always a huge fan of the World X Cup, so I'd be all about it. If it weren't for the World X, we'd never have gotten that early glimpse of Doug(las) Williams. That much I know for certain.

I'm sure people will say it doesn't fit the Bischoff/Hogan mold, and perhaps it doesn't, but frankly I consider them mutually exclusive, as the World X was generally a few qualifying matches on iMPACT! that lead to the actual Cup match at a PPV — often Destination X. I don't see why it can't return. No better way to showcase international talent, frankly.

Does the World X Cup fit into Bischoff/Hogan's TNA

No, but in a few months when "worked shoots" and "getting real" have failed to move ratings past the 1.0-1.2 range or improve PPV buyrates, Bischoff and Hogan will be desperate to try something else, and reviving the X Division is as likely a straw to grasp at as any.

The World X Cup would be a good way to reinvigorate the X Division. Introduce some new stars from Mexico, maybe bring back Petey Williams and Sonjay Dutt, maybe recruit some Japanese junior heavyweights, and put a spotlight on a few TNA X Division guys as Team TNA or Team USA.

I definitely don't see it as a possibility in the current landscape of TNA. I don't see it happening at all under Russo or Hogan, Bischoff. All you have to do is look at how TNA's used the X division in the past few years, and certainly how they're using it right now with a champion from some lame Jershey Shore gimmick to understand this ideas not going to happen.

That being said, I would love World X Cup to return. I use to love the old TNA when the X division was thriving, when Team Canada was around, and when they had the World X Cup and just international competitions regularly. I really miss those aspects and I think it's a really unfortunate thing that's been abandoned by TNA. It was different, it was unique, and it was just great to watch.

Yeah, I've got to go with consensus here. It probably just doesn't fit the current landscape of TNA these days. I enjoyed the World X Cup as it gave an opportunity to see other wrestlers from different companies around the world that I'd probably never get to see.

The World X Cup is so closely associated with the X-Division that I think its return might just herald the X-Division becoming a force again. I'd like to see it happen, but it probably won't.

I would love to see the return of the World X Cup. I agree with Jack-Hammer, It might help the X Divison become a force in TNA once again. What I would love to see happen if it dose come back, is the Final being the main event of Destination X.

I've spoken about this a few times in some of my other posts. It won't be coming back any time soon. I've even thought about make a post in EY left TNA thread but didn't had time to. I then few days later EY resign a new contract already which kind of suck in a way.

I was thinking that Eric Young leaves TNA for a few months come back around before or after TNA Against All Odds 2011 but he's not alone. He comes back out in the Team Canada attire with Scott D'Amore and possible with Petey Williams and Johnny Devine or Teddy Hart or someone thats good suit for Team Canada. They come back bragging about how their talents are better and demanding to bring back the World X Cup. Which will also bring some TNA Team members come back to talk back to them like Team TNA Jerry Lynn (Captain), Chris Sabin, Elix Skipper, Christopher Daniels, Jay Lethal, Alex Shelley, Kaz, and/or Amazing Red.

Also it got me thinking that this might be a good thing for Bobby Roode take over being a captain spot for his team leaving James Storm which result into no more beer money. I dunno if thats a good thing or not. This time around instead of a 4 man team its a 5 man team which leads to the team that win will get a title shot or opportunity for the every title on TV or the following PPV. On a side not the winning team can also suggest a certain Knockout of their country a shot at the Knockout Title that would be interesting.

By this time they can get video or something from Team Japan or Mexico making a statement as well the following week. Then slowly the team really slowly building up to for each side this is what I am thinking about. World X Cup should end at Destination X. Hopefully by this time their will be no more Robbie E just saying.!!

Just team up British wrestlers if possible or anyone that didn't get picked up from either team can be a face or heel.

I know this is a lot of people but adding a few more teams instead of four or maybe more depends who you can actually get. If you are doing more then four teams then you made need to start a month in advance so by the time Destination X rolls around we be done to the last remaining teams.

You can have tons a matches of course winning team get points. I think thats why Xplosion should be a better TV deal so TNA can use this show aswell as Impact to promote the matches. The first match can start of with battle royal then into your single and tag team wrestlers. After a team loses so much they get kicked off. Sooner you get a point system going easier you will know how many matches you need to let it get come done to the final teams.

The members of the team can only be pick from TNA Roster, Free Agents, and Retired Wrestlers.

I know this is a lot info to look at it but if you careful examine what I got. TNA can make some here with some of these talents that have or never been in TNA. Some of these guys can't wrestler anymore or little too old but also their tons of young talents to pick from. Especially for team USA. Heck it was hard enough just pick five but if I had to go down to just four members you know how many people get left off. Plus if you can use some of WWE Wrestlers now thats be hard to pick who should make the team.

TNA rather waste money on older heavyweight guys that is all about the money and can barely wrestle then you know their is tons foreigners around the world that should be in TNA. TNA is about the youth but so many get left behind. Also the problem is TNA writers because they don't know how to use people most of the time.

Rules: The competition is divided into three rounds. (It could be more!)

In Round One, there are two tag team matches. The two winning teams get two points apiece.
In Round Two, there are two singles matches. The winners get three points for their respective teams.
In Round Three, there will be a gauntlet involving all 16 wrestlers. The last two remaining wrestlers receive two points apiece for their respective teams. The winner gets an additional three points for his team. If the final two are on the same team, then they will automatically receive all seven points, and thus win the tournament.
In the event of a tie, the captains of the two teams will compete in a singles match in order to determine the champion.

Round One (Tag Team Matches) - 1 Point, Round Two (Single Matches) - 2 Points, Round Three (Elimination Tag) - 3 Points, and Round Four (Ultimate X match) - 4 Points

Matches for the tournaments:

Single Match - 2 Points
Tag Team Match - 1 Point
Six Man Tag Team Match - 3 Points
Eight Man Tag Team Match - 3 Points
Ten Man Tag Team Match - 3 Points
Ultimate X Match - 4 Points
Ladder Match - 4 Points
Battle Royal/Gauntlet Match - 4 Points
Title Matches

Some of my teams won't happen probably but just wanted you guys some tips or ideas what TNA is missing out. As I said before the winning team gets title matches. Even if you don't use the people that are holding titles during this tournament. After its over whichever team wins you already got another storyline in place. Maybe the team can use their title shots like Moneny in the Bank or Feast or Fire thing so just in case a title holder is in a feud/storyline at the moment you have another waiting in the wings. I'm talking about every title that's what I decided to go with a five man team instead of four so that way everyone on the team gets a title shot no matter what. That team can bring in a Knockout or pick one of their country or team to go for the Knockout Title.

Thoughts.!

Who would be on what team if you got to choose?

[PS What about bring back America's X Cup or Super X Cup tournament? If TNA doesn't do this sometime next year. Why not let Wrestlezone do a tournament like the World X Cup.?!]

Main Event World Title Match: ?? vs ??

7th Secondary Title Match: ?? VS ?? VS ??

6th Tag Team Title Match: ?? vs ?? Vs ?? vs ??

5th Cruiserweight/Lightheavyweight/X Division Title Match: ?? vs ?? Vs ?? vs ?? vs ??

4th King of the Mountain Match*: ?? vs ?? Vs ?? vs ?? vs ?? vs ?? (winner get a World Title Match*)

3rd Ladder Match: ?? vs ?? Vs ?? vs ?? vs ?? vs ?? vs ?? (winner get a Secondary Title Match*)

2nd Ultimate X Match: ?? vs ?? Vs ?? vs ?? vs ?? vs ?? vs ?? vs ?? (winner get a Cruiserweight/Lightheavyweight/X Division Title Match*)

1st 32 Battle Royal Match: (winner get a Tag Team Title Match with is partner of choice from his own team*)
[6 different teams with 3 members of choice but can't compete in any other match though]

Also if we need a pre-match stipulation or something we could do a 3 vs 3 Match or 4 vs 4 or 5 vs 5 match. If we do that then the Battle royal would be out or add more members to the team.

I found the World X Cup matches to be pretty interesting, but I don't see it coming back because TNA's roster is already clogged up enough as it is with a lot of guys not getting any time onscreen. Why make that problem even worse by letting a bunch of guys from outside the federation onscreen just for a return of the World X Cup? I enjoyed it too but it would not be a good idea right now. I also highly doubt it would fit in with Bischoff and Hogan's current ideas for the product. Some day it should come back though, as I agree that it's a good way to introduce the casual fan to guys from federations in other countries.
