Ok so last night with the MEM doing the comentary did anyone else think that that Booker T was trying to imitate JR? if he was do you think it was meant to be as bad as the oklahoma thing from :wcw:?

I'm not sure if he was or not but either way he sounded really bad when he was doing comentary last night.

How could anyone really tell ??!! The audio guys had the entrance themes turned way too high and Booker T and Nash's headsets turned way too low !!

Either way -- that was horrible. For the life of me, I never thought it could get worse than Don West and Mike Tenay, but TNA never ceases to amaze me and that's not amazing in a good way.

I had always picture Booker T to be someone that would be skilled on the mic doing commentary. The only problem with his voice is the raspiness that it is. I am not sure whither he was intentionally trying to copy JR's style in a means of making from of him, but it doesn't sound like it. If anyone, it seems like Booker T was trying to make fun of Don West. It is not a bad thing, it adds some separation by the Main Event Mofia.

I don't think he was trying to be JR. I like booker T, I think he is quite good, but he just can't do commentary (When he did commentary as King Booker in the WWE, it was so unbelievably painful to listen to, it dust dragged on and on). I have to agree with The Poster though, if he was doing anyone it was definetely Don West, not JR.

I thought the idea was pretty funny but...I could now stand Bookers voice. I actually turned impact off because of it. I don't think he was trying to impersonate anyone. He just picked a voice and did a standard announcer stereotype with it.

It started out being a funny parody of Don West... Then it just got so annoying that for the first time in my life, I missed DW. It was so sad...

Are you guys high? That was the most entertaining episode of iMPACT! in a long time! I was rolling throughout the whole broadcast. Chet Lemon and Black Snow for the win! When I heard Mike Tenay and Don West again (world's most annoying commentators) I winced a little.

Kevin Nash/Chet Lemon was awesome. Booker T/Black Snow was absolutely horrible. If he was imitating Don West, then he didn't do a very good job at it, as it made me wish that West would come back to do commentary ASAP. If Booker T did commentary as the play-by-play analyst and in his normal voice, I am confident that he could do a good job (I hope I am correct in the assumption that he was color commentating last night). However, as far as I can tell, Booker's sense of humor sucks. He needs to lay off the comedy and do what he does best: playing serious and letting Kevin Nash and Scott Steiner tell the jokes.

Booker T was obviously imatating the verbal misfit, Don West. And it was fukin hilarious. I don't even like TNA. In fact i think its shit, from its wrestlers, to its storylines, to its announce team. The only reason i tuned in thursday was cause i heard booker talkin. When i realized he and Kevin Nash had taken over the announce booth, i had to keep watchin. That was gold. Nash is always good for a laugh, and i never knew Booker could talk like that.
Although, i gues i shouldn't be surprised, considering the great job he'd been doing with his Jamaican accent and British accent - i'm jokin by the way.

I think Booker T was impersonating Scott Ferrall, the sports show guy on Howard Stern's Sirius/XM show. When it came back from a commercial i actually thought it was actually Ferrall.

More importantly people should be talking about Scott Steiner's announce work. Here I thought he would just become a public speaker once his wrestling career was over. Now I'm pretty sure he should be the next big boxing/wrestling/mma ring announcer.

Scott Ferrall???? I remember that raspy guy from BattleDome.

Booker on Impact was pretty good. His imitation of West was awesome but his voice just hurts him. An announcer's voice is supposed to be perfectly clear but Booker's is just so naturally raspy that it doesn't play well on television. He did a much better job than a lot of guest commentators do though. He could be a decent analyst after he retires I suppose as he obviously knows a ton about wrestling and knows how to talk. Definitely not bad.

What's with Booker and these voices anyway? Since being in TNA his accent just fluctuates between his actual voice (the one that called Hogan a "*****" in a promo once lol), a British accent, and a weird African accent.

I don't give a damn who Booker T was imitating, because that was pretty damn horrible by any means. It made Don West look like a fricken genius, something I thought I'd never say. So they have Booker defeat a few referees in a handicap match, they have him commentate over half the show, making it almost unbearable to watch, and for the pay pay view they have him defending with worthless title against a referee. Why he left WWE for this shit is beyond me. This guy really is an idiot.

His commentating wasn't funny at all, I found it very stupid. How many times did he refer to Matt Morgan as "a big guy"? At least 15 times in the one match. Kevin Nash was actually decent as a commentator, but Booker T was over-the-top with his accent. They even had him commentate while he beat up the Frontline. Making Creed or Lethal (I can't remember who he beat up as it changes every week) look absolutely worthless. Am I supposed to believe a veteran who is passed his prime, can beat up a young and strong wrestler while focusing on his accent and his poor commentating? There is no logic in this at all.

I hope it's only a 1 night thing, because if Booker does it on a more often basis, I'll quit watching TNA. Because I simply cannot focus on watching a match while hearing such idiocy, and I'm not one of those guys who listens to the show in mute. Even Abyss could do a better job than this shit.

Well, I think that Booker, oops.. I mean, Black Snow, and Chet Lemon were hillarious. Snow and Lemon should be the commentators every week. The first half of the episode of iMPACT! was one of the best, and I almost threw a coke bottle at my TV Screen after seeing Don West and Mike Tenay. But, Booker's voice was raspy, and it was funny. He was definately immitating Don West, Not JR. So, I don't know what you guys are smoking, but iMPACT! Was hella funny. Well, the first half was.

That was th joke ted

However I do have to agree with the people that say that Nash is pure gold on the comentating, I think it would be good to see him take Don Wests spot and get the whole face and heel perspective on the comentary, kinda like what used to happen with WWE. Ala JR and King

TNA in my mind officially 'jumped the shark' last Thursday night.

From the 'commercial that started the show' (nWo copycat) to the first hour that came across as the nWo combined with the Millionaires Club. I feel like it was a last ditch effort to gain ratings. There were some parts of that first hour that were brilliant (Chet Lemon) and Scott Steiner gave us some more 'translation videos' for YouTube while Booker T's voice and inconsistent accent got on my nerves.

I really thought weeks ago when Brother Ray got dumped in the dumpster that were were going to see the famous "dumping Kidman in the dumpster with Hogan in the Hummer hitting it" again

Black Snow and Chet Lemon were awesome. I didn't see Nash or Booker at the announce table, what are you guys smokin? :p

I'm not being sarcastic either, I really enjoyed both of their work on iMPACT!. Scotty was pretty funny doing the introductions as well.

It was REALLY funny when Booker got in the ring to participate in a beat down and was still commentating. Pure gold

I fucking loved it. Booker T as Don West was entertaining as all hell. He was over the top, but it wouldnt have been funny if he wasnt. Yes it reminded me of the NWO days, but I dont care. It was still awesome. Plus Kevin Nash constantly on the mic is not a ba thing. The guy just oozes charisma, as does Booker T. It actually made me enjoy Booker T for a night. Fantastic job by both men.

Honestly, Booker could have been great if he just shut up for brief intervals. He just didn't let the joke sink in... He kept going on forever.

Hello all.

I have to say I loved Booker T commentating on Impact last week. I can see how it could annoy people so perhaps it's a lobve it or hate it thing but I thought he was pure gold & would rather listen to him than Don West anyday!

Steiner was an amazing announcer as well!

Agre almost Brromie, I actually found the replacing of the commentators for last weeks Impact entertaining, they did a shit load better than the regular crew.

Scott Steiner however was stupid, he was giving props to the guys he's been beating up on the past months FFS.

But cheers to Nash and Booker for making Impact actually watchable, ya suprised me.

I thought Black Snow and Chet Lemon were fantastic!

Dont get me wrong, bookers voice was a bit hard to understand when he went overboard but that was the whole point so for half an impact it was some great viewing.

I also loved the fact that they were acting if they were different people, saying as the wrestlers walked by "Im Black Snow, whats you problem" ect, and Booker still commentating while he was giving a beat down in the ring :D
I also liked Booker repeating the whole "If i have learned 1 thing about him (Morgan), its that hes a big guy" :D

I thought it was a good angle also for the simple fact that it introduced the start of tension and distrust between Angle and Sting, considering Angle booking Sting in a hadicap match against 3D.

I used to be a big Booker T fan and used to love his promo's, but ever since he has started using these cheesy fake accents he has just become very very annoying and I change the channels whenever he is going to talk.

Heck the only thing he says during MEM promo's now is "RESPECT" over and over

But I do agree Kevin Nash is a natural at commentating and he should definately become one when he retires from wrestling
