Best ECW match since it's revival

I'm a HUGE fan of ECW on Sci-Fi and I wanna know what some of your favorite matches are and why. Here's a top 5 list of my favorite matches.

Honorable mentions: The Big Show vs. Kane, RVD vs. The Big Show, John Cena vs. Johnny Nitro

5. Matt Hardy vs. Finlay vs. The Miz vs. John Morrison
- This one was a #1 contender's match for Mark Henry's ECW Title and all I can say is, if you haven't seen it, see it now!

4. Jack Swagger vs. Christian
- This was the match that really made me say, "Swagger's got it." Lots of nearfalls and creative moves made me really enjoy this one.

3. John Morrison vs. CM Punk
- These two have had countless battles but I'm going to go with their match where CM Punk won the ECW Title. It was an awesome match that had it all.

2. RVD vs. Hardcore Holly
- This match was the one in which Holly suplexed RVD onto a table which lead to Holly getting a NASTY gash on his back. Even with the gash, Holly continued on throughout the match and gave it his all. It really made me proud to say that I'm a pro wrestling fan.

1. Tie - The Big Show vs. The Undertaker/The Big Show vs. Ric Flair
- I couldn't decide on which match was better so I chose both of them. The reason I chose The Big Show vs. The Undertaker was mostly based on personal reasons. I remember my parents getting into a huge fight and this match just distracted me from listening or getting involved with them. I chose Big Show vs. Flair because well...it was fucking awesome to see Flair get extreme against Big Show. I don't care what people think of the match, I absolutely loved it.

Cm punk vs John Morrison for the ECW title

This was one of the best matches i have seen on ecw. It showed off well the athleticism of Both cm punk and John Morrison.

3) Matt Striker vs Sandman - Singapore Cane on a Pole Match: This match reminded me a little of the original ECW. Though the ending was a little lame with Striekr getting smacked in the head and then running away from the ring getting counted out, it was still a well worked, entertaining match.

2) Sabu vs Rob Van Dam - Ladder Match for a shot at the ECW Championship:
Fun, exciting match between two high flying ECW Originals. I also enjoyed the way the match ended with Big Show interfering with the match and Sabu jumping on his shoulders and grabbing the briefcase.

1) Rob Van Dam vs Hardcore Holly - Extreme Rules Match:
THis is my favorite match from the new ECW because I feel it contained a lot of the elements from the original ECW. There was a lot of action in this match and also the match in which Holly cut open his back after going through a table. This match is the definition of hardcore.

3. RVD and Kurt Angle vs Rated RKO
A solid tag team match that was surprising long for a TV match. I think this was to hype Vengance 06 maybe, where RVD wrestled Edge and Angle faced Orton. Either way, it was a great match.

2. The New Breed vs ECW Originals (Extreme Rules)
I remember watching this and thinking, why the hell didn't they make it Extreme rules at Wrestlemania? The match far surpassed the WM match and I thought it really did a good job at getting the New Breed over, especially Burke and Cor Von. Even Sandman came off looking good. Shame about the New Breed going on to nothing....

1.RVD vs Sabu (Ladder match)
As close to an original ECW match as WWE ever got. This match had it all, including a shit load of Sabu botching. I was very surprised by Sabu winning (even it was with some help from Big Show) and even more surprised when he actually went on to SummerSlam to wrestle Big Show in Extreme rules. This is definately my fav match ECW has ever put on.

Punk vs. Morrison for the ECW title, hands down.

1 Punk vs Morrison ECW Tittle so far to this day still the best feud and matches on ECW.

2 RVD vs Sabu Ladder Match what can you expect from these two there both great and really made this match special.

3 Big Show vs Ric Flair ECW tittle this match was cool great story and greater finish with show knocking Flair off apron and threw tables with chockslam.

4 DX vs Big show this match would have been better if they left the extrme rules. great match though by a rare apperance from DX on ECW

5 Morrison vs Bourne. this match great as well great athletes and a 20 plus minute match love these kinds of matches. never a boring spot.

Well I don't really remember many from 2006-2007, but my top 3 from recent times are

#1 Morrison vs Punk
Just awesome. These two were the reason I used to watch ECW every week. Both were very entertaining.

#2 Morrison vs Bourne
This match was amazing, I heard about it and watched it on youtube. I didn't know who would win. It was great, so many close calls. I was suprised that Morrison won.

#3 Swagger vs Christian
I think Swagger is ok. Christian though is one of my favorites. I loved this match, I hadn't seen Christian in a while and he was still awesome. Great match.

1.New Breed VS ECW Originals (april 2007) - wow what a match great use of weapons reminded me a lot like the old ecw this match was far better then WM23 wish the new breed did more the they did.

2.Ric Flair VS The Big Show (july 2006) - Great bloody brawl props to Mr Flair taking them sick use of weapons it looks a lot worse when its a bloody 50 something year old man getting slammed into tacks.

3.Hardcore Holly VS RVD (september 2006) - very memorble match mainly because of the brutal gash Holly got from a table and i respect the man for going on even though in tremendos pain even without the gash it was still a good match but maybe not as memorble.

Swagger v Christian

I marked out huge for christians return and had never really been taken by Swagger until this match. Swagger really proved himself and Christian showed that he still got it.

My favorite match of the new ecw is definitely the ECW originals vs New Breed match that happened two days after wrestlemania 23. Like Joey Styles said on commentary "this is vintage ecw" and it was. I loved how the match was all 8 men just brawling rather than a regular 8 man tag.

Another match I really liked, but is forgotten, is Sandman vs Big Show. This was during Big Show's title reign and he made the Sandman look good as opposed to squashing him. I mean there were points in the match where it looked like Sandman might win.

I like almost all the hardcore matches they've had since relaunching, but even the matches that weren't hardcore like Bourne vs Morrison and Punk vs Chavo reminded me of the old ecw in terms of the workrate. The old ecw wasn't just about hardcore matches, but rather well-worked matches that keep you on the edge of your seat.

I'll take the Swagger Christian match from ECW when Swagger. They went back and for for a good amount of time as it wasn't a rushed match. Swagger was put over huge here as he looked like a legit threat and Christian was supposed to be the easy victor in this match. instead Swagger pulled it out completely clean. that's a key to a great match in my eyes, when you don't know who's going to win. It makes the ending far more exciting as you can't miss a single move. It was a great back and forth match with a surprising ending. What more can you ask for/

Morrison vs. Bourne- Just an awesome match. I was waiting for this match since Bourne signed with WWE and it turned out to be as good as I expected. Awesome spots, awesome wrestling, reminded me of the old ECW, just the well wrestled matches they did which weren't hardcore.

Funk/Dreamer vs. Foley/Edge- A great match to bring back ECW. had alot of fighting out of the ring, hardcore action. And the women got involved. Once again, reminded me of the old ECW.

Hardcore Holly vs. RVD- It was a great match all together with some hardcore stuff put in. Reminded me of an old ECW match also, especially the table useage. And how Holly took that gash and finished the match, it reminded me of how the old ECW guys would do it, especially Sabu. New ECW at it's best.

Those three matches really personified the old ECW and are true highlights of the new ECW.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned:

RVD/Sabu Vs. Mike Knoxx/Test -
On an episode of ECW on Sci Fi, under Extreme Rules. This featured one of the most original spots i've seen in some time (Sabu with a Cross Body on all 3 guys, including RVD, off the apron through a table). The crowd was hot, the match was hardcore, and the heels did their bit.

Tommy Dreamer/Sandman Vs. Mike Knoxx/Test:
Yep, same heels, different originals. Once again, Extreme Rules, very old skool. Lots of bloody brawling on the outside, and loved the whole symaltaneous wrestling (Sandman/Knoxx going at it on the outside to further their feud, and Dreamer/Test mainly in the ring). This match also involved a huge barbed wire board, and best of all, was competed at the Hammerstein Ballroom. A great moment at the end with the heel Paul Heyman ordering security to ditch Dreamer into the barbed wire.

Not quite the best by any means, but a mention for Sabu Vs. Roadkill in the 3rd episode of ECW on SF.

On an interesting note, I suggest you guys to go back and watch some of the earlier ECW on Sci Fi episodes (with the originals/Paul Heyman) - They really are quite good...

It's just the disappointment of it not being the original ECW was too immense at the time. After a few years, it's interesting looking back at some of the full shows without that intial disappointment.

I seem to recall an Extreme Rules match between Morrison and Dreamer. It proved to me that JoMo could hang with the big boys. I remember the highlight being Morrison hitting what we now call the Starship Pain off the fuckin barricade on the outside of the ring. Really beautiful spot. Not the greatest match, but definitely worth mentioning.

My top 3 are
3. Tommy Dreamer and Colin DeLaney vs Miz and Morrison in extreme rules this match was great it had an awesome jomo spot where moonsaulted of the top rope on to delaney, and Dreamer hit the tree of woe dropkick on miz and morrison at the same time by kicking a trash can.
2. Originals vs. New breeds as said before why was this not extreme at wm it is awesome i love this match
1.Jomo vs. Evsan Bourne this match showed the athleticism of bourne and morrison great way for jomo to farewell to ecw

This is gonna raise alot of eyebrows but the tag team match where it was jimmy wang yang and Shannon Morre vs Miz and Morrison for the tag team championship. it was a 15 minutes of fame match but really it was an iron man match and i really thought yang and Morre could win the titles and i was really a great all around match.
