Biggest Modern Superstar Never To Go To WWE

Harddyboy77

I'm cool
For years Sting was universally known as the biggest superstar to never go to the WWE. He then signed and had a match with HHH, in my opinion that made AJ Styles the biggest modern superstar to never go to the WWE. Well in today's WWE not only has Styles signed but so has Samoa Joe, Kevin Steen, and Shinsuke Nakamura. The WWE is racking up the best in the world and making sure that they get the biggest superstars they possibly can.

So in your opinion, who is the biggest modern superstar to never sign with the 'E?

That would really depend on your definition of modern. Are we talking '90s up to today? If so my vote goes to The Great Muta. He was a huge star over in Japan and had quite a bit of crossover success here in the States with WCW, having memorable feuds with Sting and Ric Flair and later joining the nWo.

A few that would come to mind would be:
Ricochet/Prince Puma
Hiroshi Tanahashi
Okada
Kota Ibushi
Kenny Omega

Young Bucks as well.

Without a doubt, Tanahashi and Okada. Okada has basically said he never would go to WWE. It will be interesting to see if he keeps to that. Understandable given how WWE have booked Japanese wrestlers in the past (Kaientai were a joke despite Taka Michinoku being one of the most talented Cruiserweights they have ever contracted IMO; Tajiri devolved into a comedy character, the less said about Kenzo Suzuki the better; earlier incarnations were more like Bond villains, the Orient Express, Kabuki, Tenryu and Mr Fuji) - however there are definite signs of that changing. As WWE attempts to expand eastwards (recent live events in Japan, China, Russia and the Arabian peninsular show this), they have booked Jushin Liger as the legend that he is; Hideo Itami and now Shinsuke Nakamura are booked as anything but jokes, and there's every chance that Kota Ibushi will be presented strongly in the Cruiserweight Classic should he participate (which is likely as why would they show him on screen at Takeover: Dallas) so perhaps one day Okada may change his mind?

Jay Lethal? He is a huge name in the industry for sure. He made a name for his self in TNA and went on to be the Face of ROH and continues to make history. He would be a huge buy for WWE. Other than him I'm going with OMEGA.

The Fallen Angel, Christopher Daniels. Had a pretty good career in TNA winning titles left and right, had some amazing matches with AJ Styles and Samoa Joe. Currently in ROH. Not sure if he'd be instantly recognised in WWE compared to AJ Styles but, he's one of the bigger fish out there WWE have never signed.

He technically did sign with WWE before and worked in the WWF from 1998-2001 under a developmental deal. He appeared on Heat and Jakked as a jobber.

Definitely the Young Bucks. Theu have made such a name for themselves on their own that they probably do not need the WWE at this point in their careers. RoH are paying them a ton to keep them exclusive within the US. So, I doubt the Brothers Jackson will be turning to Stamford anytime soon.

Daniels is awesome! Amazed WWE have bypassed this guy over the years, then again, they've bypassed rakes of talented guys, shame in his 40's by the time they decide to become more sensible in recruiting talent.

What in blue hell are you talking about ? A Jobber Styles was in wwe back in 2002 as a jobber he made a name for himself in TNA! Styles made two appearances for the World Wrestling Federation (WWF): on the January 26, 2002, episode of Metal, in a losing effort against The Hurricane, and in a dark match prior to the January 27 episode of SmackDown!, where he was defeated by Rico Constantino. In April, Styles would be offered a developmental deal by the WWF, where it would require Styles to relocate to Cincinnati, Ohio, where the Heartland Wrestling Association (HWA) developmental territory was located,[9] with Styles ultimately declining the deal, as the move would interfere with his wife's college plans.[9][23] Despite this, Styles would wrestle one non-contracted match for HWA, on February 19 against Matt Stryker, in a losing effort! As for your question the biggest modern superstar who never signed with wwe is ABYSS and Jay Lethal!

Of all time - The Great Muta or Jushin Thunder Liger, if you don't count his NXT match.

Of current talent - Probably Okada or Lethal.

Actually he was also for a brief time part of WCW. He made a handful of appearances during the final weeks of the company, mostly on Thunder if I remember right.
