Best Two: Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts

Life's A Bitch, And Then You Mosh
Since I've started a whole new series, I figured I may as well try to save this one. I'll also remind everyone to feel free to start their own, and educate us on your favorite teams. I don't know enough specifics about teams to be able to start this on every team out there.

Back on topic. The Colts are one of the most storied franchises in the NFL. First, there was Johnny U leading the team to victory in the first ever overtime championship, and then there was the "midnight move". The story eventually moved on to the great Peyton Manning, and his first Super Bowl win. What I want to know, is what you think they're two greatest games ever are.

The first one, if you're a fan of anything that's happened more than 10 years ago in the NFL, should definitely be the 1958 Championship Game against the New York Football Giants. No, I'm not listing this because my team is involved. I'm listing this because it truly was a great game, and literally went down to the wire. No championship game had ever gone to overtime before, and both teams fought hard to win it. In 1958, these two teams were the icons of the league, and everyone knew every player on both teams. In a good, old-fashioned, rough-and-tumble football game, the Colts pulled off the win.

The second game, if you're not a fan of anything that happened more than 10 years ago, is Super Bowl XLI, and Peyton's Super Bowl win. The game itself was ugly for Bears fans, but a real gem for Colts fans. We all know the backstory to it. Peyton was always a great QB, but could never get over the hump and win the big one. In his first appearance, he did just that, and solidified his place in history. The entire team played a hell of a game, and it was never really close.

My favorite would be the 2007 AFC Championship Game between the Colts and the Patriots. The Patriots were to Manning like the Pistons were to Michael Jordan. When Samuel ran back an interception back for a TD to put New England up 21-3, I thought the Colts were done. But Peyton showed true leadership and brought them back to win the game and I think that will always be one of his best games.
