Breaking News: Florida Fedral Judge Delcares Obamacare Unconstitutional!

This has been done. We know this already and there have been a bunch of judges that say it's constitutional.

I can't wait to see the GOP brag about this while the people are quickly loving the changes that are coming from this.

I, for one, am glad. How dare we pass something to help bring health care to everyone and potentially drive the over-inflated costs down!? It's madness and anarchy, I tell you.

It's bullshit. They're taking more money from the rich and giving to the poor.

I don't bust my ass working 45 hours a week to pay for someone ELSE'S healthcare! Fuck that.

Breaking news...the constitution is 200 years old. Seriously move with the times.

Breaking News: We have to pay taxes anyway, they might as well go to something useful instead of Bridges To Nowhere.

Breaking News: Our government is generally full of fucktards who are only in it for themselves and not the people!

Oh wait, that is old hat.

The bill was awesome up until the part where it was mandated. As long as the bill stays in tact with those courts ruling the mandate only as unconstitutional, I'm cool with it, at least for now. It's not nearly as good as it should be, though.

Douglas Douglas Douglas. Have you ever heard a british person say something is not constitutional regarding our alleged one? Exactly.

This is not news. Mandating Citizens to buy something was going to get slapped with unconstitutional the second it was signed.

Health care reform was needed, but forcing people to have it was never going to fly.

Yeah, I mean what's next? Education for all? Where will the madness stop?!

It's called "society" and even Chimpanzees are capable of it.

Alpha apes will get rid of the weak and those that don't contribute.

I won't speak for D-Man, but I'm sure he doesn't mind helping those that need it. I'm opposed to helping those that make no effort to get off gov't assistance.

States already force drivers to get car insurance, just throwing it out there.

And the Florida judge is just trying to start a game of "Whose is Bigger" with Obama and other justices. His declaring it illegal is really not going to stop Obama from continuing to put it into effect.

In order to drive you have to have car insurance. You are making a choice to get a driver's license and a car. That's the big difference.

Government is still forcing you to buy insurance. They don't force you to buy homeowner's insurance once you buy a house (as far as I know, I've never bought a house). I'm just saying it's not totally unheard of.

Also, Lee makes a great point. Our Founding Father's would probably point and laugh at us for still following a document they wrote up in 1787. The amendments have done their job, but they lived in a radically different world then. Things like net-neutrality and insurance laws were not things they concerned themselves with (for obvious reasons) and we need to stop looking to an ancient document to answer all our questions. Accidental shot at religion. Whoops.

Also if you get caught driving without insurance, you're fined etc. If you get caught without insurance while living, you're not penalized.

I agree with the 2nd half. Change comes, but it's the type of change that people butt heads on. That's simple politics.

On the insurance part, it's still on something that you are making a conscious decision of purchasing. You don't have to drive a car, it's your choice (I know that our nation is built on self transportation, but let's skip that until we actually build a decent public transport system).

As far as I know, most banks before giving a loan will force you to have home owners insurance. This is simply to cover their own ass in case of you burning your house down. The gov't requires car insurance simply to make sure you are covered in case of an accident. I'm pretty sure there was a growing number of hit/skip accidents that ultimately lead to that decision.

Again though, driving a car is a privilege, not a right. You make a choice to drive a car, therefore, you have to meet the prerequisites set by your state.

This is the gray area I am unfamiliar with. One thing I read says you get fined, others don't. I don't understand how you can force someone to have insurance, but not fine them.

You make the choice to drive a car, and therefore car insurance. So it's not forced on you the same way health insurance is. You shouldn't have to pay simply for being alive.

You said this in the last thread about health care too. Can you elaborate on this? If you're not penalized for not having health insurance, then what is the mandate?
