Big Star Leaving, but Who?

Source: Wrestlezone.com

One of WWE's biggest stars has decided to leave the company in the near future. Also, an important behind-the-scenes person is also planning on leaving the company. The names should be revealed within the next few days.

Just one question, who could it be?

Honestly chances are it could well have be RVD as has been reported on various places that he wants to head to TNA or Japan, however it could be someone completely unrelated and I honestly couldn't be sure who it could be.

Thoughts?

I'm assuming that it's RVD honestly. He refused to sign another new contract offer, and I can't see why he would do that unless he wanted to leave the WWE. I can't really think of anyone else who could be leaving. Possibly one of the guys backstage who's had problems with WWE and Vince in the past (Jeff & Matt Hardy among others).

Here's to hoping and praying it's Batista, Lashley, or Cena. Though the odds of that are about two million to one.

Here's to hoping for that one. :D

There were rumours that Benoit was unhappy at one point early this year and was looking maybe to head to Japan at some point, it's possible it could be him although I do see Benoit as a company guy, doing the same sort of thing Malenko has done, being a Road Agent and such.

True, Benoit is a possibility because I very highly doubt he's happy with his position in the company over the last few years ever since his title run. But then again Benoit has always struck me as a very loyal man.

Well actually on second thought of that one, Benoit left WCW for the exact same reasons as what's happening to him right now---being buried in the cards and not pushed properly.

I doubt it's Benoit however. I mean when he left WCW he had a place to go, to the number ONE company around. Nowadays where would he go? To TNA? I highly doubt he'd do that, he's starting to get alot older now and he's been wrestling for what, almost thirty years now? It'll truly be a sad day however when he does retire, guy STILL puts his all into every match, and has always, always done nothing but impress me with his skills. Truly one of the legends in this biz who appreciates the biz and doesn't let ego go to his head (coughcough HOGAN).

I thought Benoit signed a contract extension??? Anyways, I think we are reading too much into this. Get the VBookie going, its going to be Ric Flair finally announcing his retirment. Flair is pick one, RVD is my 2nd choice.

People can still get out of their contracts they dont nessesarily have to be coming to the end of their contracts, although I would expect if it was someone getting out of their contract early they are unlikely to appear at another Wrestling Promotion.

I'll throw out another possibility, Kane? He was also at one stage reported to be thinking about retiring, I'm only suggesting speculation here, chances are the story is complete crap anyway.

Ya it could be. I really think it is Flair. I doubt though that Vince would let Benoit out of his contract. Benoit may promise he's going to Japan, but I think Kurt Angle soured good ole Vinnie Mac out of letting people out of contracts early. Hell Randy Orton dropped 50K, allegedly, on a hotel room and still can't get out of his contract. Vince is putting the vicegrips on those contracts it looks like.

I thought about Kane too, I think that he will be taking some time off soon to heal his knee in the future, but I don't think he will be leaving anytime soon, at least I hope not. I know he has at least a few years left, and he's always been loyal to WWE.

I'm going to go with RVD, just because he has had some falling out with WWE resently, and I wouldn't be surprised if he announced his departure from WWE.

The problem with Kane is, unless he decides to retire there is no point in leaving the WWE. As far as I can tell he doesn't own the rights to the name Kane, and I really dont think he would work without the Kane gimmick, he isn't the greatest worker in the world dont get me wrong he isn't bad, but without the name value of "Kane" he would be quite useless to someone like TNA.

^ yea I can agree with you Jonny, It would be quite pointless for Kane to leave the company, because you are right, as he doesn't own the Kane charater, and it would be stupid to see Glen Jacobs play anything but Kane. But going back to what I said, I think that kane has a few more years until he completely retires.

My question is, does WWE own the name Rob Van Dam? I guess if he went to TNA or Japan he could probably go by just RVD. But that is something interesting to ponder.

flair has stated he will wrestle the rest of this year I think wrestlemania 24 will be his swan song no one deserves it more than the dirtiest player in the game I dont think beniot would do that I really think it is RVD

Theres been a few guys that have been talking about retiring and leaving but my guess is that it will be for the hell of it Carlito. I know thats a long shot but maybe he found a way out of his contract. never know nowadays

The others be RVD i mean just way to prepare fans as with his recent turn down of their contract offer.

could it be johny nitro we have seen squat of him and when we have its been in 2 second matches i just se him as being unhappy.

Its prolly rvd IF anyone at all these rumors of people leaving always leave me sceptical till i see a name and the formal best wishes crap on wwe.com

It could be any number of people, it just depends on who you consider to be a big star, RVD, Orton, Benoit, and Kane seem like the most logical choices, RVD is interested in either going to Japan or TNA, unless WWE agrees to give him close to six months off a year, Orton just trashed a hotel room, pissing a shit load of WWE officals off, Benoit has been unhappy as of the last couple of months, and has been seemingly forgotten about, and Kane had said ealier in the year that he was looking to retire soon, and try to move into an acting carreer, but another name that hasn't been brought up yet is Chavo, he hasn't really gotten a decent push since his feud with Benoit, and his contract is almost up, last I heard, and it was rumored that he was looking to retire also

Not to sound contrived or anything but Im pretty sure that news got mixed up as it was reported earlier in a similar news post here on WZ.

Kurt Schneider, WWE's Executive Vice President of Marketing has given notice that he will be leaving the company. He will be taking a position working with the Harlem Globetrotters organization.

Schneider wasn't happy with increased pressure from the McMahon family, and gave notice 2-weeks ago. Schneider has been with the company since February 2003 and was the major force responsible for overseeing the marketing for all of WWE's PPV events, the live events, global marketing and strategic business operations. He also oversaw all of the company's advertising, promotions, Public Relations, Corporate Communications and other associated responsibilities. In 2004 it was Schneider's Wrestlemania XX advertising theme of building the entire year around marketing the company's flagship event that helped lead WWE to its first major PPV revenue increase overall in several years.

Schneider was well liked and considered one of the best department heads to work under and his division was said to have had the best morale of any part of WWE's office end. His departure is being looked at as a major loss to the company.

I'm a bit stumped on this one. RVD is likely, probably the favourite. Kane wont leave yet. I think he'd want to go out on a high note at mania with taker or something. Benoit recently signed a new contract. Flair has the horseman dvd coming out soon and there was even talk of a reunion to plug the dvd so i doubt it's flair. I'm going with rvd, carlito or maybe orton He might think he isn't getting pushed enough in wwe and is going to tna.

The most obvious 2 are Chavo and RVD because they're not getting pushed and their contracts are coming up. Orton's done pissed off so many people with his actions that TNA probably won't sign him and Flair will retire after WM24 probably. The person nobody's looking at right now.... GREGORY HELMS. As long as he's in the WWE he'll never get a decent push for a US, IC, or Tag Title. He's good on the mic and depending on who u put him against, wrestling skills. If u put Helms against the likes of Benoit, Finley, Michaels, Edge, etc., he can have a decent match. TNA will be the best spot for GREGORY HELMS!!!!!:farttorch:

PLEASE BE CARLITO. The man is just lacking it at this point. They shouldn't let him leave. Just fire his ass.

Flair: Can't be Flair. But he has stated that WM 24 will be his last WM.

Orton: Come on guys. Be a bit smarter than this. Are you going to wait a week after someone trashes a hotel room to fire him? I doubt they'd use him at Backlash and then fire him. Doesn't make much sense to me.

Nitro: What kind of joke is that? Nitro has done nothing wrong except dating Melina, who supposably has heat.

RVD: Wasn't it 2 weeks ago that they said that RVD and WWE were on great terms?

Please think of what these dirtsheets are doing. First, RVD is almost definetely leaving to TNA. Then, he's staying. Then, he's on great terms with WWE, then he rejects a contract, and now he could be leaving again? Bullshit. Let it be Carlito.

Wasn't there also a report a while back that Booker T was looking to retire so he could just train guys. If that's true then it could be him. I think the likely choice is RVD. With the news that he rejected a new contract offer and WWE wouldn't give him that year off or whatever, I think it's looking more and more likely that RVD will be gone soon and he is a pretty big star within the company. Although lets look at it a different way. It says BIG star. When I think of big star I think of two guys: HBK and Taker.

I believe it was reported sometime ago that HBK wanted to take some time off to rest and get some of his nagging injuries fixed up. If that is indeed the case, then I could see him leaving for a while after Backlash and then returning some months down the road with HHH maybe. I know the man deserves a break, especially for having to job to Cena and what better way to do it than to lose at Backlash and just say something like, "I'm going away for a while." Kinda like the whole "I lost my smile" thing years ago. But I doubt it is HBK.

Taker, well it won't be him obviously, unless Vince decides to take the title off of him for whatever reason and piss on him, which I find to be highly unlikely. Supposedly Taker is in for a long title run this time and I really doubt it will end this sunday.

Out of everyone who comes to mind, my top choices would be RVD, Booker T, Carlito, Shelton Benjamin or HBK. How I wish it was Cena or Lashley though.

Everyone has already said RVD, Flair, Carlito, Benoit, Chavo and Kane...what about the other ECW Originals? I can't imagine any of them are happy with their current situation. Also, as reported on Wrestlezone, Vince was planning on phasing them out and eventually releasing them sometime after Wrestlemania.

I think its RVD since like 3 days after that rumor was announced they said RVD didnt give notice. Unless this is someone else. If it is the same story then its def RVD. He wants a smaller schedule and TNA can give it to him and deliver on some cash. But if its two different people then the next guy on my mind has to be Carlito. He and WWE have a lot of heat and I think he can see him self in a better role in a better promotion that can give him what he wants like TNA to drop a name or so.

For me, it's got to be RVD that is the big name leaving here. The whole saga now points pretty obviously to the fact that he wants to leave fast. The WWE are only going to bury him now that he supposedly didn't renew a contract with them so getting out of there in a hurry is a good idea for him. This could just be a story made up by the reporters to build off the growing RVD leaving concept, but I'd imagine that it has got to be RVD. A big name star that isn't happy with the WWE looking to move on out of there, it's got all signs pointing to RVD, although you could basically say that applies to a lot of people as well. I don't know whether it is a guy like Chris Benoit because like some others say, I believe he is loyal to the company and will probably remain there for the rest of his career by the looks of it, in one way or another.

As for the Vice President of Financial affairs of the WWE leaving, you just have to say "Who cares?" But I think an issue here is the fact that McMahon just got too much for him here and is just another person not fit to work under that family. It shows that it's not just the wrestlers who are getting pissed at Vince though.

It could be Carlito, he has said HIMSELF he is unhappy. It could be any guy that hasn't been pushed properly, or not been in a good storyline in awhile. (like Shelton Benjamin) Chavo Guerrero's contract expires before summer, so it could be him. Maybe thats why he hasn't had a good feud since he took out Mysterio.

He could always just change his name to Kain lol, worked for devon - dvon....
