who do you guys(and gals) think was the the best heel run ever?
i would have to say its mr mcmahon. even tho he sint a wrestler i dont think anyone generated as much heat as he did. he never even had to wrestle (which he willingly did) all he had to do was keep using those trademark facial expressions. so who do you guys think it is?

Ok well im gonna be different and not pick any of the obvious choices. But when I think about an underrated and one of the greatest heel of all is Brock Lesnar. I just think of how much of a dick he was and seemed to do so effortlessly. And he played the psycho role very well. Not to mention threw a one legged kid in a wheel chair down the steps and beat him bloody. He was great.

the rock was a great heel too. His "feud" with the Hurricane was classic lol

Triple H's heel run from 2002 to 2005 was pretty impressive. It's probably the only time in WWE history (that I can remember at least) that the major focus of the company was a heel.

Pretty sure that this thread will likely be closed but what the hell I'll jump in and choose an unlikely one as well.

JBL... just weeks after APA split he came out looking totally different, like a rich oil tycoon, and attcked (I believe) Eddie Guerrero. Shortly thereafter he became champ held the title for a long period of time, and was a smug bastard the entire time. People wonder why Del Rio is a failure, its because JBL was so damn great in this role

I will go with... Chris jericho in 2008 OMFG he pissed me off so much but that was his job he was a brilliant heel. 2nd place would go to mcmahon he got so much heat for not even wrestling(alot).I also thought rated rko were pretty good heels when they kept beating the crap out of dx.

Im going to go with the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibease. Best gimmick ever and he played it so well. Longevity, success, this run has it all

Tough one. But I have to go with Triple H's heel run from 2002 to 2005. This is really the only time a heel has been the main focus of the company, as someone else said above. He really was THE guy. He had it all. He was, still is, great in the ring, had the ultimate wrestler-turned manager in Ric Flair and building Evolution would have left huge holes in WWE today.

Without Triple H, there would be no Evolution. So, where would Randy Orton and Batista have got to, where would the WWE be today? You can look at the heel run as an awesome one because of the titles and Evolution behind his back, but without him making Evolution with Flair in the first place, two of your main guys from 2005 to 2010, or in some cases still today, would not be where they are, more than likely in Batista's case and WWE would not have the same superstars as it does now.

This shouldn't be a suprise,BUT I am suprised that it wasn't among the choices!!

Sgt. Slaughter(Gulf War--first one)

Back during Desert Shield/Storm they had the sarge as of all things,An Iraqi sympathizer and he played it to the hilt!
Culminating with "Real American" Hulk Hogan winning back the belt at Wrestlemania 7,
Why do I bring this up??

To some that don't know OR most likely too young to remember,
The heat on him got so bad,There was supposedly credible death/bomb threats against him and his family...to the point they needed armed security protection.

That is what I call the best heel run ever, albeit brief...A perfect combination of people and timing.

Macho Man was a great heel. I liked him much better when he played the bad guy. He was dirty, yet still had the chops to kick any faces butt. His fueds with steamboat and Hogan are legendary!

Now I understand most fans weren't born when the coolest heel of all time was in his prime. Back in the 80's was the greatest time for a face cause most fans cheered for the good guys not like the mid 90's up to present day. Don't forget this heel is the reason why fans cheer for heels such as HHH and Miz cause the heel was made to be cool but cruel at the same time. The man I am talking about is the greates World Champion of all-time 16 Time Cham Ric Flair

1. Ric Flair and the Four Horsemen
The worst of the worst. They would bask in their glory and like a gang of thug, would attack you if you get in their ways. What made them so hateful was that people knew they were so good, they were the best talkers and wrestlers. So there was a strong element of jealousy.

2. Gorgeous George
probably the first "star" of wrestling, his whole act was to cause people to hate him. wth the robes, arrogance, he had a spray because he hated the smell of other wrestlers

3. Killer Kowalski
His appearance made kids running in terror. The quintessential monster heel.

4. Rowdy Roddy Piper
If Flair was evil, Piper would eat kittens. He was the super-heel opposed to Hogan's super-face.

5. Million Dollar Man
The guy was so good at being a jerk, the WWF had to replace Bobby Heenan by him in the Hogan-Andre fued.

I hesitantly went with Triple H. His World Championship Heel run was amazing. I enjoyed the whole thing. Evolution made him that much better.

as much as i love hollywood and mr mcmahon, this goes to ric flair without question, the man redefined what it meant to be a heel champion, so many stars that he put over, so many matches made that much better based on how he worked the crowd, the man was a heel 85% of his career and did it better than anybody else imo

My choice is Mr. McMahon. He went from a face announcer to one of the most hated heels ever. Granted, Stone Cold being the face against Vince helped a lot, but what a transition Vince made. I don't know a single person that did;t want to see Vince get the crap beat out of him ever week. One of the greatest heels ever IMO.

Triple H by Far. The win over Goldberg at SS 03 in the Chamber, was the biggest win for a heel over a face in wrestling history

Walking out of Arizona that night Bloody with the Sledge Hammer in one hand and the World Title in the Other hand. Legendary

HHH is Still the Champion!!!!

A fairly underrated heel in my opinion. Papa Shango, he had the look, the believe ability, and he had the gimmick, he would have been the perfect character for WWF if he was used to his fullest potential, I suppose they tried with Ultimate Warrior but come on...

When i think back to when I was young, there was one man that stood out to me and made me hate him because he had crushed my favourite wrestler and hero at the time. The Earthquake, wow maybe not the greatest heel of all time but I want to give him an honourable mention in this thread. The whole segment when he attacked Hulk Hogan and crushed him and "killed" him scarred my for life, it brought me to tears and it was the first time that I had felt this type of emotion into Wrestling, I personally believe that if I had not watch this Segment on a Hulk Hogan video, then I honestly believe I would not have been able to get emotionally invested in wrestling atall. This had such a strong impact on my first impressions of wrestling, and thats why I believe at the time Earthquake was a great heel. Of course he wasnt the greatest heel of all time in the IWC's mind, but I thought it would be relevant to share my most impactful memory great heel with youse.

PS - I honestly believe that people should make up thier decision on who affected them as a kid, because that was when you were the definition of a fan, when you cared the most & when you believed it was real

Ah yes Flair was/is one of the best heels ever. I was trying to stay in the WWE universe and Flair's run with WWE was so short, that's why I picked Macho Man. But if you want to go back in time, Superstar Billy Graham was a good heel too but my all time favorite was The maniac John Tolos, also known as the Golden Greek. He was a longtime staple here in Los Angeles in the 70's. Roddy Piper was a snot nosed 17 year old kid back then and my parents used to take me to the Olympic Auditorium to see the shows.

I don't know about you guys but I get tired of people saying HHH only had success because of who he is married to. The guy is funny on the mic and he is easily one of the best heel's in WWE history and deserved to be champ multiple times....but maybe not over 10 times. I don't know who the greatest heel ever is because I don't feel like thinking about it right now but HHH was one of the best.

To me, the best heel run was Bret Hart's run in 1997. Though it only lasted 8 months, the Hart heel run had a brilliant beginning, middle and end unlike any other heel run in wrestling history.

The Beginning: One of the greatest WrestleMania matches of all time, Hart entered the match as a baby face and was converted to the hated villain halfway through the bout. This match not only made Hart the top heel in the company, but it really pushed Steve Austin over the top as a bonafide STAR. While KOTR put Austin on the map with the WWE crowd, his feud with Hart put him at the top of the company ... and the match at WrestleMania 13 solidified him as the most "over" star in the company.

The End: The heel run ended with the most controversial moment in the history of the WWE, the Montreal Screw Job. Indirectly, this match created the Mr. McMahon character -- thus, one could say that Bret Hart "put over" both Steve Austin and Mr. McMahon, the two driving forces in the WWE reclaiming the top spot in the war against WCW. How many heel runs can claim that they "made" TWO of the most iconic wrestling figures of all time?

In between "making" Austin and Mr. McMahon, Hart gave us the meat of one of the greatest rivalries in WWE history. Though they had wrestled against one another in tag team matches, mid-card matches, and even headlined a WrestleMania, 1997 provided us the first - and only - time Hart and Michaels really went after each other as bonafide main event stars. The personal feud between the two not only provided a precursor to The Attitude Era, but it also shifted Raw from a cartoonish product into a more realistic product... which was a necessary move in order to compete with Nitro's more realistic approach.

To me, there's no heel run in wrestling history that provided the entertainment and history that Hart's run did. Though it only lasted 8 months, one could argue that the brevity of the run was perfect in that it didn't get old or stale. For me, there was no point during Hart's heel run where I said to myself, "Will they end this already?" ... and honestly, after about 2 years, I had that exact thought with Triple H, Hogan and Mr. McMahon. Those runs ran so long that ideas were being recycled after a while.

I loved the Bret Hart heel when he was in charge of the hart foundation dissing america is always great especialy when your from Canada

Vince McMahon for best heel of all time.
Been an off again on again heel since late 1996 but really turning at the Montreal Screwjob in 1997

noone else gets the same sort of hatred and love directed towards him depending entirely what he does when he comes out, and during the attitude era he was the number 1 heel on screen IMO.

and outside of the onscreen he cops so much flack for everything he does or doesn't address.

As someone who grew up watching pro wrestling throughout the '80s, especially living in the South, I don't think any heel can adequately compare to "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair (and The Four Horsemen). While many, many wrestlers may have an intense period in their career, where they are the industry's "hot commodity," it is generally fairly short-lived. Flair, though, managed to maintain white-hot heat through an entire decade.

The antithesis to Hogan in the '80s, who faced and, ultimately, up-ended one sadistic challenge after another, Flair was the unstoppable heel. Despite a never-ending string of wildly popular contenders, most of whom seemed more than capable of bringing his domination to a screeching halt, "The Nature Boy" consistently managed to hold onto his belt. And, whenever he needed back up, The Horsemen were there to lend a helping hand.

Some of the dastardly things they did to challengers and to allow Flair to keep his strap are legendary. Attacks in parking lots. Four-on-one assaults. Manipulating women. All of it was genius -- and, for the time, ground-breaking!!

Many people came along later who experienced massive success as heels. Indeed, many -- like "The Million Dollar Man," JBL and now Alberto Del Rio -- use similar gimmicks. However, I'd challenge anyone in the industry to say Flair was not just "The Man," but the man against whom any and all heels have to be judged.

This will always be a tough one to answer. Vinnie Mac has always been an amazing heel, simply toying with the WWE Universe anytime he wants. He has all the power to do ANYTHING. And messing with the most loved wrestlers of all time (Rock, Austin, Foley) just adds to the hatred people have shown for him and his character over the years. HHH has had a few amazing heel runs, and the best being 2002-2005 which has been mentioned a few times in this thread already. JBL also had an amazing run. He might not have even gotten this run to last as long as it did if it weren't for the unexpected passing of Eddie Guererro in 2005. JBL rocketed to the top of the WWE as the most dominant heel on either brand. The feud with John Cena was brilliant, especially with the "I Quit" match that Cena came out on top with.

I can't really pick one, but if It came down to my favorite, it would be JBL. The sheer ferocity and cunningness he showed during his time in WWE after the Acolytes/APA. Once Farooq was fired, JBL took over and started playing a Heel on Smackdown! as Kurt Angle (The GM) would help him with matches. He held the WWE Championship for 280 days, the longest reign for any Smackdown! Superstar with the WWE Title.

I still prefer the Hogan heel run, with the NWO and the infamous turn at Bash at the Beach. Still, in my opinion, the best storyline in the history of wrestling.

Chris Jericho and Vince McMahon played great heels because you really wanted to hit them. Stone Cold played his short hell run really well. I liked him better as a heel than a face. Undertaker was also very good in his Minestry phase. Triple H gets my vote though just because he was the main heel during the height of the attitude era.
