All right I was up at the Family Video near my house and I found about 10 pey-per-views from the late nineties to early millenium... At the time that I had watched these (I was anywhere from 8 to 12) I never truly saw the matches that were on there. I would have to say though that the best match I have ever watched after seeing these to refresh my memory would have to be '99 No Mercy Hardy Boys(In the Brood)/ Christian And Edge in a ladders match for what would be I guess Money in a Sack??? Truly some of the most ridiculous moves ever executed so perfectly... I'm sure there are others that are around like any Rock/Austin match or Andre the Giant/Hogan... But if you guys have any other ideas just post 'em up...

I agree with The Hardyz and Edge and Christian Match. That match started Tag Team Matches and Ladder Matches. Another Great Match is Andre the Giant V Hulk Hogan. It had so much hype and it ended with a great finsh.

the hardys vs edge/ and christian was the terri invitational tournamet ladder match. whoever won got her managerial services and cash. awesome match. but even better then that was the wm 17 tlc match with edge/christian vs hardys vs dudleys.

hbk v angle wm 21- incredible match. 2 great wrestlers stole the show at wm 21.

undertaker v manking king of the ring 1998 and hbk v hhh badd blood 2004- 2 greatest hell in a cell matches to date.

hbk v razor ramon wm 10- these guys had 2 great ladder matches. at the time it was incredible what these guys were doing. its a shame razor could win matches like this but never got to hold the heavyweight title.

rock v hhh ladder match at summerslam 98 for ic title- one of the most brutal matches ever and these 2 ended their rivalry at msg with a bang. both men gave it their all and put on a hell of a show.

ultimate warrior v hulk hogan title v title wm 6- speaks for itself.

bret v owen steel cage summerslam 94- awesome match. great ending. r.i.p. owen hart.

wwf v the alliance survivor series 2001- not so much because of the match, more because it was possibly the best storyline ever in the wwf/e.

bret hart v stone cold wm 13- some say bret hart made stone colds career with this match. incredible effort by both in a classic match. everyone remembers stone cold with the blood pouring down his face passing out. its unfortunate these 2 couldnt have more matches together.

benoit v jericho submission match judgment day 2000- they used the passing out thing again in this match wen jericho passed out but still an incredible match with 2 amazing wrestlers.

1992 royal rumble- without a doubt the best rumble ever with flair coming in 3rd and winning the title the only time the title was ever on the line in the rumble. so many big stars in this royal rumble too.

bret hart vs diesel survivor series 95- the no disqualification stipulation made it very exciting to watch and bret hart may have been the first wrestler ever to go thru a table im pretty sure he was. diesel dominated but in the end hart won and ended diesels year long reign. classic.

diesel vs hbk wm 11- should hav been the main event of the show but regardless an enormous matchup. diesel won in a classic with the jackknife powerbomb.

randy savage v ricky steamboat wm 3- alot of ppl forget about this match cuz of the hogan/andre match but this one was probly even better then that one. ultimate classic.

kevin nash v goldberg starcade 1998- pretty decent match but the best part was the nash finally ended goldbergs winning streak.

demolition v hart foundation best of 3 falls summerslam 1990- classic match for the tag titles.

thats all i can think of for now. there are tons more tho.

The Whole Fuckin Show had a very good list.

But, Randy Savage vs. Steamboat is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than the Hogan and Andre match. All that match was about is hype and the slam. The crowd went nuts and sure it was probably the most memorable moment in the WWE but Steamboat vs. Savage kind of inspired other matches that are similar to it.For example,Shawn Michaels vs. Jericho at Wrestlemania 19 resembles this match and stole the show that night as did Steamboat and Savage. That match put a scratch into what the WWE is now.

Benoit vs Angle Royal Rumble 2003, can't forget about this one. I still root for Benoit even though I know he loses. That's how good that match was.

The Rock vs Hollywood Hulk Hogan Wrestlemania 18, classic. Even I lost me voice booing the great one when I was watching in my own home.

Jeff Hardy vs The Undertaker on Raw in a ladder match for the Undisputed WWE Title. This was pay per view quality and should have made Jeff Jardy a permenat main eventer.

Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar Wrestlemania 20, just playin. yall probably would kill me for putting this crap up here.

First off, aside from hype..Hogan vs Warrior was a terrible match.
Savage/Steamboat, HBK/Angle, and Benoit/Angle Ultimate Submission are 3 of the best I have seen..and for anyone who hasn't seen Savage/Steamboat from WM III, either get Volume one of the Anthology or get the recently released WM III Championship edition DVD, this match is fucking insane.

Definitly the Benoit/Angle match I completely forgot about it when I was thinking of Submission matches... Hell Yeah that match was simply awesome... I totally agree ever since then when Benoit does wrestle my eyes are glued to the T.V.

Ah damn, too many matches to name. I'm guessing since its in the WWE Forum, it'll probably be just WWE matchups mainly. I would imagine htis is getting moved to Old School Wrestling though.

Top of my head.
HBK vs. Chris Jericho WM 19: This match was amazing. I love the ending when Jericho cries and hugs Michaels, only to give hima low blow, priceless.

I left this off my WM list for some god awful reason.
Hardyz vs. Dudleys vs. Edge/Christian TLC II, WM X-7.
Spot monkey heaven. This match was amazing, and the spear from Edge on Jeff maybe a top five WM moment ever. Edge and Christian go over for the third time in a row.

Undertaker vs. Mankind: Hell In A Cell
God D@mn this was the match. Sure it wasn't great on a technical level, but just to see in the span of a year the brutality level of the WWE Rise that high. Mick Foley can probably live off this one match the rest of his life.

Mick Foley vs. Triple H: Hell In A Cell, No Way Out 2000.
How does Foley follow up his memorable Hell in a Cell, by getting thrown off the top and breaking the ring of course. This match was just Brutal, and probably a better wrestling match then the Undertaker Cell. A Great Ending to a Great Career.

Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle: Ultimate Submission Match, Backlash 2001
The two greatest technical wrestlers of the last decade in a thirty minute submission match. This is a fan boys wet dream, and if you haven't seen it, shame on you. Truly amazing.

Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle: 3 Stages of Hell, Judgment Day 2001
So how do you follow up Ultimate Submission, how about a gimmick 2 out of 3 falls match. I can watch these two wrestle all day. I believe the first stage was a regular match, followed by a submission, then a ladder match. Put these two in any match types and they will steal the show.

Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle: Royal Rumble 2003
Lets bring this feud back and just a regular match. This match was text book greatness. The standing ovation Benoit got that night fromt he Boston crowd is finally the thing that got him over the hump for a serious title run i belive. Benoit and Angle are wrestling gods.

Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Triple H, 3 Stages of Hell: No Way Out 2001
The Contract signing was amazing. The Build up insane. Austin beats Triple H in his matchup with a pinfall. Triple H turns around and beats him in a street fight. This match goes damn near 45 minutes and the final stage is in a steel cage. It finally ends when both land simultaneous weapon shots on one another. Austin falls first, and Triple H lands on him for the pin. Damn good match.

Triple H vs Shawn Michaels: Summerslam 2002
If you didn't want to see this match, then you are not a wrestling fan. This thing had built up for nearly 5 years. Everyone wondered how HBK would perform, and damn it, he stole the show that night. Great ending, and then to have Triple H with the hammer shot just pissed you off.

Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle: Wrestlemania 21
I have a full description on how i feel about this match. This may very well be the best match the WWE has ever had, and they nearly topped it at Vengeance of 2005.

I honestly could go on an don, and I haven't even begun to get into ECW and yes, the handful of WCW matches that were somewhat good. (My one WCW shot of the day)

My Best
Savage/Steamboat WM 3
Owen/Bret WM 10

Owen/Bret was a greatmatch, as was Mr Perfect and Bret from the first King of the Ring PPV. Great technical encounter between two great wrestlers. OH, and don't forget Hogan/Warrior from Halloween Havoc in the old
WCW..god, what a classic!!! LOL...KIDDING!!! please don't string me up!

Shockmaster hit it on the money with this list.I absolutely love Shawn Michales and Kurt Angle's encounter at Wrestlemania 21 it blows my mind. And yes their match at Vengeance almost topped it.It is my favoitre match of all time and this is what every Wrestlemania match should be like.My second favorite match of all time is Shawn and Jericho. This match stole the show and is also what a Wrestlemania match should be.

Shockmaster you did have a tremendous list but i want to add a few to it....

Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart - WM12 Iron Man Match
How can anyone forget the iron man match. Great build up. Amazing entrance by HBK which no one has ever done before. I remember being 8 years old at this time and both men were the most popular stars at the time and i can literally remember thinking there is no way either man could lose this match. Great ending with OT and HBK winning.

I'd have to dissagree there son. It's one of the most boring match's in W.M. history. It's not a bad match. But with two star's in or near there prime it's a major dissapointment. It is nostly rest hold's throughout. For some reason this match is hailed as a classic. Brian Danielson goes out for an hour all the time and he hold's my intrest. The Triple H/Rock Iron Man held my intrest. And more importantly they held the fan's in the arena's intreast. At W.M. 12 the fan's got bored 30 odd minute's in.

I agree that the HBK entrance was great and the build up was very good.

Sorry there Y 2 Jake I wasnt really thinking about wher eto put this when I made it because I am pretty new to this thing and just wanted to hear what people thought.. Anyways I also would have to say almosts any Stone Cold/Rock match or even the Hogan/Rock match even knowing people might not have liked the way it had ended it was really entertaining...

As of late, I keep returning to my favorite matches of all time.

Sting/Vader from Starrcade 1992 for the King of Cable trophy -
Wicked match with Vader stiffing The Stinger with numerous clotheslines and brutal headshots. Sting's victory was an amazing mid-air powerslam countering a top rope cross-body from Vader. Plus, Stinger executes a thunder-flip (Double leg somersault koppo kick). Definitely a diamond in the rough as WCW didn't have many shining moments like this in those days.

Bret Hart vs. Bulldog - Summerslam 1992
Pure artistry that has yet to be matched in terms of crowd control. 80,000 people were played like a fiddle that night as the undercard closed...and stole the show. These guys were at their apex together and wrestled a hell of a match that had a pretty damn solid successor a few years later at an In Your House. This match was a prime glimpse of the future of the business and what should be the standard.

Dynamite/Tiger Mask from New Japan (Don't remember date):
Twenty odd minutes of insanity that just blew my mind upon first viewing and every time ever since. I watch it at least once every other month because I can't stop the cravings. This was and is one of the finest examples of a a high-impact shooter clashing with an aerial artist in a showdown that made the Japanese fans seem American with how loud they got.

Samoa Joe/A.J. Styles/Christopher Daniels in three-way dance in TNA 2005:
As a match that really cemented TNA as a major force in my mind, I was completely flabbergasted by this and hold this as my favorite match of the new millenium. I've sifted through a lot of indy work recently and have found a lot of them, but this match was one of the last times I completely marked out and forgot about spot-calling and all the logistics. That's how good it was to me. I've yet to feel this way again, but I've come close with a number of TNA matches since and a couple of WWE encounters.

God so many to name. Is it just going to be WWE stuff? Ah well screw that, I'm gonna include all of my favorites in a semi-chronological order.

WWF Title Cage Match: Bob Backlund vs. Jimmy Snuka - MSG 6/28/82

I've always considered this match to be above Snuka's better remembered cage match with Muraco. Sure, Snuka actually hit Muraco with the splash in that match, but the first time Snuka did it was here when he missed Backlund and its amazing. One of the few old school matches that I could watch anytime and never get bored with. Brutal for it's day.

NWA US Title Steel Cage "I Quit" Match: Magnum T.A. vs. Tully Blanchard - Starcade 1985
This is the definition of a good I Quit match. Hell its the definition of a good cage match. The feud was classic and their rivalry resulted in one of the greatest matches ever here with more blood being shed then most had seen in years in wrestling. Absolutely brutal for it's day also, a classic match that you can find on the WWE's Bloodiest Cage matches I believe.

WWF Intercontinental Title Match: Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat - Wrestlemania 3
Another classic old school match that I never tire of. This match feels like its an hour long but is only really about fifteen minutes, and its simply because you get so caught up inside the match. It was very rare to see matches like these in those days, especially in WWE and it stands alone as the sole reason to watch Wrestlemania 3.

NWA World Title Match 2 out of 3 Falls: Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat - Clash of the Champions VI
Every single match between these two legends were all time classics, but their two out of three falls match has always stood alone to me as the highlight of their feud. Absolutely breathtaking, the reason why I devour all of the late eighties and early nineties of the NWA/WCW.

NWA World Title "I Quit" Match: Ric Flair vs. Terry Funk - Clash of the Champions IX
Yet another classic feud for the ages between the Funker and the Nature Boy. This was one of their few encounters and god does it pay off in spades. This is just amazing, I can't even really describe it. My favorite match from Terry Funk, ever.

Owen Hart vs. Bret Hart - Wrestlemania X
Many people point to thier match at the following Summerslam in the cage as their classic battle, and while that match is fantastic, I've always found it to be a bit slow. Plus, Owen actually picks up the win this time! What a great way to start off a PPV too with a twenty minute classic between two of the most technically sound wrestlers of their generations, not to mention brothers. Amazing how Bret was able to go on for the main event against Yokozuna, picking up the win after Wrestlemania 9's screwjob.

WWF Title Iron Man Match: Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart - Wrestlemania 12
Now alot of people criticize this match for being too slow and full of rest holds, but honestly considering how long the match is I don't mind certain holds lasting for a few minutes. Still one of the best matches of all time, and IMO the best Wrestlemania main event ever. Seeing HBK come down from the rafters when I was a kid was just amazing and I'll never forget that match.

WWF Title Match: Shawn Michaels vs. Mankind - IYH: Mind Games 1996
What can really be said here? Easily one of the most underlooked matches ever, and another match that I throw out every time someone asks me what my favorite match is. This was Mankind and HBK at their prime and god does it show. Go rent HBK's From the Vault DVD if you haven't seen this match, you need to.

Submission Match: Bret Hart vs. Stone Cold - Wrestlemania 13
Another five star classic and possibly the best match ever. These two guys pull out every move in their book, and even if the match was going to suck the crowd's atmosphere was amazing. When they turned on Hart it was truly the passing of the torch from the old generation of wrestling to the new. The image of Austin caught in the sharpshooter with blood pouring down his face until he's unconcious is one I'll never forget.

WWF Title Casket Match: Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker - Royal Rumble 1998
A very often overlooked match that IMO was just a five star effort all the way through. One of the few times I felt the main event was justified in going on after the actual Rumble match. The spots these guys pull are crazy, with HBK pulling the absolute best piledriver-on-steel-steps you'll ever see. Not to mention we see Kane set the casket on fire after Taker is in it, another awesome image I won't ever forget.

WWF Title Match: Stone Cold vs. Dude Love - Over the Edge 1998
Another overlooked match and one of the most entertaining by far. These guys battle all over the arena, on top of demolished cars, through announcers tables, the whole nine yards. Maybe not one of the most technically sound matches but easily one of the most entertaining.

Hell in a Cell Match: The Undertaker vs. Mankind - King of the Ring 1998
Do I really even need to say anything here? The most famous match in wrestling history.

WWF Intercontinental Title Ladder Match: HHH vs. The Rock - Summerslam 1998
Another overlooked match that doesn't get its due. After a classic two out of three falls match the two had the month before at Fully Loaded ended in an expired time limit, you knew they could only get better. And they do. My favorite ladder match ever, just two of the best of all time going at it right before they hit it big. Classic.

WWF Title Match: Stone Cold vs. The Rock - Backlash 1999
It doesn't hurt that I was actually there to see the match, but this is by far their best encounter IMO. The build up and set up to this match was just amazing, and this feud could easily be called the greatest of all time. Their Wrestlemania 15 match was damn good on its own, but this match really outshined it and just dropped my jaw when I saw it at 14, amazed me.

WWF Title First Blood Match: Stone Cold vs. The Undertaker - Fully Loaded 1999
I take that back, this was the greatest build up to a match ever. When this match happened you truly felt that the Austin-McMahon feud was over and that it truly was the "End of an Era". I can't ever remember being more happy when seeing this as a teenager with my friends and jumping up and down, all of us thinking Vince was actually gone for good. Truly great and disgustingly overlooked match.

Terri Invitational Ladder Match: Hardy Boys vs. Edge & Christian - No Mercy 1999
The match that revolutionized the WWE and the ladder match. Before this all you saw was singles matches with ladders that typically involved just hitting eachother with the ladder. The way these two teams innovated and created with these ladders is like art to me, and it showed the world that these two teams were going to be forces to be reckoned with.

WWF Title Street Fight: HHH vs. Cactus Jack - Royal Rumble 2000
Better then their Hell in a Cell IMO, this match was devastating. This was the first PPV i ever bought for myself with my own money and god was I happy I did. Truly a classic match that saw the introduction of barbed wire to WWF TV. Not to mention we saw the most devastating pedigree ever on the thumbtacks. Amazing.

....Wow I just posted like fourteen matches and I still have alot to go. I'll just list them from now on.

Hell in a Cell: HHH vs. Cactus Jack - No Way Out 2000
Iron Man: HHH vs. The Rock - Judgment Day 2000
TLC: Edge & Christian vs. Hardy Boys vs. The Dudley Boys - Summerslam 2000
Ladder Match: Chris Benoit vs. Chris Jericho - Royal Rumble 2001
3 Stages of Hell: HHH vs. Stone Cold - No Way Out 2001
HBK vs. Chris Jericho - Wrestlemania 19

Damn I didn't even get into ECW and TNA yet...forgive me, I'll have to return later, TNA's Lockdown is starting in five minutes. :D

Great list X... I'll post mine a litle later when it's not as late at night/early in the morning and I can think, but i got one question for you...

Where are all the cena matches? :D

Damn I'll try to list something that hasn't already been mentioned:

Undisputed Title Match from Vengeance 02:
The Rock vs. Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle--now this is an overlooked match. Exciting the whole way through.

WWE Championship from WrestleMania X7
The Rock vs. Stone Cold--their best encounter. Stone Cold pulled out all the stops to destroy his arch-rival (this is the greatest rivalry of all-time, I don't care what anybody says)

WWE Championship from SummerSlam 05
John Cena vs. Chris Jericho--I know you guys might laugh at this, but this was really a great match and at that point the best effort Cena put forth. Jericho really took him to school in this match.

Empty Arena Match for the WWE Championship
The Rock vs. Mankind--come on now who the hell cared about the SuperBowl after watching this great encounter. This match put The Rock on the map as one of the greatest entertainers in the history of the business. They just beat the holy hell out of eachother the whole time. Great match.

Hell in a Cell
Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker--sorry Taker-Mankind fans, but this is the greatest Cell match of all time. With this being the original Hell in a Cell, you were seriously inclined to believe that Undertaker was going to kill Shawn Michaels.

1992 Royal Rumble Match for the WWE Title
Ric Flair takes the gold. This was really the most star-studded RR in history, everybody who was anybody was in it. I know it's hard for a RR match to be considered the best of all time, but man if you watch this one it may change your mind.

World Heavyweight Championship from WrestleMania XX
Triple H vs. Chris Benoit vs. Shawn Michaels-- uh, I don't think this one really needs to be explained. Of the past five or six WrestleMania's, this was definitely the best main event. Three of the greatest going at it, oh man, I could watch this match over and over again. Sadly, this match doesn't really get that much due either.

WWE Championship from SummerSlam 97
Undertaker vs. Bret Hart w/ Shawn Michaels at the Special Referee
This is another great match. Bret Hart really took it to the Taker in a way that nobody had before, showing no intimidation and making him wrestle a technical match. Undertaker came to play as well, showing that ability to hang with a technical guy like Bret. These two really had great matches (at RR 96, here, and at One Night Only 97), but this is by-far the best one. Another sorely unappreciated match.

These lists could go on forever, so many great matches, by so many great athletes.

My list, in no particular order, all of which have already been mentioned:

- Bret Hart vs Stone Cold (WM13). Definitely made SCSA's career. Instant flipping of face and heel, which I think even surprised the brass of the WWF at the time.

Bret Hart vs HBK (WM12). Iron Man Match. Sure it had its slow moments, but how could it not as it was so long? 2 great technical wrestlers, with a personal dislike for each other as well. Classic.

Bret Hart vs Bulldog (SS92). What else can be said about this one that hasn't already been said a million times?

Bret Hart vs Owen Hart (WM10). Brother vs brother, too bad about Owen's tragic death, he likely could have been involved in many other classics as well.

Does anyone else note a common denominator here? The best there is, the best there was, the best there ever will be. No doubt about it.

Of course, Savage vs Steamboat, Undertaker vs Mankind, and several of the SCSA vs Rock matches get honourable mention.

lol I told you damnit I didn't have enough room!

I think it's pretty much scientific fact at this point anyways that the main event of Armageddon, Finlay & King Booker vs. Batista and Cena was the single greatest match in the history of wrestling. Steamboat, Funk, Flair, Rhodes, Austin, Rock, Hunter, all of 'em must bow down to the greatness of that match. It's disgusting that Meltzer didn't give it seven thousand stars!

Not a well-known match, but the Flar v Steamboat match from the Superdome in New Orleans, the second match of their three-match series. They went almost an hour and called the whole thing in the ring. Brilliant.

For me, I have a few.

Rey Mysterio vs Psicosis
All I know is it was held in Japan. Not sure on the date or what organization. I have it on an old bootleg VHS though. Amazing match that shows why Rey is one of the best

Rey Mysterio vs Juventud Guerra - Steel Cage
Again, not sure of the fed (possibly AAA?) but it was in Mexico. Another from my old VHS. For a lucha libre contest, this match was BRUTAL!

Kurt Angle vs Brock Lesnar - 60 minute Iron man match. Smackdown
I don't remember the year, but it was for the title. Angle was champ and Lesnar was challenging. This was near the end of their feud, and showed that Lesnar was more than just a powerhouse.

AJ Styles vs Jerry Lynn vs Low Ki - Ladder match for the x title
I couldn't even come up with words to describe this match. Simply amazing is really all it comes down to. The best ladder match I have ever seen, and I've seen a lot of them.

AJ Styles vs Christopher Daniels vs Samoa Joe
Everyone who considers themselves a wrestling fan needs to see this match, and I can't believe it's only been said once on this list. If you watch this and are not amazed, in awe, you are not a fan of wrestling...

Joe vs Punk 2
Amazing. This needs no further description...

Joe vs Angle 2
The second match in a series of three. This match was a lot longer than the disappointing Genesis match, and was a lot better for it. Joe picks up the win in what is destined to be considered one of histories best.

Styles vs Abyss - Lockdown 2005
This was not a technical wrestling match, but it made you believe the impossible. AJ puts forth one of his best efforts yet, showing that not only can he hang with the heavies, he can make the super-heavies work for a win. AJ winning and getting the title shot made it all the better.

Joe vs Cage - Destination X 2007
Say what you will about Cage winning in the end, but this match showed why Joe is the top dog in wrestling, or should be. Not just in TNA, but in wrestling in general.

and finally

Low Ki vs KENTA
Wow. This match was brutal, fast paced, and just amazing all around. If you haven't seen it, you are doing a displeasure to yourself and I pity you for it.
