Getting Noticed By Management
I was watching some old school footage of Teddy Long and Doom and I found myself kinda wanting to change my username, I thorougly enjoyed watching him and Doom take it to the NWA back in the day. Here's the tale of the tape:

Bill Alfonso: Managed the ECW champion Taz as well as the ECW tag team champs in RVD & Sabu. He was one of the best talkers using the annoying little shit that hangs around the unnecessarily violent badass similar to Teddy Long but the difference is that Bill Alfonso played the role as sort of like the badass's cousin that was hopped up on meth or something. Unlike Teddy, he has the same cult following that every other member of the Real ECW has.

Teddy Long: Managed the "Soul Brothers" Doom to the tag team championship in the NWA which, at the time, was equal if not more important to the then WWF's tag team title and ECW's ever was. He also managed the Undertaker and Sid Vicious when they were the Skyscrapers, two future WWF/E champs and Sid, a NWA/WCW champ. Unlike, Bill Alfonso, he went toe to toe with the likes of Flair and Arn Anderson on the mic when Doom took on the Horsemen. Like Bill Alfonso, he played the role of annoying little shit that hangs around with the unnecessarily violent badass but in his case, it was like a sort of "Huggy Bear" type character.

So, who do you think is the better of the two?

Nuff Said! Teddy has been around for so long and has managed so many more superstars. You don't STAY in the wrestling business if you aren't good. ESPECIALLY when your role is essentially a managerial (and General Manager)

Like KoC417 stated Long has been around as a manager a lot longer. Not only being a manager he's had loads of success as a general manager on WWE programing. Alfonso has had success as well, but nowhere near the level Long has.

My vote is for fonzi. He drew heat like a mad man with that damn whistle. When he was leading the anti-hardcore/wwf invasion of ecw (way way back when) he was awesome. The whole building almost exploded when he over-turned the banning of chokeslams so one of his boys could use it only to have 911 come out and choke slam the piss out of him. His work as a manager was great as well. Check him out during the RVD vs Sabu match at guilty as charged. He plays both guys off against each other and plays the crowd all the time 'calling it right down the middle'. He was small, he was a rat but he was also awesome as a manager

It's got to be Teddy Long in my opinion, he was a fantastic manager back in the late 80's/early 90's and again in 2003/2004 with Rodney Mack, Mark Henry and D'Lo Brown. Fonzy was good back in ECW but once ECW folded he was never seen on a major wrestling company full time again.

Teddy Long is 100 times better then Bill Alphonso ever was or will be. Teddy long as someone stated has survived through the years of professional wrestling. He was a manager back in the NWA days, turned into a wwe ref, then GM..

Bill Alphonso was a part of the Extremly Crappy Wrestling... It's not like RVD needed anyone to get him over with the crowd, he has enough charisma to do that.. Bill Alphonso was not some hot free agent after ECW finally died, he was just another never was from that promotion

Teddy Long on the other hand has ALWAYS managed wrestlers with lack of charisma, (yes even the Undertaker).. Mark Callous was very bland until Vince's genius turned him into The Undertaker.

LONG LIVE TEDDY LONG almost the only person left active with ties from NWA days!!

I gotta go with Teddy Long. As mentioned the guy"s a survivor. I though he was a better manager and ref and he does the G.M. role perfectly ! It's also funny watching old WCW and Georgia Championship wrestling studio shows from the early 80's and seeing "Peanut Head" Teddy taking the guys ring coats and robes from the wrestlers.
