Best UK Pay Per View

Dark Match Jobber
Hi guys, just wanted to make a quick thread about Pay Per Views here in the UK. As you know WWE used to come over twice a year and hold a ppv here, usually insurrextion and rebellion, I'm just wondering out of them all, which do you think was the best and why?

I do realise most will probably say Summerslam 92, but other than that one, what do you think?

I personally think Rebellion 2001, great matches, steel cage, Rock v Stone cold Wrestlemania re-match, Jericho v Angle. Great PPV. I am slightly biased however as I was there!

I Know how that feels. Years ago (can't remember the year now) WWE came to England at the time when Bret Hart was champion. When Bret did his usual passing of his pink shades to a youngster, i was stood near that youngster. Bret had the title over his shoulder, and it was a moment to remember as i reached out and touched the old WWF belt. That for me was the best show in UK as like you said I was there.

What an event Summerslam 92 was from the old Wembley Stadium. Hosted one of the biggest PPV crowds ever if i remember.

Rebellion 2001;

I fking loved that ppv, and for a small time UK ppv that show delivered. I've always said this that Rebellion is a hidden gem of a ppv as most people never saw it other than the UK fans.

I'm going to put my vote in for Rebellion 2000. Main event was Rock, Austin, Angle and Rikishi for the title in a no dq, no count out fatal 4 way.

The show also contained a triple threat tables elimination match between E&C, Dudley's and T&A. Plus singles action with Kane v Jericho and Taker v Benoit, plus much more!

I love this ppv it just had everything you'd want and is very fun to watch.

I'm going to put my vote in for Rebellion 1999. This show was awesome and it was the first WWF/WWE PPV I ever went too. And a very good main event: Triple H vs The Rock in a Steel Cage match for the WWF Championship.
The card was:

Christian vs Crash Holly ***

Jeff Jarrett vs D'Lo Brown for the WWF Intercontinental Championship ***1/2

The Godfather defeated Gangrel *

Val Venis defeated Mark Henry **3/4

Ivory vs Luna Vachon, Tori and Jacqueline in a Four Corners match for the WWF Women's Championship *1/4

Chris Jericho (with Curtis Hughes) vs Road Dogg ****

Chyna vs Jeff Jarrett (with Miss Kitty) **1/4

Kane vs The Big Show in a No Disqualification match ***

The British Bulldog vs X-Pac **1/2

Edge and Christian vs The Acolytes (Faarooq and Bradshaw) and Hardcore Holly & Crash Holly in a Triangle match ***3/4

Triple H vs The Rock in a Steel Cage for the WWF Championship ****1/2 (This match was f*cking awesome)

This was an awesome event and everything about this ppv was great.

Most of them were quite contrived, I remember a shockingly bad appearance by Vinnie Jones at the one I attended, think it was Insurexxion. He basically did the Lock Stock thing and interfered in the main event. I seem to remember Taker's luggage being lost and him having barely any ring gear, so they started the match with them brawling outside.

I remember also one with Owen and Shamrock and Shamrock nearly breaking his neck when he tried to leap the rope for the hot tag.

Best moment I remember at a UK (Non SS) event I attended was LOD V The New Age Outlaws, this was not PPV but right after WM14. At one point Hawk got on the mic and told Roadie "You Suck". To which he replied "Only for money". The kids of course didn't get it but it got a massive pop.

I think the one with Vinnie Jones was Capital Carnage 1998. That took place just one week before the big PPV, In Your House: Rock Bottom. Bunch of throw together matches with the only highlight being Jaqueline getting her top ripped off and having both her breasts fully exposed.

I think Rebellion 2001 is by far the best for the reasons stated in previous posts. Solid show. Wish they did more PPVs here but they wouldn't sell well at all.

The Vinnie Jones show was Capitol Carnage 1998 and the Undertaker having no ring gear, Shamrock/Owen and LOD/NAO moment sounds like Mayhem in Manchester literally a week after WM14.

One Night Stand gets my vote of the UK special PPV's, it had a fantastic and emtional main event between HBK and The British Bulldog, a quality WWF title match between Bret and Taker, and a very good match between Owen and Vader.

I think it was called One Night Only? ... at the NEC arena in Birmingham? September 1997?
Either way we're talking about the same PPV!

An emotional match between Shawn and Davey for the Euro title... it was unheard of for Davey to lose in the UK.. and the fans were furious when Shawn emerged the victor with all the interference from DX members.
Sad that Davey had dedicated the match to his cancer stricken sistser after being told he was going over... then Vince changed the booking to a Shawn win on the day of the card!
Nonetheless it was the last great match of Daveys career.

Bret and Taker had a solid title match... shame about the screwy DQ finish... and Vader and Owen put on a good show too.
