BREAKING NEWS: Crimson out of BFG Series

D-Man

Gone but never forgotten.
According to Facebook:

UPDATE: Officials learned on Thursday afternoon that Crimson will be unable to continue in the Bound For Glory Series due to injuries he suffered from Samoa Joe. Tune into IMPACT WRESTLING at 9/8c on SpikeTV for the full update on his condition!

Is there any truth to this? There must be, since it came directly from the Impact Wrestling Facebook account with a link to the Impact Wrestling homepage with a clip on the story.

I didn't think they would go this far with the storyline, since Crimson has been so dominant, as of late. Where is all of this going to go now?

Discuss here.

I have a very bad feeling this is leading up to Joe somehow taking one of the spots in the series final, thereby making the whole thing totally pointless after the last few months. He only has to crack the top four and he's gotten rid of D-Von, Crimson, Pope and Morgan is already out. With Storm possibly being legit hurt, I could see this happening. If so, I'd be very, very mad at TNA.

As for Crimson, this frees him up to do something else at BFG, which is good for him. He doesn't need to be out there having the world title match because he's not ready for it yet at all. Hopefully they'll put him with Joe or something but he does not need to be in the main event yet and this is a way to avoid having to do that.

This was already discussed in another thread, I forget which one, but I'll repeat my thoughts here.

Personally, I call bullshit. Just because something is posted on Facebook by no means makes it "take to the bank" correct. I smell a swerve. I see this "news" leading up to a match between Joe and Crimson at No Surrender. I see Crimson winning this match and receiving a beat down afterwards. I still see Crimson somehow emerging from the BFG series victorious, and facing Kurt Angle at BFG (unless Angle is to busy preparing for a UFC debut ;)). I see Crimson losing a hard fought battle to Angle here, likely due to interference from Joe again. Crimson sees his undefeated streak ending without looking weak in the process. Angle keeps his belt. And Joe remains on the fringe of relevance.

Then again, what do I know? Maybe they'll just go with a nostalgia filled BFG main event featuring a couple of aging superstars, while Angle defends against someone like Robert Roode. Or of course, they could somehow fast track a returning Jeff Hardy (as a face) into a title match with a heel Angle, that has a Russo-esque feel to it as well.

I smell.....cattle prod to defeat his streak  Actually...it would suck balls if he has to sit out...but--what about the story awhile back where the WWE was interested in Joe? Does that hold any water? I REALLY hope Joe's not going to be the culprit to a) end his streak and b) FINALLY get involved in something and get some face time. I love Joe...and I think he's been VERY patient sitting on the back burner on things, but they need to get him involved in SOMETHING (and first...decide if he's going to be face or heel...he seems to change every other month )...but...if he does end his streak and then now the whole Crimson / Joe story takes another path and takes Crimson out of the running for the BFG series...well....then it would be standard booking for TNA. :banghead:

I really hope that they are not trying to catapult Joe to the main event of BFG.

Honestly, I mean, we've seen that match a few times already, and it was pretty good in 2006, but Joe just doesn't keep most people's attention these days.

I've been looking forward to BFG for a while, now, but if they just completely ruin the BFG series, which I've really enjoyed, by making it pointless, and rehashing a 5 year old storyline, I'll be incredibly bored with the prospects of BFG.

Say what you want about Crimson, but Crimson/Angle on Impact blew the roof off of the joint.

It makes perfect since to do this. Crimson is in no way ready to Main Event TNA's biggest show of the year. They used the BFG series to put him over, which had relative success depending on your standards. He's definitely in a better place now than he was when it started, so overall you have to say it went well.

We may never know because of Morgan's injury, but I think this has always been leading up to one man... ROBERT ROODE. Beer Money didn't drop the tag titles for nothing. Roode is the complete package and, overall, is the superior talent among TNA's "homegrown" talent. I know the AJ fans will go off on that, but you can't deny that Roode's mix of ring work AND mic work is top notch.

If it wasn't going to be Roode, then I think it was going to be Morgan who got the push. But while the injury bug has been an issue (the real ones to guys like Morgan and Storm, not the storyline injuries via Samoa Joe), there's nothing about Roode winning this thing and going on to face Angle that will feel wrong. IMO, it should have happened month ago when he cut that awesome promo on Hogan. This guy's BEEN ready.

TNA has already announce as part of the preview for tonight's show that Gunner vs. RVD will determine the last spot in the Final Four, with Ray, Roode, and Storm already in the match. You can almost guarantee that something will happen with Jerry Lynn and RVD will lose, so Gunner will advance. How they address Storm's injury we don't know, but the smart move would be to just make it a virtual handicap as the two Immortal guys take on Roode. What better way to launch him toward the World Title?

Personally, I'm fine with this under a couple of conditions.

The main reason I'm fine with it is that I'm still not sold on Crimson, especially not in the main event of the biggest PPV of the year. It would be quite a risk to throw him out there in that capacity, and I'd have to wonder how guys that have been with the company much longer would feel about this guy main eventing over them.

That said, this is a good solution FOR HIM. I'm with KB in thinking that having Joe lose to everyone, then beat up everyone to get in the final makes no sense and essentially bastardizes the whole tournament. I was afraid from the beginning that TNA might do something to make the whole tournament irrelevant. Originally, I thought it might be another swerve in the main event at BFG which would cause the BFG series winner to lose after months of hard work, but this could be just as bad. Thing is, I like Joe a lot, but this is not the way to get him back to the top. You can't ruin this tournament because it actually has the potential to elevate a new star.

At this point, the only GOOD solution is this: even if Joe gets in the final (which he shouldn't), he loses to Bobby Roode. Roode goes on to beat Angle at BFG and a new champion, a deserving champion, is crowned. He's about the only viable person left that people might care about if he won. If this isn't what happens, expect a lot of pissed off people.

This move makes Perfect sense I am a Huge Crimson fan and I don't even think he should be in BFG Main Event with Angle but I still think he will have a pretty big role on BFG.

I also highly doubt that Samoa Joe will make his way into the top 4 of the Series TNA is advertising the winner of RVD Gunner as being the final person and Joe would have to injure Steiner, Styles, RVD,and Gunner in one night which is highly unlikely. The finial will be Ray, Storm, Rhoode and Gunner, RVD won't make it because Lynn will cost him another match. Out of these 4 guys Rhoode is the best option to win the Series and go on to face Angle at BFG for the World Title.

I've also got no real problem with this move. I'm not at all sold on Crimson and he's most definitely not ready for the main event spot, especially main eventing the WHC match at TNA's biggest ppv of the year.

His time in the BFG Series has been beneficial in the sense that it's gotten him some wins over some big names in TNA. None of the BFG Series matches I've seen from him, or anyone on TNA television for that matter, have been particularly memorable, but he's still gotten some solid wins in the series. Taking him out of the series leaves his "undefeated streak" in tact and frees him up to do something that's more in line with where he's currently ready for.

I also agree with the Samoa Joe analogy. If they wind up having Joe substitute for Crimson in the BFG Series, then it render much of the tournament itself and what it's supposed to be about all but invalid. Joe's spent months jobbing out in the series so keep him out of it altogether now that we're getting close to the endgame of this.

I agree with Rasha also in that I'd be tickled to see Robert Roode be the one to go over in the series. He's ready, he's been ready for a long while and the guy's not getting any younger. He's just 35 and far from an old man but he's getting into an age range where something has got to happen to elevate him really before its too late. Beer Money is no longer the tag champs, they've done as much as they can possibly do in TNA and I just think it's time for both Roode & Storm to move on. They're too talented to waste in tag team stagnation at this point in their careers.

Seriously your asking if this is legit???

Crimson's green and TNA having him in their biggest PPV of the year's main event isn't going to happen.
Use some common sense. TNA pushed the guy hard but he's not at that level for BFG, but since Crimson was leading the series TNA can continue to build him up nicely and when he's ready allow him to cash his chips in and face the Champion at Slammaversary or whatever the PPV is called.

Hmm.

I figured Crimson would be a lock for the No Surrender four way match and Joe would end up turning heel after snapping and destroying people because of his losing streak.

Having not seen last sunday's Impact Wrestling (3 days after the US FTW!!), I can't comment further but things have got interesting if it's legit (which I have my doubts)

This injury angle keeps Crimson out of the main event at BFG which I think most of us can agree that he was not quite ready yet, but allows him to keep is undefeated streak alive and allows him to continue to dominate until he is ready for a title match
