Biggest letdown

WWE4EVA!

Occasional Pre-Show
I just want to say that if this is in the wrong part sorry, and please move it if you like.

Over the years there have been hundreds of plans for something that have been changed due to different circumstances such as Death, Fired so forth.

I am talking about stuff like Mr Kennedy going to become World Heavyweight Champion after winning Mnney In The Bank in 2007, he was going to defeat The Undertaker and become Champion, But he got injured and Edge got his shot instead. That was an example of one that I would have liked to happen but didnt

Another one is like the time Paul London was =supposed to be revealed as the man who blow up Vinces limo and then get a mega Push leading to a Championship reign, but that was scrapped after...YOU KNOW WHAT.

Anyway they are some I would have liked to see but didnt happen after there any that you saw in the works but were scrapped without any explanation?

Just the majority of the Nexus storyline sticks out. They had a group of young, talented superstars who had an incredible introduction to the WWE but the whole thing ended awfully.

They had a secret that Otunga was going to tell. They attacked the Undertaker - Barrett could have feuded with him but no, lets drop the entire thing completely. It is very frustrating to see these storylines develop and then end before they finish.

i forget the date but a big one was when undertaker returned a couple of years ago and the weeks running up to it they would air creepy promos and everyone thought it was sting it was probally the only time people have been disapointed to see taker lol another let down was kane vs imposter kane it was dropped due to dull fan reaction i wanted to see where that was going

I agree with the person above who said Kharma, but also wanted to say that in a way and not to sound like mean but she kinda screwed herself over with the pregnancy thing. Not saying that female wrestlers should abandon the idea of having kids, but she got pregnant right as she was coming into WWE and they obviously had big plans for her and I believe she is what was going to be the start of rebuilding the divas division. Then she had the miscarriage and I think after that happened she wasn't fully in the right mindset to come back right away even though she said she was. The Royal Rumble spot she had was awesome but after that it went back on the down slide for her. I do hope they bring her back and pick up where they left off with her because she definitely has a lot to offer.

CM Punk returning with the WWE Title 2 weeks after Money In The Bank 2011. The whole thing was over before it could become white-hot. I watched a YouShoot with Shane Douglas recently and he came up with a fantastic idea which had Punk taking the belt with him to different indy shows and having Cena show up at the same indy events to try and take the belt back from Punk, but Punk would escape with the title everytime - this would go on for months. Then during WM season, Punk would finally return with the belt and they'd blow off the angle with a title match between Cena & Punk at Wrestlemania. Actually Shane didn't mention that part about Punk returning during WM season and defending the belt against Cena at WM, I came up with that bit just now cause a huge angle like that is only fitting of coming to an end on the grandest stage of em all. It didn't have to be exactly like Shane's idea but I wish the WWE had done something like that and had it end at Wrestlemania. While the belt was gone from the company, they could've just put the main focus on the World Heavyweight Title and had that main event the PPV's in the meantime. Or they could've had Cena beat Rey Mysterio to become the (interim) WWE Champion at Summerslam, then have Punk return during WM season, claiming to be the "real WWE Champion", leading to a match between the two at Wrestlemania to determine the true one & only champion.

Mr. McMahon's Million Dollar Mania set crashing down on Vince. For some reason the set came crashing down on top of Vince and they had HHH, Cena, Edge and other superstars run out to try & get Vince out, Vince even broke kayfabe and called out for "Paul" while he was stuck underneath all the rubble. Then a few months later Vince turns up on TV without a scratch on him and nobody mentions the incident ever again. I can't remember if I had heard this as a rumor or if I had just come up with this myself but I always thought it was gonna be revealed that Kane was behind it, turning him heel and setting him up in a programme with Triple H. Maybe nothing was going to come out of that angle at all and they just wanted to kill off that segment for good. The explaination behind that one has always bugged me though.

And I personally didn't mind this one as Mr. McMahon came off as more evil & twisted than we thought for using his family to get back at Austin, but Vince being revealed as the Higher-Power of The Ministry was a big letdown for tons of wrestling fans. I'm not gonna debate Vince's reveal, but I think other people's suggestions for who the Higher-Power should've been instead like Jake Roberts and, hell, even Vince McMahon Sr. from the dead ( :wtf: ) are absurd.

On this one im going TNA with it. October 2008 after BFG when Joe dropped the title to Sting and the Main Event Mafia was formed. The Instant Classic Christian Cage's contract expired not long after BFG and he decided to take his talents to Stamford CT and join VKM right as the MEM vs TNA Originals storyline was starting to heat up. Thus leaving a huge void in the main event story. It was implied all throughout August and September that Christian Cage would align himself with Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, and Beer Money to take on the Mafia and eradicate there strangle hold on TNA with Christian Cage being the mouthpiece and leader of the TNA Originals (I refuse to call them the "Front Line" stupid fucking name makes me wanna slap Russo right now). BUT Christian left and the Original's were buried by January 09 with the feuding between the Mafia and Mick Foley and the internal MEM feud with Sting and Angle taking over the main event then the rock bottom of Joe handing Kurt the title and joining MEM at slamiversary 09 and so on and so fourth getting worse and worse untill early 2012 when it started getting good again. So IMO Christian leaving was a BIG letdown for TNA when there was potential for a great stable vs stable storyline and really shows how much one wrestler can make a HUGE difference between and dull story and a great one.

You are dead on with the Punk moment. No one had been as hot as him for a long long time, and quite frankly they blew it. I understand he still had a year long reign with the title and he is still one of WWE's top stars, but if they had kept him off tv longer they would have had the fans foaming at the mouth for his return. Imagine the crowd reaction he would have gotten had they kept him off tv for months. I love his current theme song, but the abrupt change when he returned had people confused. They just messed it up on so many levels imo. Another great one mentioned is the cryptic messages that lead to Jericho's return that essentially lead to him putting everyone over for months before leaving again.

A couple of things come to mind when thinking of big letdowns. The first was when Rikishi was revealed as the driver that ran Stone Cold over. I always wondered if there was someone else that was lined up to be the driver or if it was going to be Rikishi all along?

The other main one that springs to mind was the Chris Jericho return vignettes that came with his last proper return to WWE. The way they were filmed with the boy and girl in the classroom had so many of us on here guessing who it might of been with choices from Sting to Stephanie Mcmahon among them. Could WWE of done it any better and came up with a major surprise i don't know but that was a bit of a let down too.

I always thought the Colon's joining DiBiase, getting a cash pay to take out some of DiBiase's opponents. I always thought DiBiase would lead the stable and go on for a major push, but Carlito had to go and get fired, 3 strikes and he was out. I was always hopeful that that would lead somewhere.

I'm gonna go ahead and say (probably) the most obvious choice: The InVasion storyline.

Remember what the last image was on the final WCW Monday Nitro? An advertisement for WrestleMania 17.

The ECW/WCW Alliance should have won the Survivor Series match. Turn all the WWF programming into Nitro (Raw) and Thunder (SmackDown). Let the WWF slowly get their revenge into the final payoff at Wrestlemania 18 where the WWF rises up and overtakes WCW, killing it off once and for all.

i can think of a few that i really wanted to see the end of

1) the anonymous raw gm. i know they gave us hornswaggle but i wonder where it could have went.

2) Like many have said the chris Jericho videos

3) the SES they did this whole angle and had people shaving there heads then as quick as that it was gone.

4) in i believe it was 2006 they had the imposter kane angle, they shoulda done alot with that. like give real kane the strap, and have imposter kane loose on purpose to a jobber to loose the strap that coulda been a great build to a wm match

The Undertaker vs Undertaker match that had about 5 months of build and main-evented SummerSlam in 94 was a disaster (considering the amount of time put into it). The storyline was pretty good but I just think when the big payoff came all we got was a terrible match with the real Undertaker against the "fake" Undertaker (Brian Lee who was a good three inches shorter than Calloway). Another that comes to mind is obviously never capitalizing on an Austin-Hogan WrestleMania match.

I thought the nWo debuting in the WWF in 2002 was a huge letdown! When the nWo came back at No Way Out, they came out to a huge pop. Then a month later at Wrestlemania 18, Hogan lost to The Rock and Hall lost to Stone Cold. They made the nWo too weak! Then had Hogan return to the Red and Yellow, released Hall, added X-Pac, Big Show, Booker T, and HBK. Then Nash tore his quad and they were disbanded with no reason.

I think it would of been cool to see the nWo have a huge role in the WWF/E (not as dominating as they were in WCW.) It would've been great to have Hogan, Nash, Hall being top heels and feuding with the WWF's top stars, also Bischoff would've been GM of Raw not that long after and that would been great TV.

Nothing in wrestling will ever beat Starrcade 1997 for letdowns. The show where Sting would finally take down Hogan and WCW would send the nWo into a tailspin ended with the biggest mess ever seen in pro wrestling. Still disappoints me to this day when I think about it.

The nWo arriving in the WWE was terrible as well. I don't even mind Hogan turning face so soon, the fans obviously wanted it, but look at the way they were introduced with Vince McMahon turning his chair around to end a Raw. Garbage, utter garbage.

Wrestlemania 8 - not following through with the Ric Flair/Hogan match was bad enough but the shocking Hogan v Justice and poor undercard really destroyed the aura of Wrestlemania.

Of that show only 2 matches were even worth Wrestlemania status, Flair and Savage (and the blood was what put that over the top) and Piper/Hart and again, blood was the difference maker. Every other match was poorly booked, to this day I am amazed it drew a dime.

More recently Wade Barrett's return with the fight club vignettes. It screamed out for a new Nexus style group of fighters with Wade as the Tyler Durden but we got nothing near that...again... the best hope now is he becomes Heyman's next guy...
