Brand New King of the Mountain Chamionship on the Line at Slammiversary

It's Damn Real!

The undisputed, undefeated TNA &
Via TNAInsider:

The twists and turns continue as it relates to Slammiversary and the return of The King of The Mountain Match. Last night we announced who will be competing and you heard from Bobby Roode, Matt Hardy, Eric Young, Drew Galloway and even Jeff Jarrett. Now we can announce that those competing Sunday will be competing for The BRAND New King of The Mountain Championship!

What does this mean for the future? What does it mean if, Jeff Jarrett, The Founder of Global Force Wrestling wins The King of The Mountain Championship?

This continues to fuel the idea of some kind of GFW TNA merger, or at the very least talent exchange. Why else create this title and have Jarrett coming back to compete in the match -- his "last" one?

This really looks like Jarrett is going to win. Who else would really benefit from the belt?

Bobby Roode - Who knows what is going on with him. He is still in the middle of a Tag Team Championship feud so giving him the belt wouldn't really make too much sense.

Matt Hardy - Just came back going on about showing the world who he is. Although not an ideal choice for me I could see maybe him winning but at the end of the day he is still Matt Hardy. He doesn't really win anything without Jeff...

Eric Young - I wouldn't mind seeing Eric with some gold around his waist again. Hell, I just want Eric Young as far away from Chris Melendez as possible.

Drew Galloway - Not a chance. At least not until he is done with the BDC.

Jeff Jarrett - Here is what has to be the odds on favorite. I can see jarrett winning then running with the new championship back to GFW cross promoting the two brands, maybe even starting a "war". Jeff is the only actual person I see winning this match.

Since the announcement Wednesday night, I have felt like Jeff will win and then somehow be involved with a Storyline because of it. I'm ok with that. I've also felt like he will have some GFW guys come out to help him win. Thus, starting the "invasion". Unlike most invasion angles that TNA has done in the past, I'm actually intrigued by this one because we don't know if TNA is actually going to be sold to GFW.

I remember Billy Corgan saying the cancelation was a "work" or something like that when that notice first came out. What if it is a storyline, and TNA will be threatened with cancelation because GFW will be taking the slot.

I think TNA in some form will be around for years to come, but this is the most excited I've been since the old NWA vs UWF invasion from when I was a kid. Of course back then, I didn't have the internet to know that NWA had bought UWF so I was worried. haha

The roster is pretty thin, the last thing they need is another title. For a long while now, TNA's biggest problem is its own convolution; this just makes things worse.

The King of the Mountain match should be a world title match, in my opinion, or at least an X Division match (but then obviously wouldn't feauture Jarrett)

I disagree. The roster is so large they've had to split their feuds bi-weekly. They can absolutely, and should absolutely have a better mid-card title for guys who are just outside the main event to fight one another over.

And it can't be a WHC or XD match because of how it falls between tapings.

NOW THEY GET A FUCKING MIDCARD CHAMPIONSHIP?! ARE YOU FUCKING SHITTING ME?!

They shouldn't have even treated the last one as shit as they did. Or the X Division title. Which is being treated like shit right now. They needed it back the as much if not more than they need it now. At this point, yeah. Please. Merge with GFW and kick Dixie the fuck out.

Well thank goodness it is not the "return of the TNA Global Legends TV Title." A new title which is what guys like Bram, Godderz, Anderson an even EY need. The name is meh but it is better than nothing.

I still dislike Jarret so him winning would upset me. It would not cause me to stop watching as it would make me want to watch. Especially since this GFW/TNA or TNA/GFW merger/invasion sounds so intriguing. I have never ordered a TNA PPV; I am considering ording Slamiversary just for this match.

Good stuff TNA. Just stop filming your shows with an iPhone.

I have been avoiding Impact spoilers as to not ruin any outcomes during this Sunday's PPV but this announcement makes me wonder if there are any giveaways. Will this be an actual championship or more of an achievement like King of the Ring. Very interested to see how it plays out.

I'm a proponent for a new mid-card championship, but whose to say that the whole thing wouldn't get mucked up like the X division. There's plenty of guys that can compete for it like Bram and EY, and it would make for new and interesting rivalries. They should pull the trigger on this, especially since they've changed the look of the KO belt twice in the last eight months. Can it the US or international belt and be done with it.

For me as long as Jarrett doesn't win this match I am fine with the result. But because TNA are morons they will give a man who is the owner of another company the win.
I predict TNA will have stupid booking desicions as always.

The thing about this match and the belt that goes with it is it's gathered interest from fans.

It's looks like Jarrett will win, will he invade with GFW?, is this his last match?, is there more to it?

If GFW is to invade or merge with TNA then I wouldn't be surprised if there is some outside interference if this storyline is where it's going to go.

Matt Morgan, EC III, BDC. These guys could all assist Jarrett and declare war on TNA.

I really hope this leads to some sort of angel involving GFW and TNA. I would love to see somebody like the Bullet Club make a appearance at the end of the match and just take apart the TNA guys and in the process give Jeff the win.

The fact that Slammiversary is airing on Flipps HD, the stream service that aired GFW's first pay-per-view, is a big indicator that Jeff Jarrett is definitely helping out the TNA office. That could mean a merger between TNA and GFW, if not a total buyout. If TNA and GFW were cooperating brands with unique rosters we could see something very much like the brand split a few years ago in WWE.

Yeah ... it doesn't make sense to have the guy whose moniker is "The King of the Mountain" win The King of the Mountain match.

Let's see how this plays out and where it leads, eh? Maybe it's a plot trigger for something that will happen soon. Maybe it's an essential part of the storyline.

Plus, people really underestimate Jeff Jarrett. The guy is a natural heel, he's a good face, he's always been a talker and he's always been able to get a reaction and not be ignored. He doesn't get X-Pac heat, he just gets heat.

You'll see this unless you're one of those marky IWC parrots who keep saying "he never drew a dime", referencing the shoot interviews done by a couple of people.

Just for fun, the exact quote was "Jeff Jarrett couldn't draw flies in a shit factory". Ricky Morton. I quite like that quote. But it's pretty idiotic considering that there's a lot of talented people who didn't draw anything. Besides, isn't "draw" a really old fashioned thing in 2015's wrestling? Who draws these days? Only Cena, maybe Hardy, Punk used to, Daniel Bryan used to. It's not that big of a thing anymore. 0.5% of wrestlers draw, the rest just make the show better. Jarrett is damn good at making the show better.

Should've happened tonight, whatever it is. Some people paid $50 and this was basically the entire reason for buying, the rest could have been on any given Impact or one of the free 'PPVs'. Will they even get another PPV?

This truly makes me ill. Jarrett is still searching for ways to legitimize his career. First off, the match is as dumb as dumb can be. Second, this makes as much sense as an Elimination Chamber championship. Third, it's Jeff Jarrett for crying out loud. He brings zero value to anything he is involved in. The title is a farce. And for a fed that has a history of making dum decisions, TNA just keeps on making them. This truly sickens me to the core.

This was a great idea. They created this KOTM Championship just so Jeff would win it to feed the Invasion storyline. It makes total sense and that was the right thing to do.

It's funny how people get into their heads some ideas (like OMG they are adding a secondary belt!) and when the idea is not met, they crap into whatever it is they thought it would be. Look it was done for the invasion, that's it. And it's a good idea.
